《Project Abra》X-Particle

Eventually the icebug rolled away In pursuit of more stolen prey, leaving me trying to reason with jade.
How am I supposed to see threats that may be coming towards me if they are on the list.
[They can be temporarily deactivated in emergency situations]
Ok . . . So for example let's say I'm trapped underground in icy catacombs, with no clear route of escape.
[That is not an emergency ]
...
I'm going for a walk. There might be something useful around here.
Ignoring the futility of trying to walk away from my thoughts, I stand up and start walking around the icy ring. The grass is itch, with small seed clumps reaching out of the tall, purple-green grass.
The grass is interspersed with small bushes, missing all their leaves, as if plucked off by a small creature. The grass rustles in the wind, making its loop around the whole cave.
Ahead of me, something grabs my attention. A huge metal girder, 40 meters long l, half sunken into the dirt like material. Above it in the ceiling is a the corresponding half. The fading red girders are being chewed away at by dark blue vines.
I walked cautiously towards, fearing whatever may be hiding in the long shadows cast by the tower. I try to cast the image of red glowing spikes out of my head, and finally walk into the relative darkness.
It's at least ten degrees cooler, and much darker. The weak glow coming through the vines and girders is enough to see. I hear a little scuttle and suddenly I trip on a small length of pipe. I hear scuttling as I get up, and turn around to find several dozen skinks staring at me.
Each skink is about 7cm long, but because of the lighting i cant see them very well. What I could see is that on each of their backs was a glowing red spot.

[Grab that girder]
Grudgingly I jump over the skinks, who all turn to look at me with tilted heads, until I grab the square pipe. The pipe is still warm, from what exactly? Before I can finish my thought, I hear several small pops, corresponding to small impacts on my leg.
They dont exactly hurt, more like a shove. All the skinks continue staring at me, until suddenly I'm knocked back by a blow to the stomach, accompanied by a chorus of pops. Panicdly I swing my bar at them, missing the first time, and knocking a skink away the second time.
Suddenly I see 3 skinks in the back fire black liquid at me, hitting the bottom of my lab coat, which dissolved away on impact. Before I can refocus, another round of popping starts, along with another acid burst.
The force applied to my knees knocks me down, and the burning acid stings on my cheek. Before I had a chance to get a good look at my foes, they scuttled back into the darkness, marked only by a red glow climbing up the structure.
After several minutes of silence, and me trying to peice my ego back together from being defeated by a bunch of tiny lizards.
Jade. What were those.
[Some sort of skinks with force powers.]
Duh... oh yeah. You know everything I know
Standing up with a groan, I continue walking through the girders slowly, avoiding any pipes that weren't iced over. The stinging on my face fades after a while of walking.
Walking through this structure, is an interesting experience. The bars are fighting against me, snagging on my pack and jacket, forcing me to duck or go around them.
Suddenly hanging from the ceiling is a light blue glowing fruit, around the size of an orange and lighting up the area.

After nearly asking jade "what is that", I look around for a possible trap, and then pluck the fruit. The fruit is squishy, like a bag full of jello, and has glowing notes of light inside it.
Carefully holding the fruit, and using it like a lantern, I continue through the girders.
Finally I reach the end of the girders, with almost nothing of use, besides a dimming lantern, and a peice of rebar.
What a crappy haul
[Dont step on-]
*crunch*
I look down to see a skeletal hand.
Nope nope. Nope. I cant do this l.too many skeletons.
[He has a gun]
I stop in my tracks, weighing the pros and cons, but I already know my decision. I turn around to look at the skeleton.
There are vines growing through it, and many of the bones are snapped off. His skull is hanging down as if in shame at his lap, in which the gun sits.
It's strange looking, with a glowing red handle, and thick barrel.
[The synthco X-particle handgun is a easy to use, emergency gun. It harnesses the power of the X-Particle, concentrated by lenses, and fired out the front. ]
will it kill?
[It can kill many things.]
Just what I need
As I'm walking out, I feel a itch on my leg, and reach down to scratch it. I feel a small bump on my leg.
~Hello there~
Immediately the world goes black.

The creatures roaming among the abandoned cars and flying vehicles resemble almost to perfection the mindless cannibalistic zombies born from the fictional nightmares of mankind. The cities were built in the retro style of the 21st century, but the technology of the 24th century is ever present, mostly within the bodies of those mortally challenged monstrosities. After all, what turned them into these things was not an evolved organic virus, an alien disease, or some sort of magical artifact, it was the corrupted and reprogrammed nanobots within their bodies. Originally, they were meant to heal them and help them access the tech around them, but now they were the origin of this disaster. Among the rotting dead and the Nano-Z, as the survivors called them, Kardian Pandora awakens two months after getting bit by one of them. A young teacher at the local Resonance High, foolish and naive in his own way, but now driven by the Sapient AI in the nanobots inside his body to hunt down other Nano-Z and learn how to survive. For now, his only goal is to become strong enough and rejoin his students and fellow colleagues, foolishly hoping to somehow be able to get back to the time when the undead did not rule the streets. Will Kardian be able to survive in this new savage world or will his naive outlook lead him to a dead end? Volume 1 can be bought on Amazon: Resonance High
