RB Chapter 10 Lisa's Resolve
A variety of virtual images of gadgets appeared in from of Elec.
They were each in a separate category. He chose one which had defense.
'My life is more important than scaling up my attack power.'
State of the art armors appeared in his view but the price tag alone scared him. The clan had the money, but he doubted his father would allow him to buy one since it was useless at this current stage of his life.
'Having a spineless master is frustrating!' Such a thought appeared in Eric's mind which should have been wired to respect his master. He didn't think of it as odd, maybe he didn't even manage to register the shift in his thoughts. His mind was connected to his master and he could even see what he was searching through his master's eyes.
'Why didn't father tell me about the deteriorating situation of Kampala city? Could it be that in his mind, he also looks down on me?' Elec started questioning his father's intentions.
He had always followed his father's decision on everything. Even the way he treated his mother was something he copied from his father. He admired his father from a young age, so he always tried to follow in his footsteps, though his wishy-washy character prevented him from turning out like him.
He started being like that at the start of first grade, when the twin lion cubs, who had still been middle schoolers had arrived and challenged him. He had lost miserably causing him to stop training himself. He became a pathetic shell of his former self.
Eric had seen all the memories his master had in his brain but, he looked down on him. The way he treated that kind woman who had given birth to him was aggravating but, he couldn't say anything as he had to obey his master unconditionally, something branded in his mind and genes.
Elec browsed a couple more things but, all were out of the realm of possibility, so he logged out. He found Eric staring at him. It seemed he hadn't connected to the library.
'The way he is looking at me is off...should I tell my father?' Elec thought.
"Master! Its about 5 minutes to the end of break time! We will be late for class." Eric said.

"Its brother! Not master!" Elec chastised as he stood up. Leah also disconnected and they headed towards class.
Eric's loyalty to his master was unquestionable but he was little by little starting to gain the ability to think for himself.
Elec failed to notice that.
-------
At 8:00pm, the four were as usual, eating dinner when Baguma informed them about the additional guests they were going to have during the weekend.
Only Lisa was shocked, since the two boys already knew. Lisa managed to pick out the excitement from Baguma's calm voice.
'If you weren't obsessed with that woman..' She lamented in her mind.
She turned towards Eric who was enjoying his meal. He was the only bright light in her life which had been dark. Her son...on tge other hand...she even wondered if he was the one she gave birth to since he treated her coldly.
Lisa came from a minor clan, which, in order to attach itself to a behemoth known as the Masanyalaze clan had schemed marriage after knowing that she was pregnant with the clan leader's child. She was one of Baguma's many conquests.
She had been happy and naively thought that by having his son, she was special, but all that collapsed the moment he was born.
At first she had been angry and they even got into fights but she had grown weary and simply decided to fade into the background.
Divorce wasn't an option since Baguma refused with the explanation that it would tarnish his reputation.
So she had stayed in this dull life and persisted because she knew about the clone. She wanted to meet him.
"Father, should we harvest it early? I feel a weird vibe from it" Elec asked at this time while gesturing towards Eric.
Lisa who had been eating calmly stood up abruptly.
"If you touch even a hair on his head, I will kill you!" A voice so cold leaked out of her gritted teeth.
Elec shivered and shrunk under his mother's terrifying gaze. This was the first time that he saw such resolve and rage from her.
"It is inevitable. He will be harvested." Baguma said calmly as he continued to have his food.
"Over! My! Dead! Body!" She said each word calmly but Elec could feel as if a volcano was about to erupt.

"I have already resolved myself to die for my master!" Eric interjected. He was trying to ease the deteriorating situation.
Lisa lost all strength and sat back down after hearing his words.
'Why did they have to tie him to that boy as his servant?' She lamented.
'No...there must be ways to break the bond! If he gets his free will back, I will be able to prevent that from happening. Who should I ask?' She came to a decision. Light which had gone dim had returned to her eyes.
She was going to search for a gene specialist to find a way to break the brainwashing of Eric.
"The Mpologomas are coming this weekend, and their target must be him, so I will check if there is something wrong with the restrictions next week." Baguma said.
'How dissapointing! He lacks any backbone!' He thought to himself when he saw Elec cowering.
'There should be something I can do to change that.' He thought.
After the dinner, Elec and Eric retired to their rooms. Lisa was washing the dishes. Even though there were automations in this era, Lisa was raised doing chores so she refused any automation Baguma tried to buy for helping out with the chores.
She was washing the dishes but her mind wasn't at the task at hand.
'If I ask my father, he might warn Baguma. I need someone not connected with the ten clans'
"Clone, was there any problem with what I suggested at dinner?" Elec was asking. He was trying to gauge Eric's reaction.
"There was no problem! Any task you, as the master asks of me must be accomplished" Eric answered without any hesitation.
Elec failed to get what he wanted but he still didn't drop his guard.
"I order you to sleep!" He ordered.
Whenever he entered the virtual pod, Eric had been standing guard by his side. He hadn't cared then, but he was starting to wonder what was happening to his unprotected body. What if Eric rebelled and killed him?
He knew that he was being paranoid but, he wanted Eric to be unconscious so that would ease his fears.
Eric was going to argue that he needed to guard his master, but after sensing his thoughts, he went to his bed and laid down drifting into sleep.
Elec breathed in a sigh of relief when he heard the even breathing. He entered the virtual cabin.
In this era, the recovery of the biological cells was phenomenal so even though he entered the virtual cabin each night, his body's cells managed to gain plenty of rest. His brain cells also weren't affected.
------
The next morning, 9th June, a Wednesday, after the two boys went to school.
At around 9:00am, Lisa entered the elevator and went into the underground parking lot.
She didn't have a designated driver because since Baguma didn't care about her, the rest of the clan members treated her like she didn't exist, but she had a car which she had bought with her own money.
She entered it and drove towards the north of the city. Gene specialists not affiliated with the ten clans set up their laboratories in the city center around the school. It was also where the city residents not affiliated with the ten clans were situated.
It was done like that so that in case of a monster invasion(it hadn't happened yet.), the ten clans would be the defenders. It was one of the duties of being at the top.
Lisa was dressed warmly because today was a gloomy day. It was forecasted that it would rain around noon today. Satellites still functioned since no beasts could reach their orbits.
She parked inside a tall building owned by some small clan.
Inside it was a labaratory owned by one of her past acquaintances. She hadn't made an appointment because her phone was probably being tapped by the Masanyalaze clan. If what she was going to do leaked out, it might cause her and Eric's death.
After what Elec had suggested yesterday, she had decided to disown him. All her focus was placed on rescuing Eric.
She took the elevator to one of the middle floors and immediately went in search of that acquaintance.
"Oh! Look who came by! How long has it been since we last saw each other?"
A tall woman clad in a lab coat, a blouse and long pants excitedly hugged Lisa.
She was tall for a woman, even taller than her son who was the tallest in the family.
A smile containing excitement could be seen on her lips.

From a young age, Cary Simms knew that she wasn't like the other boys her age. She didn't know why or how that was, but it seemed apparent to the bullies of her school. Essentia Animus
Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.
