RB Chapter 9 Change
Tuesday, June 8th, 2199.
It is currently breaktime and the quad is occupying a table just like yesterday.
The only difference is that Elec seems to be deep in thought making Mordred and Leah curious.
"Elec, what happened to you? Since this morning, you have been like a whole different person!" Leah finally got around to asking.
She, along with the two brothers were occupying one side of the table while Mordred was on the other side, directly opposite Elec who was in the middle of Leah and Eric.
"I have found a goal...Something interesting to do...that's as much as I can explain."
"Hahaha...please...don't tease me. For as long as I can remember, you have been like a leaf. Tossed each other way in the wind. How can you get a goal now?" Leah mocked.
Even Mordred had a disbelieving expression on his face.
Elec, being a teenager, pouted in dissatisfaction.
"It is true! Don't mock m-brother! It is true! I can vouch for him!" Eric shouted. After that outburst, he panted heavily.
All the other students turned to look at them after hearing that voice.
Eric coughed in embarrassment before apologising and seating back down.
"By the way, I can't wait for this weekend!" Leah changed the topic as a twinkle appeared on her eyes.
"Quit it! That is a secret! I only told you because you are my friend! And what do you mean you can't wait? This is going to be between my family!" Elec asked.
"Oh! Your father must have not yet told you! My mother and I will also be joining the meeting. She sent a notification last night." Leah revealed.
"Hahhh! Why would you be coming? Could it be because your mother is...mmmm.." He felt Leah's soft hands on his mouth the moment he was going to voice his speculations.
He turned to look at her and saw that she had a scary look in her eyes.
Eric was also currently holding her wrist. It seemed he was about to electrocute her.
Leah was starting to feel a weakness in her arm.
She hurriedly removed it and Eric let go.
"He is more like your bodyguard than a brother!" Mordred commented. He pretended he didn't care about what secret they had been about to expose.

A commotion was heard and they all turned their eyes towards the entrance.
A woman, that's what Elec thought was the appropriate word to describe her, was walking towards them. She had those long legs which were causing the males in the cafeteria to salivate.
They were captivated by her beauty and they only woke up when she stopped at their table.
'Dangerous beast. Winning chance is zero!' That thought passed through Eric's head, the only one not mesmerised. Arcs of electricity even faintly appeared on his skin as he unconsciously triggered the morphing of his skin cells into electrocytes.
"You! Hanger-on, move away and go somewhere else!" She ordered Mordred to move away.
He looked like someone who had been relieved of a huge burden the moment he left.
"All the tables surrounding us must be vacated! Am giving you ten seconds!" She shouted.
The students who were occupying the tables around them hurriedly vacated without any complaints.
"It has started this year, you see them, they have resentment in their eyes, yet they didn't voice any! They must be plotting something!"
She said when she saw that they were staring at the students who had vacated with puzzlement in their eyes.
"What do you mean?" Leah asked. She didn't fear her since she was confident in her own power.
"I came here precisely for that!" She said before seating opposite them in the seat which had previously been occupied by Mordred.
"I have already warned the others and you are the last ones."
"We suspect that someone or some organisation, is going to try and overthrow the ten clans. Rumors have started spreading that a council is going to be formed to replace the ten clans!"
"That's absurd!" Elec raised his voice before seeing his behavior as unbecoming and sitting down forcefully out of embarrassment.
"Well, the ten clans system isn't exactly faultless, and it won't change but, letting go of our power shouldn't happen!" Elena said with zeal.
The others were shocked that she faulted the ten clans system. They hadn't thought that far yet.
"So what are you trying to say? That those weaklings will start a revolution?" Leah asked in disgust while gesturing towards her fellow students.
"As expected, you are still a naive little girl!" Dissapointment passed through Elena's eyes and she moved her gaze to the two boys.

Elec squirmed under her gaze and looked towards Eric, imploring him with his eyes to rescue him.
Leah's cheeks had puffed up but she couldn't come up with a valid retort.
"The population of the people is larger than those of the ten clans, if they all attack, they can't defend." Eric gave his thoughts on behalf of his master.
"Finally! Someone with brains. You two are a disgrace to the name of the ten clans." She insulted them but they swallowed it silently.
"He is right, but since we, the descendants have gotten arrogant, the populace is dissatisfied. So, I am giving you a warning, don't rile them up and also be wary!" She said.
"Anyone who tries to harm my m-brother, will have to go through me first!" Eric thumped his chest as he declared.
"Your enthusiasm won't really make any difference once multiple people gang up on you. You yourself know best what happens when you run out of steam." Elena shot him down.
'I would have poisoned you to death if you weren't from the top clan!' Leah thought.
"Anyway, what do you think is the worst that they could do?" Elec asked as fear gripped his heart. Elec, due to him growing up in a peaceful environment lacked a powerful will. Even Leah was better than him.
"Why are you, a timid little mouse the one in the same class as me?! I really wish you weren't?" Leah shouted at him.
'Mother was right! Should I request a class change?'
There were two other classes in the second grade.
Elec acted unfazed by her insults.
'I have already broadened my horizons! I want a harem like my father, now you don't matter to me woman!' He thought.
"This weekend, all of my family is coming to visit yours, but meeting you has disappointed me!" Elena said as she shook her head in dissapointment.
"Haah..." A sigh leaked out of Eric's mouth. It led to all staring at him weirdly.
Elec was the most shocked since a servant who was supposed to be loyal to him showed that he looked down on him.
'Is he starting to gain free will? How can he show such an expression?' Elec started feeling wary of Eric the moment that thought appeared in his head.
'Free will? Does master think of me as a puppet? How can that be?' Eric, who could see into Elec's mind pondered that thought.
"Anyway, give my regards to your clan leaders!" Elena said before standing up and walking out.
The students, who had been quiet all this time started talking the moment she left.
"Shit! Students with sensitive ears must have caught our conversation!" Cursed Elec.
"Even if they did, so what! They are still intimidated by us." Leah said smugly.
Though that didn't calm the timid Elec. Even Eric started looking the nearby students with wariness in his gaze.
"Anyway, half the time has passed, what can we do to pass the other half?" Leah asked as she stood up and stretched.
"Let's go to the library!" Elec suggested.
Mubiri high school had six classes for each grade, three for the genetics course and three for the mechanical course.
Students in the genetic course studied genes while those in the mechanical course studied about things like technology.
The mechanical course students were the ones who used the library often since the genetic course students had secrets to their genetic makeup which could only be archived in their respective clans.
Elec wanted to find something external which could complement his genetic prowess so he wanted to search for every device the mechanical students had ever made. In brutal terms, they were students who made support items for the genetic course students.
For example, instead of taking up a gene slot by adding night vision, you could just get a gadget which has that function.
Standing in front the technological marvel, were the trio who had just arrived.
The library was made entirely with a material which had the properties of glass and information was imprinted into its very walls. All you needed to do was enter and form a neural link, which would give you access to the vast database that it had.
Your search history couldn't be spied on as it would be deleted the moment you disconnected.
Elec was currently in a virtual room with tons of information floating in front of him.
It was data about all the devices which attacked with electricity. That's right. He wanted a device which allowed him to harness the electrical potential in his body.

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.
