《Modded Reality》Chapter 5 - Primal Chests

In the morning Wilton woke up in his disheveled grass skirt, covered in dirt, and in the dark with only light from the doorway reaching into his burrow. The halfling rubbed at his eyes before exiting the burrow. He shoved the heavy wooden door out of the way and exited the room. He went to the nearest oak tree and chopped it down. He collected three acorns from it.
He began to carve up the log and create boxes and barrels from it. He moved these rudimentary storage containers into his home and stored the rest of the unused oak as well.
The barrels he sat outside his burrow hoping that they would fill with rain water. The chests he began to fill with the stone and flint he still had. He takes some of the stones outside and builds a fire pit. He leans some branches together and throws some dead grass underneath the branches.
Maybe if he finds something to eat he can cook it here.
Wilton heads to the rushing brook and starts to walk down its path. It eventually meets up with another stream growing larger in the process. There are a few very small fish and tadpoles in the water. Nothing good for eating. He had only walked for an hour though, he could afford to walk a little further down the brook.
As he walked he took note of clay that was along the bank. The brook eventually feeds into a lake. There are geese, ducks, and bigger fish. Wilton wades out into the water and stands still with his spear posed to strike.
He notices on the far side there is a portion of the lake that is dried up. The water level is low enough to show more of the bank. The bank on that side has white streaks of salt deposits.
A fish swims by and the halfling skewers it with his spear. They would make for great food. He thinks about the fish disappearing and it does. He skewers three more before heading back to his burrow.
