“What do you want?
A mere seconds after he went to the surface, he was ambushed by it with trying to stab him with its stinger but failed.
And now it clicking its claws and circling around him. Hans stares at the scorpion annoyed before the scorpion leap at him, trying and failing to grab him with its claws and its stinger once again bouncing
Hans raise one of his claw and proceed slam it down.
The scorpion surprisingly agility as it dodged his attempt at killing it, the ground shatter as sands went everywhere, and leaving a small carter.
Hans pull his claw from the ground and began swinging both of his claws at the smaller scorpion.
The scorpion kept dodging his swings with it barely dodging some of his swings which led to Hans to start using his tail blade.
Facing the barrage of his claws, and tail blade, Hans came closer to crushing the small scorpion.
Then the small scorpion got swallowed by fox. The small fox stares at him as he saw a burgle going down its throat before running off in the distance.
He stares at the direction the fox ran off in before saying, “Welp, that was that I guess.
Then he head off.
“What does a pig said when it’s a hot day? ‘I feel like bacon!’”
You have slain [Marking Fox - Lv. 10]!
[Grapple - Lv. 9] Leveled Up!
[Grapple] has achieved the max level. Please choose your desired path for the skill to take.
Path of Constrict: Able to increase your grip and squeeze your target to death when grappling.
Path of Flexible: Make your limbs more flexible, making it so you grapple your opponent easier.
“Yeah I agree, that joke was horrible.” Hans drops the dead fox and turns his attention to the notifications.

“Hmm, so the choice is between being able to squeeze or be more flexible,” Hans muttered, reading the description.
Neither of the two was exactly amazing because while the Path of Constrict did at first glance since allowing him another way of eliminating his targets, he doubted was gonna be using it much.
After all, he didn’t use the skill [Grapple] at all, considering he had a skill that allow him to crush skulls, and a tail that has a blade on it that can also be coated in venom and didn’t exactly synergies well with his other skills.
In fact, lately he only been using the skill for two reasons. To wrestle a flying monster to the ground which seem be rare since he only encounter one or reason two, to level it up to what paths it has.
So, Path of Constrict wouldn’t make the skill any more useful.
Path of the Flexible on the other hand, while not as deadly as the Path of Constrict, does synergies well with his other skills.
After all, him being more flexible allow him to stretch his limbs further thus, increasing the range for skills like [Crush] and [Venom Slash].
And so, he chose Path of the Flexible.
Hans then felt his limbs begin have a tingling sensation throughout his body before it stopped just quickly as it started.
Congrats, [Grapple - Lv. MAX] has become [Flexible Grapple - Lv. 1]!
[Flexible Grapple- Lv. 1] - Improve one’s flexibility and allow them to move their body to a superhuman level.
He raises one of his claw and began moving it around. The movement was about the same expect he could move it further to left, right and up.
His tail’s movement was also less stiff than it was before.
Overall, the new skill was doing as it was intended.

Now, he need to level up the rest of his skills.
Hans felt claws and teeth, scratching, and gnawing at the hard exoskeleton of his claw, as a fanged rat tried and failed to do any damage to him before he stab his tail blade deep into its neck.
You have slain—
He barely registered the notification before he had dodged another rat lunging at him. Hans then proceeded to slam his claw into the lunging rat’s head, killing it.
Hans then pick up the dead rat and threw it at an acid spitter that was creeping toward him.
It spat acid at the corpse, turning it into a sizzling, melting, flesh ball and splatting onto the ground, around three to four feet from the snake.
You have slain [Fanged Rat - Lv. 6]!
The acid spitter hisses and raises half of its body upright, rattling its tails, looking vigilant and ready to attack at any sudden movement.
Hans narrows his eyes, clicking his claws, and began slowly circling the snake, observing it for any weakness.
The first thing he notices was that the acid spitter was larger than most of its kind, its tail had serrated edges to them, had dark - yellow scales, and a shrewd look in its eyes.
He most definitely would have to be careful around it.
Only the sound of rattling and the clicking of claws could be heard as the two waited for each other to make the first move.
And Hans was the one to do so.
Digging his claws into the ground, and proceeded to throw a large amount of sand at the acid spitter, in an attempt to obscure its vision.
The acid spitter responds with a glob of acid at him, missing him as Hans dug into the ground and disappears.
Seeing this, the acid spitter hisses and began scanning its surroundings, now even more vigilant and tense.
Hans then leaps out of the ground, his claws raised and ready to club the snake.
However, to his surprise, Hans found himself smack to the ground, and acid covering his back, causing him to hiss in pain but ultimately, the acid was unable to cause any serious damage.
[Pain Resistance - Lv. 2] Leveled Up!
“You know, I expected many things, but what I didn’t expect was just how weak your acid is. I mean, the last guy who managed to splash me with acid, melt one of my claws off, while you can’t even do any last damage to my back!” Hans said in a mocking tone.
“It’s especially embarrassing considering that display you had with that dead rat! Guess you acid spitter can’t do anything right, huh?”
The acid spitter while unable to understand the words that Hans had said, was able to understand the meaning behind them.
Thus, it proceeded to tear its head back, its cheeks begin to burgle, before letting out a large a glob of acid the size of a human head.
”Oh shit.”
Hans dives toward his left, just barely avoiding the large glob of acid as it melts through the sands, and creates a hole in the ground that was still sizzling.
You have learned [Taunt - Lv. 1]!
Hans took a long stare at the sizzling hole before turning his gaze to the acid spitter.
”I still stand by what I just said.”

8 252Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
