Chapter 16

Liria, capital of Lolrena

Ace’s part (lvl 53 illusionist +3 s/h)

Yesterday, Aliah said she is going to take us to Liria today.Liria is capital of Lolrena, here, there are many things we can do while staying, such as buying clothes, buying books, buying electric devices, buying weapons and buying perk items. Liria is a trade city after all. You can find everything you need here. At least this is what I read in a book about Liria. Me, Quasar, Nora, Aliah and last but opposite of least, Morilus is going to set off to the downtown to see if it’s true. Aliah said she is going to take 300 silver with her and let us spend as much as we want in whatever we want, in thanks for the Valahan occasion. 300 silver is a huge ton of money for a commoner here, considering that GDP per capita in Lolrena is only about 2.1K per year. To us, however, it's mm… I would say a decent amount. Not too small yet not to big. However though, it would be more than enough for a day’s tour if we don’t get our hands on some strong perk items, artifacts, rare magic scrolls, rare magic tools, or ancient books. Sadly those 5 things are exactly what I was looking for, which is why I asked Nora and Quasar to slide me some money. Along with the money I had, I am currently holding 13K silver, which is a lot. Suddenly, Nora shouted “Ooo, that milkshake looks delicious!” “Nora, that’s not a milkshake,” added Aliah, “that’s an wool shake.” Wool shake? They totally do have everything here. Aliah said “It’s one of the main drinks of Shepard state. It has a funny taste, you can try it if you want,” as she handed Nora 2 silver coins. “No thank you, I am not spending my 2 silver on that thing. I mean, it’s technically your silver, but still.” “Aight then I’ll only buy mine.” “Oh wait, buy mine too,” I added hastedly. “Okay, me and Ace, how about you Quasar and Morilus?” “No thanks,” replied Quasar. “Nope, that thing looks disgusting,” commented Morilus. After that Aliah bought us 2 shakes and gave me one. I started drinking. “Eww, this feels so wrong!” I shouted. “Hmm? Doesn’t it feel like you have clouds in your throat?” Aliah asked. “No, it feels like I have wool on my throat,” I answered. “Mmm… okay, sorry about that then,” she apologized. “No need to apologize, I said I will try it out, guess I won’t do that next time.

Ha, I knew that wasn’t going to end well. Ace coughed out some of the drink as soon as he swallowed some. Too bad for Ace. I already knew what it tasted like and avoided drinking one this time. I still don’t get why some people like it. They say that it feels like they have clouds in their throat. To me however, it just feels like I have wool in my throat. I better just go get a milkshake instead. “Alright Ace, Imma go get a milkshake for you and me.” “Alright, thanks Nora, I’ll be getting some expensive things I need for my research.” After me and Ace started heading in separate directions, Quasar instructed. “Sure do, both of you meet us back in the market’s center.”

I setted off for the premium magic store I set my eyes on on our way here. Magic related stuffs vary a lot in cost, from costing tenth of a silver to costing ten thousand silver. I was intent on buying some that were closer to the ten thousand silver side, rather than the tenth. While having these thoughts in my head, I stepped into the store. “Welcome to the Millenium Magic Madness Liria branch.” said the worker inside. Then added “How may I help you?” I replied with a cheerful voice, “I am actually look for some Mad ranked things.” “MAD RANKED? Come inside to the VIP’s secret area!” she added while trying to hold back her shock. Mad ranked things are so powerful and expensive that there are hardly any people who buy them. Not that there aren’t many people who can afford them, many can, they just have no intention to spend a bunch of money on things that they don’t really need. I do however, I mean I do have the need and not mean I would spend a bunch of money on things I don’t need. That would be a fool’s errand. “So, what exactly do you want, sir?” asked the worker. “Does this store have one of those chaos magic converters?” Chaos magic converter is an item that could convert chaos magic into an actual working magic spell, and vice versa. It is used mainly by the magic inventors to try and figure out new spells or create one with the right mix of energies. I though, was intent on doing the opposite, and I can see that the worker realized that too, because she asked “You sure? Converting set forms of magic into chaos magic can be very dangerous. It’s simply just pure energy, it would be very hard to control.”

“I am going to start with non dangerous tasks to figure out the properties of the chaos magic, then move on to more dangerous ones. I think I can manage, thank you.”

“Well, then here’s your chaos magic converter, it would cost 11K silvers”

“Here you go, oh and also how much is the scroll of dreamcast, scroll of cheondung and history of Rogue Continent secret edition?”

“Scroll of dreamcast is 250, scroll of chundung is 1.5K and the history of Rogue Contient secret edition is 100”

“Aight, here you go, see you later.”

I bought 4 items I needed and left the store. Combined cost of the 4 items were 12850 silver, and I only have 150 silver left. Money is an important aspect of being a mage, since strong spell scrolls and magic related stuff are so expensive.

It took me forever to find a store that sold some milkshakes. Why is this place full of stores with WOOLSHAKES? Who even likes them? Well, actually, seeing all the lines at one of the woolshake places, I guess many people here like wood shakes. Anyways, as I was leaving the store, something very unexpected happened. Note that I was very close to the eastend of the Liria due to walking like forever to find a milkshake store. East means I was close to the border of the Tal empire. Surprisingly, it looks like the Tal empire decided to carry out a surprise invasion at the Liria. The warning alarm started to ring out at the market, I saw many people panicking and running away. While others were either hiding or preparing to fight. “Oh shit, I gotta tell the others” I murmured as I started to run for the center of the market. Unsurprisingly, though, this wasn’t easy. There were many others who was doing the same, which meant that I couldn’t run very fast, since the others were blocking my path and they were nowhere near as fast as me. I was trying to get out of this mess as fast as possible, when something awful sounded from my back. “Duck, a fireball!!” As somebody shouted this, people started to split to both sides. However they weren’t fast enough. Thankfully, due to my speed I was able to dodge without much effort, however this weren’t the case for 10 others near me. 8 of them had enough hp to survive the fireball, though 3 of the survivors looked severely injured. For the 2 people who weren’t, they got abliterated by the fire ball in an instant. One a young boy looking like 10 or 11, and one a young women looking like 20s. Their body got shattered and their blood got spewed all over the street. Which caused others to panic even further. I was caught between the fury and fright. One part of my body was telling me to run away as quickly as possible, however the other part of my body, to even my surprise, was telling me to go fight the ones who caused this. Yes, I killed some people in my career, but… but never like this. I didn’t shoot fireball at random people to die like that. I have never done anything near. All the people I killed were people who I knew, who were either blocking my path of progression or was deserving of death. Alright, I know no act ever should be a reason to die. Probably except for shooting lethal fireballs at the random people. But you get my point, I don’t go around killing random people. It’s just not right to do so. Of course, I hardly ever think I am a good or moral person, in fact, I am near the opposite. However, looking at this, I realize how there are so many people on this continent that would do much more than me when the power is at stake.

Sadly, I don’t have bravery nor strength to turn back and fight the agressors. All I can do right now is, run, report and come back. As I was thinking through this, my leg was moving hella fast without my realization. Before I could realize I were at the center of the market, Morilus stopped me. She asked, “what’s wrong Nora? Why are you running like some aliens have invaded?” “Cause they did.” “What? Aliens aren’t real, or at least even if it is, they won’t be able to contact us.” “Not the Aliens, the Tal Empire is here…”
