It didn't take long for Dusk and Winter to burst from the cave snarling and rearing for a fight, Meaire on the other hand was pretty excited when she first saw Winter and Dusk rather than scared. Alex on the other hand I think died... He stumbled over his feet before quickly standing back up using his sword as a kind of Krutch, beads of sweat dripping quckly pooled on his forhead before dripping down his face. The one I found the most odd was Brue... he didn't make a sound nor move.
Just silently stared.
After a couple of minutes of explaining to Winter and Dusk they got the gist of it pretty quickly. Dawn soon came out and I introduced Meaire and Brue to her. They were slow at first but Meaire and Dusk ran off into the woods shortly after to play tag or something, dragging Brue close behind of course.
After a few minutes of talking to Winter and Dawn I finally convinced them. We decided to sit down with Alex and have him tell us about the human village nearby. Most of the information Winter and Dawn had was old or broken parts of legends, they've been away for too long. so anything he said was useful.
He stumbled at first but after he saw how interested everyone was, it seems he got more comfortable. From details about the nearby village or old myths and stories spread around about the area.
It would have taken quite a long time to gather this much intel about the human world. But with Alex working under us it will be much faster. he sounded more of a story teller then a proper warrior now that I think about it... From the details surrounding towns and such it seems that this place is very heavily reliant on swords and magic… Not even the most basic circuits or AI are made here.

We'll have to look into it another time... For what I've been told most humans follow either go three ways 1. Mercenary, 2. Clans or 3. Serving under a King, As a noble or Knight. While there are who stray from the normal path such as priests who follow the church and a few others. The town nearby is mostly populated by citizens and Knights serving a nearby king. Only recently has there been a mercenary outpost there. That's where Alex received the job to kill a Demon Elf, Along with two other men they met up at the forest edge, Where the priest was said to be the employer leading them deep into the "Rotwood forest."
Rotwood forest… I finally have a location. Looking over at Dawn and Winter they seemed just as surprised.
“Alex, Why’s it called Rotwood?”
“Ah well, whenever the forest’s wood was cut down and used to build houses or burned they would start smelling like rotting corpses. So we Don't use the food or most resources that grow from the forest here.”
Looking over at Winter and Dawn they both seemed pretty confused. All three of us have pretty strong noses but we never noticed? Without delay Alex began talking about different stories and tales he heard.
Of the various stories he told there was nothing ever spoken of as a “God of Creation.” instead of there's quite a large quantity of names varying from the goddess Nafi of Light or Kai the god of earth magic. There seems to be plenty of “gods and demons” here. But the names never seemed to line up with what I've been told up until now…
While there were a few basic rumors of miracles created by gods or priests healing people in the name of a god. There were a few stories that caught my attention. Like the downfall of the Demon army and its bloody ruler or the tale of the forgotten gods. They just seem a little… off.

Mearie, Alex and Brue didn't take nearly as long to get settled within the night, Mearie and Brue were sleeping comfortably next to winter and Dawn, While Alex and Dusk were having a chat sitting around the fire at the front of the den.
I decided to go for a walk up the mountain again… I just couldn’t stop thinking about those stories… They were just so different from what I've been told so far…
~ Demon army's downfall.
The war between the two races has gone on for so long there practically no one remembers the real reason… It's just like adding fuel to the fire, No one remembered who attacked who first. Both sides desperately wanted to win the war, sending a massive army to each other until finally they both had enough, sending out all of their troops they came to an all out war in the center of the realm… it was a massacre thousands of humans, gods, demons and beasts all died to protect their territories along with their leaders. In the end it took the effort of all 60 gods accompanied by servant priests at the time to kill the demon king, Forcing all demons and anything alike to go into hiding creating a whole new type of war zone… With no leader the demons and beast Roamed the realm freely creating new territory and trying to reclaim the throne of the fallen demon king.
Sense then it's been a bloody feud between humans and the demon kind, some places have learned to live with demon folk but not many most are shunned or even killed.
Kicking a bit of snow beneath my feet I started walking faster up the top of the hill.
Why'd everyone have to fight in the first place… who cares about land there should be plenty…
As I got closer to the peak of the mountain I was deep in thought so much that I hadn't realized it had started snowing again… Standing at the peak of the mountain I started staring off at the edge of the first line.
“Why don't we just leave each other alone… or at least live together?”
Sitting atop the mountain I deeply stared off into the stars that night. Almost all of them were new to me… it really is a new place. I decided to name a couple while I was lost in thought... "Ox, fox Snake... the fallen soldier" These were just a couple I connected that night. For a couple hours I thought about everything…
By the time I finished it was almost morning but the snow hadn't let up at all. But that didn't matter; it felt warm… comforting. Standing up I moved slowly down the icy mountain separating the snowy banks as I walked. When I finally reached the bottom of the hill the sun was just barely reaching above the treetops.

The Adventures of Alan
What happens when a university professor somehow ends up in another world, where magic bends the laws of nature? Alan is, albeit unwillingly, about to find out. As a professor of physics, he has a decent understanding of how the world works, or so he likes to think. Armed only with his knowledge, Alan is thrown into a world very different from his own. In his new reality, he will meet both friends and foe, he will seek knowledge, he will build power, and perhaps he will even find love again? Follow Alan through his adventures, and find out for yourselves how he deals with the challenges thrown at him by a new world, while struggling with the issues brought with him from his old one. * Author’s note: A fair warning. This is the first time I’ve published anything, and basically the first time I’ve written anything more than mandatory school-stuff. The story will probably have inconsistencies, grammatical errors (not my native tongue, though that excuse is getting old), and potentially confusing (missing?) plot. I will naturally do my best to write something worth reading, but my main goal in writing this story is to have fun and explore the limits of my own creativity. My hope in publishing it here, is that I’ll reach someone who enjoy the story, and can push me forward towards writing more, as it is difficult at times to find the motivation to write just for myself. Additionally, I can’t really promise to have regular updates, as I have a full-time job that often likes to take the ‘full-time’ part literally, and a sporadic social life that occasionally surprises me (happy surprises mostly, so I shouldn’t complain). I’ll aim for once a week to start with, and take it from there. Happy reading! Cover photo by Jeff Hire (/photographer/gun4hire-58415), from https://freeimages.com/.

Contact First
2039 - Earth A narrow beam energy signal appeared aimed squarely at earth from the TRAPPIST system. The communication consisted of a layered set of repeating data over several thousand wavelengths. Over the next few months scientists discovered that the lower wavelengths carried an encoded numerical language which could then be used to interpret the more complicated messages carried on the higher wavelengths. After half a year of painstaking work the signal was fully decoded. It described a small satellite launched along a precise trajectory towards the fourth planet of our solar system. Included was a package of advanced research that humanity would need to have ready in order to receive the satellite and decelerate it safely. The alien data provided the kick that humanity needed to turn from petty squabbling and unite to explore the final frontier. Major government and corporate leaders worked together to create the framework for the United Federation of Sol. UFS spaceports went from scaffolding to daily launches in every major city around the globe. Ships floated like dandelion seeds, spreading on solar wind to grow into colonies. 2397 - Mars orbit, Egeria Station The command center was a hive of activity as checks were conducted and systems initialized. Scientists flitted by like mayflies as communicators beeped and holoscreens spat out green tinted readouts. Nervous energy was thick in the air as everyone anticipated the culmination of over three hundred years of work. Massive fusion reactors under the planet's surface thrummed with barely restrained power as energy fed into a gleaming metallic maze criss crossing the planet. Metal fingers reached up, overshadowing the mighty olympus mons and trying to grab the stars. All over the solar system, people quickly turned to look as gigantic energy lances shot from the dusty fourth planet. Two years later. The same people that clapped loudly at the successful activation of project Hermes now wait with baited breath. A silver capsule trailing bright photonic sails is captured by a net of grav beams and guided with care bordering on reverence into the station. Holoscreens across the headquarters project an image of the sleek craft settling in the bay. Data connections are established and the holoscreens blink to white. Slowly an image forms on the screen. Across the headquarters people stare in wonder as a wholly alien face stares back. "Contact established. Welcome to the universe."

This collection chronicles the horrific contents of my brain in poetic form. This is not for the faint of heart. It contains terrifying moments of murder, suicide, mayhem, rituals, hauntings, and nightmares in various poetic forms from ballads to sonnets and many more. Most of these pieces are oneshot tales, but the "Haunted Blades" ballad sequence is marked with an asterisk (*) throughout the collection to denote an interconnected series of poems.
