《dreadnaught: scifi apocalypses space marine》chapter 26: alliance

“ So I am guessing we have at most a week before we start seeing scouts for the bugs. Which would mean that I would guess we have maybe ten days before it becomes too dangerous to work outside. Even under heavy escort. The first order of business would be to get a perimeter wall and some lookout towers set up around the entire safe zone.”
This caused the guild leader of the Adventurer Guild to point at the presented map of the safe zone and the surrounding area.
“ Why not just wall off those two sides the bugs will be coming from.”
This time it is Charle of the Roughnecks to speak.
“ You know nothing of bug fighting kid. They are going to come at us with such numbers that we will make mounds of corpses and still get surrounded within the hour. What we could see in the video is they have basic worker and soldier ants coming, but who knows what else. Not only that, we should expect bug holes to appear too. I wish we had mini-nukes to plug them back up.
In addition, we have a lot of losing conditions. We got to hold them for at least twenty-four straight hours. They have such numbers, it matters more if one of us dies than a thousand of them. Then there is the fact that we got to protect a bunch of noncoms. If I could I would get them out of here, but my bet is their best bet is to stay here. I just wish we could kit every one of them with a weapon and put them on the wall.”
The yoda look alike then pointed something else out.
“ Tire, we will. Exhaust our supplies, we must. But only together shall we survive.”

David rubs his chin in thought.
“ Here are my thoughts and our groups. My group is small, but we can bring a huge punch to the game. So we patch up failing defenses. I, naturally, will stay at the spearhead. The Jedi are fast-moving melee fighters. They can act as our fast-reacting strike force for bug holes and breaches my team can not get to. The Roughnecks will be the follow-up to the Jedi. Acting as the hammer to their knife. As for the adventurers, they know how to work themselves best. But heads up, if any of them are caught outside the walls we are not risking our necks to help them.”
“ That is fine with us, they know they can not collect on the bounties if they are dead.”
This caused David and a few others to raise an eyebrow.
“ Bounty?”
The guild master nods.
“ Yep, one of the unique perks of our guild is that we get credits for every monster kill we get. In addition to loot rates. The bitch is the system takes a cut of everything we get and we do not get a choice in the matter.”
David looked at the man and made a decision and raised his fist toward the man.
“ Add me as a contact. I might have work for you one day.”
After the fist bump and the new contact added to his menu, he then offered it to the other.
“ When this battle is over. I and the Order of Free Wardens will consider each of you a friend. Let us know if you ever need aid. If I can give it, you shall have it.”
After each of them bumped their fists with his own, all of them were surprised to find a notice popped up.

[A formal alliance has been formed.
Alliance members contribute the following:
The Adventurer Guild- a large and diverse fighting force. Weaker at lower levels on average, at higher levels they are stronger than most individuals of a similar level.
The Jedi Order- A martial order with a strict code, the Jedi order is a modest sized group specializing in energy based melee swords and high agility. Has physic powers.
The Roughnecks- A military PMC specialized in anti-arthropod tactics. This modest group has higher success rates against arthropod type enemies and lower rate against other types.
The Order of Free Wardens- one of three founding seats in an fledgling oligarchy, supplying their partners with superior technological and financial might. What they lack in numbers and history they more than make up for in visions of the future and a determination to back it up.
The following allies provide the following benefits.
The Adventurer Guild- all beast kills will contribute a small earning of credits after combat.
The Jedi Order- +1 Dexterity and +1 Wisdom
The Roughnecks- +10% damage and defense against arthropods
The Order of Free Wardens- all crafted items are made automatically with a +1 modifier. Each allied faction has the ability to take up to a 100,000,000 credit loan at a system enforced 1% interest a year.
The ‘unnamed’ oligarchy- The Free Wardens may call upon their countrymen for aid.]
This began with a few whistles but quickly died down once people started reading what David and his Order were offering.
“ Surprising, this is. Much to discuss, we do.”
“ Yea, I thought we marines had to stick together.”
“ It was quite obvious he was working on bigger plays.”
As all three spoke David could only sigh at the massive headache the system had just given him. He just hoped the NG people did not find out about this.
