《dreadnaught: scifi apocalypses space marine》chapter 13: Duel

There must have been well over a hundred survivors from the crash. Most of them started to use them as cover while others either made a break for it back the way they came or toward the cars most of the people were using as cover.
David could not allow that as he took aim to the coffee shop that had been abandoned and cleaned out earlier. Both the employees and all the goods liberated were already at the convention and all the SWAT people were on the second floor. So he held no hesitation as he started spinning his barrels again and took aim at the front doors of the coffee shop.
Then he slowly began to turn his body at the hip towards the wrecks. About halfway he ran out of nato and automatically switched to his secondary fire. During it he noticed his barrels starting to glow hot.
“ {Overheat}”
Instantly his barrels caught fire and his laser shots grew even brighter. By the time his ammo completely depleted his suit was getting warning signs about the barrels. He probably just ruined them forever. Not as badly as the first two rows of wrecks the gangbangers were hiding behind, as they were on fire. As we're a few others further back with punctured fuel tanks or lines and caught a flaming round right.
With his work done, David walked back to the two officers and hit the emergency disconnect for the minigun feed. Which basically force stripped the bolts holding it onto his back via a micro explosive underneath them. He then set the worn-down weapon behind the cement wall.
“ Hey, pendejo. Get out here.”
David looked at the officers who were looking at the one that was talking.
“ That’s Ser Grandor Jose, Part of the cartel. The local lieutenant of the muscle. He is in what I believe is Luchador getup.”

David lowered his shoulders noticeably to the two before straightening back up.
“ Great, another asshole to deal with. Think you can give me cover?”
The one officer he gave the ammo to before laughed lightly as he looked at his Glock.
“ I think he tanked your gun for some of his people. Maybe his boss.”
David closed his eyes, annoyed. He knew there would be people who could tank 1200 rounds per minute from his minigun but never expected to run into one this soon. He had burnt through his full ammo stock, his stock of mana in {Supply Depo} and even burned his offensive skill. And now it sounds like he was in for a melee tank fight.
Without any choice, well, he had choices, but they all amounted to stalling, David stepped back from behind the wall and once again walked in front of the officers. A big Mexican man, six foot three at least and a good two-fifty weight range of solid muscle stood no more than ten meters away from him. By the looks of him, he did take several good hits from his M-134. As signs of welts and bruises were starting to appear all over his arms and chest. Which had signs of once being a shirt of a colorful design now shredded.
“ Are you giving up?”
“ No Ese, it is you who should give up. Without your toy you are nothing.”
David tried to shrug his shoulders but the suit could not make the action so he just lifted his hands' palms up a little.
“ Look, I have no beef with you. You can take your surviving men back with you. More than likely the vehicles in the back slowed down enough to still be drivable. Just leave the gear on the dead where it lays.”

“ No, Ese, I can not do that. The boss needs the resources here for what he has planned next.”
David squinted his eyes to focus on the wrestler and noticed his stance was one ready to charge.
“ I can not let you take them, I am afraid.”
“ Come work for us, Ese. I can see you are a merc. Women, money, whatever you want. We can use a man like you.”
David had to struggle from keeping from laughing before he lowered his hands.
“ A generous offer I am sure. And I have no doubt I would be widely welcomed. But you made a serious mistake. Before you a {Dreadnaught Stand}s.”
[{Dreadnaught Stand}: For the next 60 seconds, become an unmovable object. All defense is doubled. Nearby allies in viewing distance of you up to fifty feet will receive the {indomitable will} perk as long as you do not take a step back. Those with the perk, yourself included, will be harder to force back. Either by physics, magic or intimidation.}
“ Si Ese, and your armor will be a great trophy when I rip it off your body.”
As soon as the wrestler was done talking he began to shoulder charge David at full speed. David barely had time to react as the man shoulder speared David in the appendix. Too bad David was like a steel poll and he could hear the bones in the man's shoulder snap upon impact. As David went for the Ka-Bar on his back, he noticed that his hip got lighter as well. Using his free left hand he grabbed the uninjured shoulder of the attacker as he tried to move away. Finding David’s grip and strength too much, He pointed the revolver at his face.
“ You lose, Ese.” then pulled the trigger. To the wrestler's surprise, the revolver let out a click. In that moment of confusion, David pulled the man into the newly revealed Ka-Bar from his back.
“ Next time trash talk after you kill the man.”
Pushing the man away, his blade slid out of his chest as blood started coming from his mouth. He turned to run but only made it two steps before he either bled out or drowned in his own blood.
After that, it was the cleanup.

8 95She Who Reigns the Stars [Vol. 1]
*Remastered version of She Who Reigns the Stars* Tell me, what will become of us? Presenting your Goddess… Asteria, Supreme Deity of Stalera, the nation of the Universe. She who rules the stars with steel eyes and an iron will, the glorious, the beautiful, the adored Goddess, has now fallen under the hands of her nemesis… The Archfiend, Emperor of Talonis, the nation of Vice and its Shadows, has now assumed reign over Stalera after the death of the Goddess. With the power of Vice, its Shadows, and the Universe, it is assumed that he would be satisfied now that Stalera was under his mercy, and the other two nations of Yelerna and Antalis would follow suit. But much to our surprise, he isn’t because he still lacks the… Ruby, The Goddess’ last attempt to save her empire and the entirety of the Universe. Before her death, the Goddess sealed a portion of her blood, which contained the remaining powers of the Universe the Archfiend hadn’t obtained, away from his grasp. She entrusted it to one of her Zodiac Warriors, a member of her elite service known as the Zodiac Warrior Circle, and instructed him to hide the precious jewel on Earth. The restoration of Stalera and the defeat of the Archfiend would lie in the hands of whoever inherited the ruby jewel. Those who inherited the ruby were known as the Goddess’ Successor, and the one next in line to inherit it is… Auriella Corentin. Life was never the same for Auriella the night her Grandmama gave her the ruby jewel and died, thrusting the poor girl into a world of magic. Now in possession of the Goddess’ blood, it wouldn’t be long until the Archfiend found her, killed her, and obtained her ruby inheritance. But Auriella never wanted this responsibility, not when she had her own past and inner demons to battle against. Nevertheless, she finds herself seeking an alliance with the Zodiac Warriors and a strange barista as she learns to wield the powers the Goddess bestowed to her. But as frequent demon attacks, a secret admirer (or stalker), strange notes, and a handsome, amber-eyed boy pile onto her plate, it is no longer clear whether the universe needed Auriella to be their savior or to be the Goddess’ (inferior) replacement. A Goddess in need of redemption. Four Nations at the brink of destruction. Our question still remains unanswered… What will become of us? [Updates Monday, Wednesday, Friday @8pm PST]
