《The Awakened World》Vol. 1, Ch. 4 : Intelligent Creature Resources Department

"I.D. please."
"Uh, Here."
"Alice Windshaw?"
"…Yes."
The security guard stares at me for what seems like an eternity.
"Ok, go on ahead."
"O-Okay."
Somehow I made it past security even though most of my features have changed, but neglecting that fact for the moment I make my way to the former Intelligent Creature Resources Department. After walking through the door I am greeted with our sole I.C.R representative, Alan.
"Oh, hello, are you new here? This is the I.C.R. department."
His monotone voice hasn't changed from last time I was here.
"Umm, no, it's me, Alice?"
"Oh, Alice. You've changed."
"Yeah, I have. Umm, so as you can see most of my physical features have changed."
"Yes, I can see that."
"And I need to update my I.D."
"Okay, we can get that done."
After that we took my picture and put it on a brand new card. Then I had to pay a small fee for the new card. Once that was done I had to sign and fill out twelve different packets because of both my injury and my new I.D. Such as a form to train the guards to recognize the new card. Which reminds me I do wonder why that guard didn't stop me.
"Hey, Alan, do you know why the guard didn't stop me at the front?"
"Oh, that's because he has a high leveled Observe skill."
"How does that work?"
"Hmm, how much do you know about eye skills?"
"Well, I have Night Vision, but other than that not much."
"Well, allow me to speak for a bit and then you can ask questions afterwards. First of all, there is no skill to view another person's status. Now, while we do not have that; we do have skills that can fulfill similar requirements. Observe can give people improved eyesight, similar to skill of the same name, and ,at high levels, lies and illusions. Appraise gives a person the ability to view the monetary value of an object, and Inspect can give you information on a creature's species."

"So how do the guild systems know people's statuses then?"
"All guild workers are required to have a high level Observe and they just ask questions."
"How do you know all of this?"
"Ah, I used to work at the Neutral Guild, or as some who read too many novels call it, the Adventurers' Guild."
"That's all I have to do today, Alan. Thank you for your time."
"No problem Alice, I just don't want to hear another complaint about you again. And uhh, I believe you don't have to come for the rest of the week.
"All right then, good bye."
"Good bye."
Going back to my apartment I sit down and turn on the T.V. but it just serves as white noise as I start thinking about how my future has changed. I have changed most of my body and became beautiful but other than that not much. I am still the same accountant working a relatively well paying job in an office where I stand on a neutral ground with everyone. I don't really know if anything will change in the future or if I should do anything with these powers.
"Breaking News! Emperor Micro has saved a burning orphanage, and here on the scene is Robert McGrath."
"Well, thanks Harry. Here we have Emperor Micro who has the ability to shrink objects seemingly limitlessly. Oh, Emperor Micro could we ask you some questions?"
"Hmph, sure, I got time."
"Uh, how did you use your power to save the orphanage?"
"I just shrunk the fire."
"How did you do that?"
"I just did, it's my power, so it works the way I want it to; now go, I have important business in the Guild. I work on commission, so get out of the way."

Hmph, what an asshole. He couldn't just answer some simple questions? That isn't how a hero should act.' It was at that moment I had an epiphany, my purpose for my abilities, my use of the System. I could become a hero, not like those self-centered pricks, but someone that adults and children alike could look up to.
With vigor and almost intoxicating amount of ambition, I look to the Hero's Guild website for information.

Singularity [Fantasy-LitRPG | Hard SF]
After an accident that nearly claimed his life, Arnel has become Humanity's first Mind-Machine Interface, the fusion of Artificial Intelligence and human consciousness. In the competitive, virtual fantasy world of Singularity, this gives him tremendous and unfair advantages. However, there is a small problem; The AI he shares his mind with is not a harmless helper program, but a vast, sentient intelligence created for war, and capable of not only predicting the future, but influencing it to a degree of certainty. Coincidentally, possession of such an intelligence is equivalent to possessing nuclear armaments for which the punishment is death.

The Trespasser
Synopsis Following his di—instincts, David finds himself in a weird situation; the next thing he knows, he's in a different world, dying, and manhandled by a big-ass alien. When the Source comes to his aid, granting him the access that—like every other sapient—he's due, David barely manages to get out of the fight with his life intact, but is that enough? Of course it isn't. The very Source giving him powers is also poisoning him to death. Oh, there she is, the petite female alien. Will that be enough to save him? Of course it won't. If he wants to be saved, he has first to save himself. The only way to do so is by getting to know the world around him, but even before that... Why the bloody hell did I have to be called Deviant!? *** Blurb? Blurb. The Trespasser starts slowly, I believe I've written a decent world, and I want you to find out what it's all about, won't just throw it in your face because of *levels*. I do not like stories that don't make sense. David is not a murderhobo, he respects life and answers to the world and the weird situations thrown at him with irony and sarcasm; so you are looking for easy killing streaks, you will not find them here. So, a man finds himself into the wild? It's a different world, and yet he can breathe its air? Finds himself in a lucky-low-level zone? Oh, look at that, people speak English—how likely is that? So, nope, not for me, gentleman. You won't find anything of the likes here. Again, a man finds himself in a new world but only thinks about the system? Yeah, that's not exactly how it works. David will try to find out what it's really all about, what the aliens want, how they work, why is that Fay really helping him? You can kill somebody to get levels, and yet there is not even a form of police? Not gonna happen here. Man becomes suddenly overpowered in a world where people can live for thousands of years by having enough luck to face only lower-level people? Hahaha—nope. Lastly...Spaceships and fantasy with LitRPG... say what!? Well, what's wrong with that? Let's make it happen, shall we? *** You want even more info? Really? Alright... David will start from the very bottom of the food chain, so there will be a settling arc—it's inevitable. David will find true companions, with personalities and backstories, and they will have a life of their own. There will be enemies, and those enemies will have a life of their own, too; there will be no evil just because. The world-building will have true depth; it will not exist just because the protagonist visits it. There will be both Fantasy and (Soft) Sci-fi—yeah, you heard that right. There will be rationality to every action taken, as long as the characters are aware of what is going on. There will be a godly system. You will come to read because of the world-building, but you will stay for the characters. The dead stay dead, and you will weep for them. There will be no action without a reaction. Lastly, there will be laughs. Are you still up for it? Then get in but fasten your seatbelts because it's going to be a wild ride. *** Release Days: Twice a week Release Time: ~09:00 PM UTC Words per chapter: ~3000 This web novel is also available on other platforms.
