《Solitude's Requiem》Lucille's Light

I look at the horizon and see a welcome sight, A city shining its light in this dark realm. It's a surreal feeling, to see a city after all this time. I would be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to it. However, I have to stay alert. Cornelius has warned me repeatedly and while I like to ignore most of his unnecessary chatters. He has helped me a lot and doesn't seem to be harboring ill will.

“I can't follow you in the city, my dear boy.” He signs in a gloomy tone.

“I figured as much.”

He did seem to be preparing me as if he wouldn't be there. A familiar feeling overflows me once more. It's the same feeling I had when I was hospitalized or when I first arrived here. The dread of solitude.

“Now, now I will still be able to show up when you're alone somewhere. However, I can't risk powerful demons seeing me. I'm not a spirit made for combat, and certain demons will have the ability to enslave me.”

I can see anger and frustration in his eyes. It's a shame that he can't come, but I won't ask him to throw his life away for my sake. He's done more than enough.

“It's fine, I might even get to rest my ears for a little now.”

“You sly brat!” He quickly yells before recomposing himself.

He gives me a look and a sigh before he disappears.

“On my own, huh.” I mutter under my breath as I make my way towards the front gate.
