《Storm of Fate》Chapter 2 - New Life

After being here for a little over two weeks and not being able to do anything but listen in on conversations, it wasn't hard to get some information.
First, there's my mother, Faliya Elway, then my father, Melvin Elway, and I also have an older sister, Myla Elway.
She wasn't there when I was born because she was sick. The doctor wasn't supposed to help with a baby delivery, originally he was supposed to heal my sister.
Maybe I shouldn't have moved around too much in that 'dark void' because I was born a little early.
Besides all that, there's myself. The once famous lone wolf soldier utterly reduced to a baby. My name is apparently Falyn Elway.
Over these past couple weeks I've stopped worrying about this whole reincarnation thing and accepted it. There was nothing I could really do besides cope, so I tried to think of it as a fresh start with new beginnings.
Instead, I've been putting all my brain power into trying to figure out where I am. The first theory I devised was that I was born in the past of my world when cars and electricity weren't invented yet…then I remembered the magic and scratched the whole idea without a second thought.
Hmm…so this is a whole new world.
I thought back to the past two weeks.
I've seen my mother and father use magic, and from what I could gather my mother uses wind to clean and get the dust out of hard to get places, my father uses water to clean dishes, and water the plants. I haven't seen anything too exciting, which was kind of disappointing.
When I watched them tidy the house and do their daily duties I was trying to break down this ‘magic’ but it only left me with more questions like everything else.
If there's wind and water magic are there other types?
I haven't seen anything really big, but every time they use magic I try to act happy and use my baby charms so they can show me more, but to no avail.
After daily cleaning, father and mother take my sister to the study room so she can learn. I usually tag along so my parents can watch me as they teach my sister. Right now she's learning the normal stuff like reading, writing, and math. It seems in this world you start to learn the language and math at the age of three.

My sister's four, so she can hold a conversation with my parents pretty well. I haven't seen my sister use magic, though, so just assumed it was an age thing.
Every four days my sister and mother would go to the town market to get groceries and things for the house, and today was one of those days.
The village where my new family and I live is known as Beck Town. The town market was about a thirteen-minute walk from our house. On these walks, my mother would carry me in a cradle-like sash in a position where I could see the green fields. It hadn't rained since the day I was born so I was able to see the view clearly. In the distance the green fields were met with the forest that elevated up and covered the mountains; the trees were large even from a distance.
It was beautiful, peaceful in a way.
In my old world, my country didn't have mountains, nor did the ones I 'visited' for my missions. So for me, It was a sight to behold.
During the time that we walked, I would see the view, but I would also pass by the rundown barn I was born in. I learned the carriage we rode that day wasn't ours, it was actually the doctors.
I didn't care for the carriage because I grew fond of these walks, even though I wasn't doing the walking.
As I pondered this, I found myself worried about my new family's living situation. Then I noticed how my mother and sister always wore smiles on their faces with at least five silver coins to go with.
From my assessment, the money works as follows.
100 copper = 1 iron
100 iron = 1 silver
Silver coins were the highest amount of currency I've seen in this small town, and I've only seen them on my mother.
Food and house needs were only fifty copper coins at most. At this, I soon threw away the sad thoughts.
Beck Town is nothing like the small towns and cities in my old world, from the three times I went out so far I would see people carrying weapons in all shapes and sizes like it was normal. There were food stands with vegetables and fruits, some were selling weapons or liquor. I even saw a kid that couldn't be older than twelve buy a bottle of what looked like whiskey.

Is there no age restriction?
From today and my past visits to the main part of Beck Town, I noticed it heavily relied on magic for almost everything. This world is reliant on magic as their prime source of energy unlike my old world, where we used electricity. This seemed to have set the people of this world back advancement wise.
One day, when we got home from the village market my mother put me in my wood-made crib and started feeding me as my father cooked dinner.
The baby food was horrible.
I hated it. For these past two weeks, I had it for every meal and bore through it.
Calm yourself. It's only temporary, Falyn. You just need to calm down and push through.
I tried telling myself that, just to contradict myself on the next bite, but before my mother could put another bite in my mouth, my sister Myla walked in.
"Hi Falyn," she said, looking at me with a smile, then turned to my mother with puppy dog eyes.
My mother looked confused "Is there something you need Myla dear? I'm feeding your brother right now, dinner should be ready in a seco-"
My sister interrupted her before she could finish, "Mom, please teach me magic!" She said this with her eyes closed and her hands fixed like she was praying.
My mother looked at her and chuckled.
I was thankful to Myla for saving me from the baby food, but also curious at what my mother's answer would be.
My sister spoke again, this time she got out of the silly prayer pose and released her puppy dog eyes once more, in full force, "I know the last time I asked, you and dad said something about an awakening, but can't you awaken me now?"
"I can't awaken you dear, it has to happen naturally." My mother put down my feeding food and gestured for Myla to come towards her. "Here, let me explain it to you again."
My mother took a deep breath, then started, "Once you turn nine you will awaken what is called a mana core. A mana core is the source in our bodies that allows us to use magic. This is the explanation your father gave you last time, but I'm going to tell you more now, so make sure to keep up because this is the last time me or your father will explain it. Okay, Myla?"
"Yes, mom." Myla said excitedly.
"The process of creating this core is a long one and it takes patience. As you get older you will learn about and see more magic. As this happens, you will start to comprehend and understand how magic works. You see Myla, there's this energy all around us that helps us use magic. That energy is called mana. When you awaken, your body will go through changes, one of these changes is the ability to feel the mana energy flow throughout your body and soul."
Throughout this explanation my mother sent small gusts of wind toward my sister, filling the room with a cool breeze.
"You used a lot of big words mom, but I think I understand." Myla said, slightly puzzled.
I was surprised she understood even a little of the explanation. She was only four after all.
On the other hand, her explanation helped me tremendously. Mana is the base energy for this world and the foundation of magic, alongside the mana core. The awakening part she mentioned makes sense on why I haven't seen Myla use magic. But just like all the other answers I've gotten so far, they only left more questions.
Since I have the mental age of twenty-five I should be able to awaken early right? If so, how early?
I guess I'll just have to bide my time to get all the answers. Meanwhile, I should focus on trying to control and get used to my body.
"Honey, Myla, dinners ready." The sound of my father's voice pulled me out of my thoughts.
my mother picked me up, carrying me to the kitchen. Following after the smiling Myla.

8 121Gaston (Disney)
Gosh, its awesome to see him (Gaston). He’s never down in the dumps! Every guy here'd love to be him (Gaston) even when taking his lumps. There's no man in town as admired as him, he's everyone's favorite guy! Everyone's awed and inspired by him and it's not very hard to see why: No one's slick as Gaston. No one's quick as Gaston. No one's neck's as incredibly thick as Gaston For there's no man in town half as manly! (perfect, a pure paragon) Ask any Tom, Dick or Stanley, and they'll tell you whose team they prefer to be on! Who plays darts like Gaston? Who breaks hearts like Gaston? Who’s much more than the sum of his parts like Gaston? As a specimen, yes, he’s intimidating; my, what a guy, that Gaston! He doesn’t need encouragement, you boneheaded fools. The only ones who need encouragement is you! (Was that too much? I say no.) No one fights like Gaston, douses lights like Gaston. In a wrestling match nobody bites like Gaston! When he hunts, he sneaks up with his quiver – beasts of the field say a prayer! First he carefully aims for the liver… then he shoots from behind! Is that fair? He doesn’t care. No one hits like Gaston, matches wits like Gaston. In a spitting match nobody spits like Gaston. (He’s especially good at expectorating!) Ten points for Gaston! When he was a lad he ate four dozen eggs every morning to help him get large. And now that he’s grown he eats five dozen eggs, so he’s roughly the size of a barge! Who has brains? Entertains? Who can make up these endless refrains like Gaston? (He uses antlers in all of his decorating!) Say it again: Who’s a man amongst men? Who’s a super success? Don’t you know? Can’t you guess? Ask his fans and his end(less) hangers-on! There’s just one guy in town who’s got all of it down! And his name’s G-A-S-T-O-N GASTON!
8 112A Primeval Future
Follow the story of a modern caveman as he learns to survive, thrive, and shape his nascent civilization in a world yet untouched by man. Expect a focus on the nitty-gritty of primitive living, especially early on. I plan for this to eventually progressing to the settlement management and politics stage as people gravitate towards the one guy who looks like he knows what he's doing, but this will likely take some time. Despite the occasional system elements, skilling and levels will not be a part of this story. No shortcuts. There will be violence and there will be sexuality but there will be no sexual violence. I hate reading that crap and I hate writing it even more. This is my first serious foray into writing. I plan to put out at least 1 chapter a week, more when I can. Constructive criticism is very much welcomed as are ideas and suggestions! Cover image credit: "Mesolithic camp site" by Wessex Archaeology is licensed with CC BY-NC 2.0. 8 100The Electric Messiah
Volume Two of the Ontogeny series. A time of unprecedented crisis has come. During a mission to the edge of the known world, Brigadier Weyland James discovered that humanity faces a threat so terrible that the sane mind can barely conceive it. Failure to meet this threat would mean the end of human civilisation, mankind thrown back to a life of wandering savagery, easy prey for the true masters of the planet who see humans as mere animals, theirs to use and exploit as they see fit.Hope exists, if all mankind can unite, putting aside their petty differences for the greater good, but the truth is so unbelievable that the Brigadier faces an almost impossible task in convincing the leaders of the human world. His task is made even harder by the fact that several governments have been infiltrated by agents of the enemy, who are using their influence to sow seeds of war and chaos. The Brigadier is not mankind's only hope, though. In Helberion, a small group of scientists, struggling to make a major scientific breakthrough, is being hampered by assassination and sabotage. Is this the work of the enemy of mankind? King Leothan hopes it is, because it would mean that the enemy fears this new science, that it could be used to create a powerful weapon against them. A weapon that could be the Saviour of Mankind. The Electric Messiah... This is the sequel to Ontogeny. If you haven't read that book yet you must read it before you read this book.

8 148The Thing About Apholie: A Wolfwalkers Fanfiction
14 year-old Abigail Rosmere is afraid. Afraid of the wild. Which would make being friends with Apholie Lilliput, a wild girl from the nearby woods, sound very ironic. She's the only wild thing Abigail isn't afraid of. But when Apholie accidentally turns her into her species, far unlike any human, Abigail's world is turned upside down. And when Apholie is in danger, will Abigail run and save herself or stay and fight to protect the only thing she has left to call her own? (This is my first story on Wattpad and it is inspired by Wolfwalkers. I do not own the movie, it's characters, plot or any part of it at all. Credit goes to the original creators, Cartoon Saloon. I do own this sh*tty fanfic however, lol)*WATCH WOLFWALKERS FIRST BEFORE READING THIS FANFIC, IT WILL MAKE MORE SENSE, JUST TRUST ME!!!!*Additional stuff, (lol):Updates will most likely be very slow, mainly either due to school or lack of motivation. Also, I do not take requests. I do, however, take constructive criticism. My writing will most likely get better with the more books I compose, cus honestly I'm not too proud of this, but I'm too lazy to change it so I'm sticking with it. This was made with no planning whatsoever, so be prepared for some parts that may not make any sense. Lack of self confidence aside, I do hope you enjoy!(Thx for the 107 views, by the way!)
