"Abe! Where did you put my bag?" I yell out from my study. I can't seem to find it.

"It's up here. You left it up here last night." I sigh and walk back up stairs to the antique shop.

I smile as I see Abe reading the newspaper. I walk to him and kiss his forehead. I've spend the last seventy to eighty years watching him grow up. I have to admit, it sort of hurts that he doesn't call me dad anymore. I don't blame him though.

This curse of being immortal, means I don't age, it would be weird for other people to hear him call me dad when he's in his seventies and I look only thirty-five.

"You're in a good mood today Henry." I turn to him and smile before turning back.

"Would this have anything to do with a certain girl?" I chuckle and shake my head.

"Is that all you think about Abe?" Abe just smiles innocently at me.

Before I can take a sip of my morning tea, the phone rings. Looking at my watch I smile. It's around nine am, which is the average time of a body being found and detective Jo calling me.

"Good morning detective." I call down the phone.

"Henry, there's a body that's shown up. We need you to come in." I smile at the sound of her beautiful voice.

"I'm on my way." I say down the phone before hanging up.

"Abe, could you drive me to the precinct?" Abe nods his head and gets his keys.

I haven't driven a care in thirty-six years and I don't plan on driving any time soon. Not because I don't know how to or because I'm afraid to but because I enjoy being able to focus purely on thoughts and my surroundings rather than needing to look behind me, press down on the foot petal, keep track of speed and fuel and all the rest.

"Dr Morgan, the body has arrived." I turn to see my young colleague, Lucas.

"Ah thank you." I look down at the body.

A middle aged man, fare skin with a foam residue along his lips and in his mouth. Asphyxiation, but that isn't what killed him. There's a small entry behind the ear, for a needle.

"This man was murdered." I conclude.

"I knew you'd say that." Detective Jo's voice rings in my ear.

I stand up straight again and see her standing there. Detective Jo Martinez. Her beautiful brunette hair, more lush and gorgeous than that of my first wife Nora.

"Yes, well that's what I usually conclude in these circumstances." Jo smiles softly and shakes her head.

"We got a name. Michael Sandorman. His wife is waiting downstairs." I nod my head and let her go to speak to the wife of our victim.

Once Jo is finished, we go to the crime scene, the mans bedroom. I walk in, looking around for any sign of what happened here.

His bedroom is set pretty close to his bathroom. The window is open, no sign of it being broken tho.

"There was another person in here. See the way the pillow on the side next to our victim is creased." I say walking to the bed.

"What about it?" Jo asks.

"Someone had been laying here. Probably the same person who poisoned the man and jabbed a needle behind his ear." Detective Jo nods her head.

"But the wife was out of town. She only got home this morning." Jo comments.

I bend down near the bed, wafting in the smell on the pillow. I smile and stand back up.

"Yes well, our victim was having an affair." Jo rolls her eyes.

"How can you get all of that from his bed?" I smile.

"The pillow. The smell, it has a scented shampoo smell on it. Our victims hair had not been washed in about two days prior to death so there was no smell so it couldn't be his and the fragrance is that of a woman's shampoo. Furthermore, if his wife was out of town, then it could not have been her. Coming to the conclusion of an affair." Jo shakes her head as I smile triumphantly.

"So, we need to find out who this woman is." Detective Jo says as we walk out of the apartment.

As we walk out, a woman is walking our way, when she sees us she freaks and runs away. Detective Joe and I run immediately after her.

The girl turns around with a gun in her hands. She's about to fire at Jo, I can't let her die. Not another person I love, die because of me. I step in front of her just in time.

"Henry!" Jo yelps out frantically.

"I'll be okay." I croak out of my dying corpse.

"No you won't be." Jo says frantically.

I smile and take her hand in mine. I can see tears in her eyes. I smile and shakily place my hand up to her cheek.

"I'll see you when morning comes, I promise." With that, I close my eyes and let my last breath escape me.

I gasp for air in the ocean. Swimming to the side, Abe is there with some clothes and a look of dread.

"Joe came over last night, talking about how she saw you die but then you vanished. There's no getting out of this with a lie." I sigh and nod my head.

"I know. When we get home call her, tell her to come over." Abe nods his was and starts the car.

I can hear Abe on the phone to Jo as I cry myself and dress in my usual clothes. Soon Abe is walking down to my study.

"She'll be here in five minutes." I nod my head.

"Bring her down when she gets here." I say.

Abe nods and walks back up the stairs. I walk to my bathroom again and grab my cologne. Just as I walk out, Jo walks down the last step. Her eyes haven't caught site of me yet.

"Jo..." I start.

Her head snaps in my direction and she gasps. Her eyes tearing up as she walks to me. She pushes me and whacks my chest slightly as she sobs.

"What the hell Henry! I thought you were dead." She croaks out.

I take hold of her hands and stop her from bashing me further.

"I know, I'm sorry. In all truthfulness, I was technically dead." I say.

"I saw you die, then you vanished." She says in almost a whisper.

"I know, there are a few things you don't know." I start.

"Like what? You come back to life?" I shuffle slightly on my feet.

"I'm immortal. I'm two hundred years old Jo." She shakes her head and shits down on my couch.

"I don't understand." She mutters.

I sigh and sit next to her. I take her hand in mine and squeeze it softly.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I look at her and shake my head.

"It's not the most believable story is it?" I ask rhetorically.

"I would have believed you." I look at her shocked. She can't honestly think that.

"What would make you believe me if not for seeing me die in front of you?" I ask.

"Because I trust you Henry, your never lead me wrong before, and I know we haven't been partners for long but trust goes a long way." She says looking into my eyes.

"I trust you too Jo." I say sincerely.

I watch as her eyes search mine for reassurance. It's now that I realise how close our proximity is on this now seemingly small couch. I can't help my eyes to wonder to her beautiful lips.

I gulp as I watch her do the same with her eyes. Her body leaning into mine a little more, until her forehead is pressed on mine. Our breath is heavy and our hearts are beating rapidly.

"Jo I..." I can't seem to form the words I want to say.

I place my hand on her cheek, caressing it softly. Our lips almost touching, so close but so agonisingly far away.

I gulp once more and build up my courage, finally putting us out of our misery and pressing my lips against her, just a small kiss, I pull my lips from hers to see her reaction.

Not even a whole second later, she pulls my lips to hers again. My eyes close as does hers as her hands grip my vest and my immortal heart beats so fast and hard it feels like it's going to explode.

We pull away slowly. Her lips red and plump from kissing. I smile as she bites her lip softly.

"Do you know why I trust you so much?" She asks in a whisper.

"Why?" I ask just as softly.

"Because I love you Henry." I smile and press my lips softly against hers once more.
