《(Discontinued) Unexpected (BoTW Link x reader)》Chapter 3

(Your POV)
Hearing Link invite you to join his adventure made you more excited than words could even begin to explain. You had always wanted to explore Hyrule; to see what it had to offer. You had heard many astonishing stories of the world outside Hateno village, but had never seen the wonders yourself. Now that you had a skilled swordsman (or so he claims), on your side, you could finally begin your journey.
"So... uh... got everything ready?" Link asked.
"One more thing. I don't know where it went..." You replied as you searched under a pile of clothing. "Aha! The sword passed down from generation to generation in my family. I've never got to use it, but it's supposedly very powerful!" You beamed, admiring the sword in your hands.
"It definitely looks like it could do some damage. Do you know how to use a sword?" Link asked, admiring the sword as well.
"Well, no... But you could teach me! Right? I'm a quick learner." you said with a big grin.
Link bit his lip in thought, his blue eyes bouncing up and down the sword.
"Perhaps. In return, though, can you demonstrate how to properly use a bow?"
"You don't know how?"
"Well, no, I didn't even know how to use a sword about three weeks ago, to be completely honest. I just swung it around and hoped it hit something."
You laughed at this.
"Yeah, it seems like a fair trade. You teach me to use a sword, I'll teach you to use a bow. Deal?" You stuck your hand out, waiting for a response.
Link grabbed your hand and gave it a little shake.
"Deal."
Link gave you some time to say goodbye to your friends while he packed his bags.

"You're leaving?! For how long??"
"I'm not sure. I'll be back though, don't worry." You gave a reassuring smile to your friend who was obviously worried.
"You don't even know this guy! What if he's kidnapping you?"
"Veronica. You're being outrageous," you replied. When you thought about it, though, you literally had met this boy yesterday. He had barged into your house uninvited, and immediately asked for something. It was a bit strange, but you trusted him nontheless.
"Ugh, you're always too quick to trust people!" she sighed, putting a hand on your shoulder. "But... if that's what you want, I'll support it. Just lemme know of he gets weird, I'll handle him," she said with a quick wink.
"Excuse me, I do believe I am capable to take care of a 4 foot something twink. I can do it myself." You both erupted in laughter at your stupid humor.
"Ooh boy," Veronica said, wiping a tear from her eye. "Let's hope Link can keep up with your cocky nature."
I blew a raspberry at her before hugging her in farewell.
Link was waiting by his horse, lazily messing with some stone tablet.
"Whatchya got there, Link?" you asked, peeking over his shoulder.
"Oh, this? This is the Sheika Slate I mentioned earlier. It's pretty handy."
You stared in awe, you had never seen technology like this. Examining it closer, it has the same design as the guardians do. You poked the slate which caused it to place a star on what you assumed to be the map.
"What's there?" Link asked.
"I don't know, I just wanted to poke it."
"Fair enough. Anyway, let's get going. Do you have a horse?"
"No, sadly. I had one before, but-"

"Save me your life story for later. Let's just get on the rode."
You slightly gasped at his rudeness, then playfully stuck up your nose, turning from him.
"Awe, come on, I'm just playing!" He said, gently punching your arm. You both chuckled before deciding to finally get going.
(Link's POV)
(Y/n) felt very warm as she held onto you from the back of the horse. Poor Epona, she had to carry two people, plus luggage. Because of this, you kept her at a simple and slow pace. You'd get to your destination much slower, but it'd be better for Epona.
"So, where exactly are we going?" (Y/n) asked, her voice slightly muffled.
"Gerudo town. I have to reclaim the Devine beast."
"Ha! Impossible. Even for you, sir Lynel killer. That Devine beast is impossible to even get close to. Why do you want to, anyways?"
"Well, some lady named Impa said Zelda wanted me to."
"What, Zelda? Funny, but she's dead. Has been for the past 100 or so years."
You stopped the horse and turned around. Would even trying to explain your situation be worth it?
"She's in the castle, keeping calamity ganon locked up. Not dead," you said a little bit too coldly. "Anyway, the Devine Beasts are supposed to help me when fighting Ganon. I think they shoot lasers or something."
(Y/n) opened her mouth to say something, but then decided against it and just simply nodded. You faced forward once more and urged Epona to start walking once again.
"So, what happened with your horse?" You asked, trying to avoid silence.
"Oh, yes. His name was Bubba, a black and white horse. Beautiful. Very fast. I was taking him on a ride once when a group of bokoblins attacked. They were obviously trying to hit me, but smacked Bubba instead. They did this repeatedly while trying to reach me, and I just barley got him back to the village before he collapsed. He's still alive, but I gave him to a friend in Kakiriko village. She's good with horses, he has a great life there."
"I see. We should visit him soon, don't you think?"
"Really?? That would be great! I miss him a great deal," she stated, the excitement clear in her voice.
"You're very easy to please, aren't you?" you joked.
"Not with all things," she said attempting some humor, but was then filled with red. "I didn't mean that like that."
You laughed, a little bit of blood rushing to your face as well.
