《The First Champion | BOTW Link x GN!Reader》Lady Riju

The sun slowly rises above the bare lands. You see in the distance a stirring in the sand. Tremendous clouds of dust whirl in the air. You hear a distant stomping and look towards the distant sandstorm.
In the middle of the storm is the Divine Beast stomping in the sand. It resembles a camel and lets out a low rumbled roar. This is Naboris, once piloted by Urbosa of the Gerudo.
You break your gaze of the beast and walk up to the gates with Link as you hold your breath. The Gerudo women eye you suspiciously, but you and Link walk through without question. You let out your breath thankfully.
The place was very beautiful. Shops and stands stood open with exotic fruits, meat, and all kinds of arrows that interested you greatly. You look to your left and see the same clothes on display as the ones you and Link were wearing.
Link starts walking up to the palace in front of the entrance.
"Wait," you stop him, "don't you want to look around first?" Link thinks for a second and then nods. You smile and wonder around the sandstone city with him by your side. You find a staircase that leads up to a bar. You walk up to the Gerudo who is cleaning a glass with a rag.
"Sav'otta." She greets. "How can I help you vai today?"
"What can we buy here?" You ask.
"This is the Noble Canteen. I do not know for certain, but you two look too young to be in a place like this." She says. You frown.
'But I am over a hundred years old. Shouldn't I be let in a bar?' you think to yourself.
You look around and see a poster with some sort of recipe on it. You examine the drawings and see that it says how to make Chilly Mushroom Risotto. While you are starring, you overhear a conversation between three Gerudo Women.
"The secret club... what was that password again?" You hear someone whisper. A password?
"GSC and a diamond." One whispers. Then you hear someone hit someone's arm.
"Haven't I told you not to talk about this in public?"
You turn to Link and tilt your head to motion towards the Gerudo women. He gives you a look saying 'I heard'. You nod and then walk out of the bar.
"That was helpful." You say sarcastically. "We should be allowed in a bar." You say frustrated.
You and Link walk through the town and admire the exotic fruits. You end up buying a hearty durian.
You walk down the other part of the town with alleyways and bare walls. You come across a sealed door and your curiosity lead you to it. You knock on the door and then hear a voice.
"Password?" The voice says. You freeze. Is this is password the women were talking about? You will yourself to remember what the code was. "Well?" The voice says. "If you do not know, you best be off."
"GSC," you say.
"And what's after that?" The voice says.
You then try to remember the shape the Gerudo said. "A diamond," you say.
"You may enter," the voice says, and then the door swings open.
You walk into a dimly lit room where a woman stood at a counter. Two sets of armor stand at either side of the room. One is made of gold and red fabric. The other is black and mysteriously glowing a skeletal pattern.

"What is this place?" You ask the woman.
"Gerudo Secret Club," she says. "The only place in Gerudo where clothes for voe are sold. Maybe your friend here would like to buy some clothes for himself." You and Link both jump in shock. "Don't worry, I won't tell." You let out a sigh of relief.
You walk over to the glowing set and admire the eerie blue glow.
"What is this one made of?" You ask.
"Luminous Stone." She says. "If you wish to buy it, I need ten pieces from you so I can make it." You look at the mask. 'This is genius', you think.
"How much for this one?" Link asks, pointing to the golden clothes.
"That is the Desert Voe set. It has heat resistance that will let you stand the heat of the desert. It costs 2,400 rupees," she says. Link raises his eyebrows.
"Can you buy from me?" He asks.
"What are you selling?" She nods. Link sets down some rubies, topaz, opals, monster parts, and bugs. "Hmm... How about 2,000 rupees for all of this?" She suggests. Link looks through his pockets again. You step up and set down a some materials you could afford to spare. Link looks up and gives you a thankful smile. "Okay... 2,500 then." Link nods and then the women takes the items and sets down a bag of rupees.
Link takes out two purple rupees and hands the bag back to her. She takes the bag and gives him a set of the Desert Voe clothing. He takes it, thanks her, and then goes to try it on in the back. You patiently wait for him.
A few minutes pass until you hear the heavy thud of the golden boots. You turn around and see Link walking into the dim light with the new clothes. You gaze at the design and admired how he put his hair up differently. You desperately try to avoid letting Link see you stare.
"Ah, the set looks quite good on you," the Gerudo woman admires. Link tugs at the choker around his neck. "Just don't wear these outside of the club. They will kick you out, knowing there is a voe in their town." He nods and goes to change again.
When he has vanished from sight, the Gerudo woman motions for you to talk to her. You walk over to the counter. She motions for you to come closer. You lean in, a little suspicious.
"I've always dreamed of being in love and finding a voe for me. What is it like?" she whispers. You jump back at the question and seriously blush.
"Oh, we're-- we're not to-together." You stutter, causing her to chuckle.
"The way you look at him tells me otherwise." She then gives you a quick wink. "He seems like a nice guy." You clear your throat and feel the room getting a little hot. Link walks out of the changing room and saves you from the awkward conversation. "Well, have a good day, you two. Come again anytime."
You thank her and walk out with Link by your side. You wander around the town a little more and then think there is nothing more to see. You take a deep breath and walk up the steps toward the small palace. You walked into the throne room and saw two statues of Gerudo solders guarding the carpet leading to the throne.
You stoped in your tracks and were met by the Gerudo Chief. She looked too young to be having the role as ruler. You estimated her age around twelve years old. A tall guard stood by her with a stern look on her unfriendly face.

"Yet another traveler." The Chief spoke up. You admired her golden clothing and wondered how she is balancing the headpiece made of gold on her head. Her makeup brought out the green in her eyes. She is very pretty. "How did you get in here?" She then notices Link behind you and eyes his Sheikah Slate. "Oh. It seems you have something rather interesting there."
You and Link walk closer to the throne. You almost make it to the stairs, until the guard speaks up.
"You stand before Lady Riju, chief of the Gerudo! Declare your business, but come no closer!" The guard slams her large sword's blade on the stone. You jump at the sign of aggression.
"Hold on, Buliara..." Lady Riju says. "These two appear to be more than just common travelers. You there-- what are your names?" You paused and debated whether or not to say your real names since you were both in disguise.
"I am (Y/N) and this is Link." You choose to say.
"(Y/N) and Link... And what is it you've come all the way here to tell me, (Y/N)?" She asks calmly.
"We can calm Naboris." You say.
"You think you have what it takes to subdue something as powerful as a Divine Beast?" The guard huffs. "The only ones who could ever control them were the Champions like Lady Urbosa. And all of the Champions died in the Calamity 100 years ago."
"Hmm... Buliara, a memory just jumped in my head-- something my mother spoke of." Lady Riju says. "When the Calamity happened, the princess of Hyrule places two fallen knights into a deep sleep. Those knights, much like our new friend here, were named General (Y/N) and Link... though it always seemed more legend than fact."
"But Lady Riju! Do those same stories not also say that the Hylian Champion carried a legendary sword? I see no such weapon in this person's care." Buliara says.
"They do indeed. If I recall correctly, it was called the sword that seals the darkness. The Princess of Hyrule supposedly hid it away in a forest somewhere." Riju mutters. "What of the device on one's hip? It appears to be a precious relic of the Sheikah." Riju turns to Buliara. "I can't imagine they would give something so valuable to a simple drifter-- can you?"
"...I do not remember ever hearing of a Hylian vai among the Champions." Buliara thinks for a moment and then straightens up. "Wait a moment... You're a voe!" She shouts. Link slightly backs up.
"A voe within our walls is a great crime. But a voe who is a Champion... Well, we'd never mistreat a friend of Lady Urbosa. And if you're here to help us with Naboris, we are allies." Riju clears her throat. "You saw it on your way to our town. Divine Beast Vah Naboris, cloaked in a massive sandstorm, hurtling lightning at anyone who dare to approach. We have to do something to stop it, but we have yet to find a way to appease the Divine Beast on our own. If you two are truly Champions, perhaps you will be able to enter Naboris and calm it of its anger."
"Lady Riju! I do not see how you can trust complete strangers with something as important as this task." Buliara speaks up. "Perhaps if these two people were first to prove their worth by recovering your stolen Thunder Helm."
"Ah yes, what an interesting suggestion." Riju says and leans back. "You see, there is only one thing in Hyrule that can withstand the lightning from Naboris. The Thunder Helm, a family heirloom and relic of the Gerudo. But as Buliara says, it was stolen from us."
"Not to worry, Lady Riju. If they truly are Champions, this should be an easy task for them." Buliara says, slightly smirking. "Our soldiers can tell you all you need to know about the thieves who stole Lady Riju's heirloom. Head through this arch." She motions towards a doorway towards a courtyard. "It will lead you towards the barracks. Then, seek out Captian Teake, and ask for a full report."
"Without my heirloom, you'll never be able to approach Naboris." Riju sighs. "Heh, you know... I take heart in having such rare visitors as yourselves. Lady Urbosa must be looking out for us." She smiles warmly. You return the smile and walk towards the arch with Link at your side.
You walk down some stairs and see a handful of Gerudo women practicing their handwork. You see one who stands out among the rest. She watches over the scene on a taller platform. You infer that this must be the captain. You walk up the stairs and face her. She is slightly paler than the other women, and her mouth is covered by a mask.
"What are you doing here?! This is the barracks for the chiefs guards, not a place for tourists to gather. We're on high alert after the recent theft, so you should clear out." Captian Teake commands.
"Buliara sent us to talk to you." You say.
"Hm? She sent you? My apologies! I am the officer in charge of the soldiers, Captian Teake. The chief's heirloom was stolen by thieves belonging to the Yiga Clan the other day, so everyone is on edge. We've determined that the Yiga Clan hideout is in Karusa Valley, but... The soldiers are exhausted, so I was just thinking of requesting some extra help." Teake turns and looks at the faces of the soldiers below them.
"Hey, everyone! Listen up!" She announces. "These Hylian vai have agreed to help us, so offer any information you can!" She turns back to you. "Consider yourself a part of our unit! If you have any questions, my troops will be happy to help." You nod and then make your way down the stairs.
You observe the target practice by some of the troops. Three stood in the middle of the room. You walked past and over heard their conversation.
"Hey, I haven't seen Barta. Where has she gone off to?" One woman asks the others.
"She said she was going to shout the thieves hideout, but then she left before we could say anything." The other answered. "Now that I think about it, she has been gone for two days... I wonder what could have happened to her."
"You--- Are you serious?!" One shouts. "Why did you let her go by herself? And why have you waited two days to report this?"
"I'm-- I apologize... She said she just wanted to check it out and that she would be careful, so I thought..."
"Uuuuugh. As if we aren't busy enough looking for the chief's heirloom, now we have to search for Barta too... If the captain hears about this fiasco, she'll punish us for sure! Probably 100 laps around Gerudo Desert, again."
"Oh no, what should we do?" Another Gerudo woman joins the conversation.
"I'm thinking about it!" She snaps.
You barely hear the conversation as you stare at the scimitar swords the guards wielded. You think that you have seen something like that before...
And then, you remember.
--~--
"You live up to your title," Lady Urbosa stated as she walked with (Y/N) around the walls of Gerudo town during early evening. "Gerudo has never felt stronger than it is today in your guidance."
"I give you my thanks," (Y/N) nodded to the chief with a smile that was slowly fading.
"Something is troubling you," Urbosa observed.
"It's nothing you have control of," (Y/N) waved her off.
"Lay it on me."
A small, side smile tugged at (Y/N)'s lips. "The calamity draws nearer every day, but I still fail to help the princess with her sealing power."
Urbosa watched a frown plaster on the young commander's face. "It's ridiculous," (Y/N) vented. "It's cruel irony. The princess of Hyrule has the bloodline of the goddess. The very goddess who's voice I've been able to hear since birth. But the sacred power seems to be so out of reach, like it's locked away."
"Not to mention," (Y/N) continued, "she is still having trouble in regards with her relationship with Link..." (Y/N)'s voice lowered in volume upon calling the chosen knight by his name instead of his title as expected. "If the two of them are to fulfill their prophecies, they need to accept each other."
"I can see why all of this is upsetting you," Urbosa sympathized. "You feel you aren't living up to your role as you should be. In a similar way, the princess is feeling that burden as well."
(Y/N) turned to the chief with interest.
"Every time she sees the sword of legend on her appointed knight's back, it reminds her of her own failures," Urbosa explained. "It is only natural that their relationship is complicated at the beginning. As of now, you and the princess are on separate treks around Hyrule with the same purpose to aid the champions of the four races. You shouldn't worry about their disagreement for long. Something tells me the journey they are taking is going to turn things around."
"Your words are assuring," (Y/N) said. "Thank you."
"You're carrying a lot of stress," Urbosa stated and rested her hand on the handle of her Scimitar of the Seven. "It's written all over your face."
"How could I not?"
"That is fair," Urbosa said and stopped in her tracks. "Though, you should lighten up and focus on the now. Focus on what you can control versus what you will control. Worrying about what hasn't happened yet and the inevitable just means you will suffer twice." The two made eye contact. "Never forget that."
(Y/N)'s gaze trailed down in thought. The wise Cheif just offered wisdom far greater than what was hoped to gain that day. The advice planted itself in (Y/N) with the intensions of staying for the rest of her life. Whether Urbosa knew it in that moment or not, she had just helped (Y/N) greatly.
"I won't," (Y/N) affirmed.
--~--
You snap out of your trance and rub your head. Link is looking at you with a concerned look.
"Karusa Valley... is that labeled on the map?" You ask Link. He takes out the Sheikah Slate and looks closely at Gerudo Canyons.
"Yes. It is northwest from the Bazzar." Link nods. You start walking out of the town.
"Let's just go now. I'd rather deal with these bastards now than later." You say.

House Candor, one of the six great houses that helped build the Eldoran Empire had been erased from history. With no home, no family, and only death waiting for him, Jayce decided to escape north to the uncharted Northern Territories to begin a new life. Forced into situations he was never prepared for and trying to cope with his past, Jayce tries to find safety in a place spoken about only in legends. There for the first time, he will make true friends and find people he will come to see as family. He will encounter strong enemies, build powerful alliances, and become a person his ancestors would be proud of. But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here
