《Breath of Life | LoZBoTW》The New Champions

After a couple of weeks, Castle Town was officially rebuilt and made safe to be inhabited. People were of course hesitant at first, seeing all the things that had previously happened at Hyrule Castle. Something always puts the townspeople in danger. Either way, all the Hylians who were now travelers and had no homes were coming back to their rightful places, despite everything. Emery wondered how the people could still trust in Zelda after everything that's happened. Though, it is true it wasn't Zelda's fault that Ganon was so powerful.
They traveled to the Sacred Grounds, where the ceremony for the new Champions would be held. Emery didn't know what to expect, but she wished more than anything she had parents to be proud of her. She would never have that, and it hurt so bad. She was alone in this world, with nothing to hold onto. Most days, she hardly even saw the point anymore. Still, she knew she had to continue on no matter how much she hurt. This finally made her understand Link, as she was silently baring her burdens too.
After all these weeks, she still hadn't said one word to him. She couldn't talk to him or look at him, it hurt too much. Zelda would go out to check on people often and request only Emery come with her so they could get out of that house. She was beginning to warm up to Zelda, despite knowing that she's in love with Link, which still hurt. Either way, she was beginning to become a good friend to Emery and vice versa.
Everyday, they would talk and take their time on their endeavors. Emery was feeling more and more that she should take a step towards forgiving Link. She was starting to understand how he felt and why he acts out the way he does sometimes. She couldn't say she hadn't done the same before. Not only to him, but to anyone. He meant the best at times, and she knew he only cared. It just hurt her so much, but maybe it wasn't even because of what he said. It was just because she couldn't stand to deal with the fact that she wasn't good enough for him.
They came upon the clearing, seeing all the people gathering around the Sacred Grounds. There were many, many people. All of which were different kinds. Ritos, Zoras, Gerudo people, Hylians, and Gorons. They left their horses on their own, knowing they wouldn't wander away. Zelda approached the grounds, standing in the middle of it. Emery and Link stood to the side with the others. Everyone got quiet as she stood there, they waited to listen to what she had to say.
"I thank you all for making the efforts to come all the way here. I know you're all hesitant of trusting me, your Princess of Hyrule, and I understand that. I just hope you can all see it in your hearts to forgive me for everything that's happened. I know our dear castle is in ruins, but I plan to fix it all. Just like I did Castle Town. Now, without further ado, I would like to recognize two very special people. These two saved the world, and if not for them, Calamity Ganon surely wouldn't've met his demise." She spoke. She looked over to Emery and Link, motioning for them to come forwards. "You all know Link, the hero chosen by the Gods to wield the sword that seals the darkness. This is Emery, also a hero chosen by the Gods to wield the bow that seals the darkness. They share the Triforce courage, which is evident in their battles. They were victorious in fighting Ganon, without them we would've lost our world as we know it."

Everyone began clapping and cheering. Emery and Link bowed before them all, showing their light-powered weapons. It was incredible to everyone else that these two had fought off something so terrifying and humongous. They would never be able to forget the names of the two heroes. They would never be able to forget how stunningly gorgeous the archer was, or how handsome the swordsman was.
"Link is a long time Champion like myself, so he already has a tunic. I'd like to present Emery with the armory of the hero chosen by the Gods that wields the bow of light. She deserves it, proving herself through endless efforts in battle and in protecting her people. Including Link and I." Zelda smiled brightly at her. The royal seamstress approached them, giving Emery a pile of clothes which she gladly took. They stepped to the side, and the four others stepped up. Emery wondered what the outfit looked like.
"This is Prince Sidon of the Zoras, who will be piloting the Divine Beast Vah Ruta after his late sister, the Champion Princess Mipha. I'd like to present him with the cloth of the Champion." Zelda said, and the seamstress gave him the signature blue cloth in the form of a sash.
The crowd clapped and he did his signature grin at them all. He looked over to Emery and winked, to which she gave him a small wave. Link gave him a look, telling him he had better cut it out.
"This is Chief Riju of the Gerudo, she will be taking after late Champion Chief Urbosa in piloting Divine Beast Vah Naboris. I'd like to present her with the cloth of the Champion." Zelda had to repeat the same for each. The seamstress gave her a cloth in the form of a skirt.
Riju bowed to the crowd as they cheered.
"This is Yunobo of the Gorons. He is the only descendant from Daruk, the late Champion, so it's only fitting that he pilots the Divine Beast Vah Rudania. I'd like to present him with the cloth of the Champion." She said, and the cloth was also a sash.
Yunobo waved at everyone as they cheered, then threw his fist us to the sky, just like Daruk.
"Lastly but not least, this is Teba of the Rito who is a great archer and flier, like the late Revali. He will pilot Divine Beast Vah Medoh. I'd also like to present him with the cloth of the Champion." She said, and he nodded to the crowd after getting his cloth. They all placed them on, but Emery couldn't yet change. That concluded the ceremony, and people began moving into Castle Town. It was a happy time, and Zelda finally felt like everything might be okay. Like she might be able to do this on her own. After the ceremony, the workers began working on the large castle.
Emery and Link followed Zelda silently into the castle. She ventured up to her room, trying to find any remains left. She found a bit of stuff, but not much was salvageable. She took her diary and her studies. Emery looked around the castle, as she had never been inside before. Link had, though.
"Emery," Zelda began, bringing her out of her thoughts. She turned towards her, giving her attention. "You should put on your armor. I want to see what it looks like on you. I designed it specifically for you, so I hope you like it."

"Sure, princess." Emery replied, stepping into the other room. She was use to changing in awkward places, that's what happened when you were a hero that traveled. It still felt weird to call herself a hero, but it was beginning to feel more official. Everything felt real. Still, she just wished she had motivation. She couldn't enjoy life when she constantly felt empty and incomplete.
She examined the outfit. It was stretchy material, easy to move around in. Still, it would protect her skin from harsh things. It was that signature blue color of all the Champions. She pulled off the armor she already wore. First, she pulled on the tight- but stretchy- pants. They were brown, like Zelda's. She hopped it didn't all look too much like Zelda's... After that, she put her head through the white blouse with the blue piece placed over it. The white blouse had a print on it and the collar sat on Emery's neck. The blue piece sat off her shoulders, and attached to the white blouse. The sleeves of the blue piece were fitted to her wrists so it would stay out of her way in battle. It all had golden accents to it, which had a bow printed on her chest which lead to the Triforce sitting below it. It was stunning, and it fit Emery perfectly. To top it all off, she placed the brown straps over her, one sitting on her hips, and another on her back to hold her bow.
Once she stepped out, both Zelda and Link got quiet. She looked over at their shocked expressions after placing her previous clothes away. Emery smiled with the corner of her mouth at them. She directed her attention to Link, who's mouth fell slightly agape. "Well, how do I look?"
He was hesitant before speaking, wondering if she was actually talk to him. He figured she was, since her emerald eyes were looking right into his big blue ones. "Incredible." He said breathlessly.
Emery blushed slightly, looking down at her bag in her hands. She slung it over her back. "Thank you."
"Of course." Link replied quietly.
"Do you like it?" Zelda asked her hopefully.
"I love it." Emery confirmed, giving her a strong smile. It was weird how much an outfit could change. Emery felt like a real Champion now.
"I didn't want it to look too much like mine, because it was for you. I made it similar though, to fit the theme. I'm glad you like it." She pulled Emery into a hug. At first she didn't know how to respond, but then she gladly returned it.
"Thank you for everything." Emery whispered. Zelda pulled away, giving her a small nod before leading them out of the room.
Emery and Link walked slowly, side by side as they followed after Zelda. She was walking slowly, reminiscing over the times she'd had in the castle over a hundred years ago. Even if Link and Zelda were technically still the same age as her, the whole thing irritated her to another level. This was like a different life for them both, and they lived a completely previous one without Emery. She felt as if she missed out.
"You really do look beautiful." Link broke the silence between them as Zelda scavenged for some books in the library. They sat on the other end of the room at a table. Still, they kept a good eye on her. Emery looked over at him.
"It's nothing like Zelda." She replied quietly.
"What do you mean?" He asked. It had been so long since she heard his voice, and she was beginning to feel the warmth he provided her all over again. She felt... butterflies. They flew around in stomach when his big blue eyes met hers, and when he spoke such nice words or just spoke in general.
"She's a Goddess. Why haven't you made a move on her yet?" Emery looked back at him after looking at Zelda. She was unaware of their conversation at the moment.
"Me?" Link's eyebrows knitted together in confusion.
"Yes, you. It's obvious you two shared love." She replied
"We never shared love that I can remember. I told you I never had feelings for her, Emery." Link frowned slightly. Why did she think that? Was that why she wouldn't return feelings for him? She thought he was in love with the princess?
Hearing these words hurt Zelda, but she knew it was neither of their intentions. She had to continue on, because she still wished Link loved her. It was nothing she had done, and she was aware of that. He was Emery's and she was his, That was the way it was meant to be. The way it was always meant to be. She couldn't let her selfish desires get in the way of so much. The heroes, their love, and the fate of the world that rested in their hands. She had to ignore it like she's always done.
"Well, I suppose we must get back to Hateno Village. It's getting late." Zelda declared as she peered out to the world. The sun was beginning to set, just as she had said. They stopped their conversation abruptly and followed Zelda out of the castle she knew like the back of her hand. They mounted their mares and headed back to the home they'd come to know so well. It would take even longer for the castle to be back to the way it was before. Even then, it would never be the same. Only it'll no longer be in ruins.
What was left for them now? The evil of the world is gone, although Princess Zelda still needed protection at all times. After the castle is rebuilt, she will be declared the Queen of Hyrule. What was in store for them after the castle is rebuilt? And between now and then?

A Virtual Invasion
An invasion from another dimension is shut down by an Empire's traitor and the world has a scant few decades to build the strength to resist a multidimensional Empire. How will the world fair when no one even knows its doom is one barred gate away? Fortunately, the traitor has a plan. Maybe with a bit of luck and planning, he can build a force to defend the world without anyone realizing it. Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
