《Breath of Life | LoZBoTW》Low

When Emery and Zelda awoke the next morning, Link was no where to be found. This frightened them at first, but they found a note from him.
Zelda, I'm safe. Have Emery accompany you along the way to Rito Village.
"Where would he have gone?" Emery asked, automatically worried. Was he going to come back? Of course she was upset with him after everything, but she would drop it all now if it meant he would come back. She feared he was leaving them forever, but at the same time she knew he couldn't possibly do that. It wasn't in his nature to abandon the princess.
"I have a feeling I know, but you mustn't be worried. This is a task he must perform. Besides, this gives us time to go perform our final tasks having to do with the Champions. I know I'll feel much better after I recruit the final Champion, and give them their closure. It'll be a weight off my shoulders, that's for sure." Zelda assured her. They hurriedly changed into their daily clothes, knowing what long travels awaited them. The Tabantha Region was completely opposite of Hateno Village.
They got on their horses and rushed in the direction, following safe paths. The Bokoblins and Moblins were extremely less frequent than Emery had ever known. Before when traveling, you'd come across them at every corner. Now, she hardly saw one. It was beginning to become a rarity, and Emery wasn't about to complain about it, either.
It was in the midst of the afternoon when they arrived at Rito Village. It was cold, but nothing neither Zelda nor Emery couldn't handle. They traveled up the many steps to greet the Rito Elder. Once again, many people marveled over the miraculous appearance of Princess Zelda. It was truly incredible that she was still alive and still freshly eighteen, but Emery was getting tired of it all. She was still so exhausted after the fight with Ganon, and she hadn't had a moment to rest. It's all been filled with Link's harshness, Zelda's perfectness, and tasks at every corner. She just needed away from it all soon...
They found the Rito Elder, who was also speaking to Teba. His leg seemed to be better, but not healed yet. He was just the other person they wanted to see, anyways. Emery was glad he was already here so they didn't have to travel the steps again to find him. That was also extremely tiring. He nodded to Zelda, whom he'd scarcely met before.
"Oh, great Rito Elder, Kaneli. I want to give you my condolences about your lost one, Revali. He died fighting for these people and the kingdom of Hyrule. He was a brave and courageous warrior. I feel terrible about the way he met his demise." Zelda bowed her head to them. Emery stood back, continuing to be silent. That was all she ever did. She was beginning to go insane... Not speaking to Link had really taken a toll on her. Still, she couldn't bare the thought of it. He'd hurt her terribly.

"We thank you for saving the world, princess. Your incredible powers saved us all from being annihilated by Calamity Ganon." He spoke.
"I would like Teba to take the place of Revali and pilot the Divine Beast Vah Medoh." Zelda stated.
"Me?" Teba questioned, limping over from his place looking over the village.
"Yes. Your efforts in helping Emery and Link tame Medoh didn't go unnoticed. They were courageous and show that you deserve the roll." She nodded.
"It was what was right." He shrugged.
"I wouldn't want to make you pilot the Divine Beast, but it would be perfect if you did. You're the best Rito for the job." She insisted. He nodded.
"I suppose I can. I just hope I really am the right Rito for it, like you say." He wasn't very convinced.
"Of course you are, Teba. Let yourself believe it." She smiled.
"Thank you, princess. I won't let you down." He declared. She thanked them and then the two girls walked away. Once they exited the village, they went slowly down the path on their horses.
"Why do you think so lowly of yourself?" Zelda asked Emery after a long period of silence.
"I could ask you the same thing." She replied.
"Yeah, but I asked you first." She chuckled lightly.
"Well, it's hard to think highly of yourself when the boy you're in love with is in love with a girl who's an actual reincarnation of the Goddess Hylia." Emery accidentally blurted out. Her eyes widened at herself. "I'm sorry, forget I said that."
"Oh, it's okay. I already knew." She shrugged.
"I'm sorry." Emery repeated.
"Don't be, you can't help your feelings. I just wish you knew you had no reason to be jealous of me..." She sighed.
"You're the one who confessed you were in love with Link." Emery stated. She was beginning to know the real Zelda, not Princess Zelda. That meant she could say anything to her without any fear.
"Yes, I was. It's been a hundred years and Link was resurrected. He's not the same Link I knew, and besides he doesn't belong with me." She said.
"What do you mean by that? Who's he meant to be with then?" Emery asked urgently, instantly feeling terrible. If it wasn't Zelda, who else did she have to worry about?
"You, Emery. He belongs with you. When the words of my ancestors said the two of you are one, it meant in more ways than just the shared Triforce." Zelda finally said.

"How can that be if he doesn't love me?" She retorted, letting out a huff. When Zelda didn't reply, she looked over. "Princess?"
"He's done it." She replied. "He's taken full control of the Master Sword, I can't hear it's voice anymore."
"That's what he went to do? How did he do it?"
"It's call the Master Trials. You have to complete many, many challenging trials in order to take on the Master Swords full power. He successfully did it." She explained.
"Well, that's good." Emery nodded, letting out a small sigh.
"I'm going to have the postman spread the word, we're having a ceremony as soon as possible. At the Sacred Grounds that are no longer ruins. Castle Town has almost completely been rebuilt. Once it is completed, all the Champions will be official. Including you." Zelda explained. Emery nodded. "Listen, Link didn't mean what he said. He's hot headed at times. He was upset at someone else, not you. I know he took it out on you and that's no excuse, but you know he's not good with feelings or words. You should give him a second chance. Especially since everyone else's lives depend on it."
"I can try, but right now I just can't..." Emery frowned.
"I understand, I'm just glad you'll try." Zelda replied. Emery nodded, and rushed her horse off down the path, with Zelda following suit. They needed to get home before nightfall, but they probably wouldn't.
Once they arrived home, Link was there. He sat on the couch, reading a book. The Master Sword shined brightly like never before as it leaned against the wall like always. Emery's eyes drifted away from it and to his. As they met, her heart sank. She quickly looked away and ran off to the bathroom, shutting the door quickly behind her. She climbed into the boiling shower and pulled her knees into her chest. She let the tears fall then, where no one could see. It was all beginning to become too much.
How are you meant to get over a boy who doesn't love you back? Especially when your feelings grow for them each and every day, despite what they've said and done? She didn't know how much longer she could take it, yet her duty was here with him. She knew she had to fix it somehow for the greater good, but how could she do that when every time she sees him her heart breaks more? They were stuck.
Link faced Zelda who was on her bed in the corner of the room. She looked at him over the Sheikah Slate. She was examining the photos she'd taken. "I tried to talk to her today for you."
"And?" His ears perked up.
"She said she was going to try and forgive you, but not right now. Either way, none of it sounded wholehearted." She explained. Link fell again, putting his head on his knees in defeat. "You have to do something, Link-"
"What am I suppose to do, Zelda? She hates me now, and I know it's all my fault. How am I suppose to fix words I cannot take back?" He exclaimed. She frowned.
"You just have to try, and I have a feeling she'll find it in her big, golden heart to forgive you. She has to, Link. She shares the Triforce with you, and you're both one. You have nothing to lose if you just try to fix this." She replied.
"I just want to give her space for a little while longer. Let me do that. I know she needs it." He pleaded.
"Well, Link, the truth is she's going insane without you." Zelda stated. His eyebrows knitted together in confusion.
"What do you mean?" He stood up, stepping towards her. Zelda was silent as Emery stepped out of the bathroom. Her sniffing wouldn't go unnoticed. Her hair still wasn't tied into a braid, which meant she still wasn't feeling any good about herself. When you don't put effort into anything, it shows how tired you are of absolutely everything. Her eyes were red and puffy. She laid down on the couch, pulling a woven cover over her and facing away from them.
Zelda looked to Link. He chewed his lip nervously as he walked over to Emery. "Are you-"
"Stop." She said forcefully, and he did instantly. In his words and his steps. He slumped as he walked upstairs, turning all the lights off along the way. They all went to sleep.
