Gloria's only to find the place completely empty with no trace of the white haired witch at all. The tables were bare, shelves were empty, and the signs were taken down. Gloria had cleared the place out completely.

Klaus growled beside me before turning around and marching out.

"Shit" I mumbled hurrying after him out of the place.

I reached the car just as he punched the back door leaving a nasty dent. He didn't yell surprisingly but I could tell he was fuming. Rebekah and Stefan were back at the unit so I was the only one who had to deal with him.

Getting on my toes a bit, I placed a hand on each of his shoulders, "Nik, calm down getting angry and destroying things won't fix or change anything."

He looked down at me, biting his bottom lip, still breathing angrily but slowly began to calm down. His eyes stopped darkening and his brows relaxed until he finally was calmer. It never ceased to surprise me when I'm able to calm him down, honestly.

Once we got back to the storage unit, Klaus marched in barely taking the key out of the ignition. I had to again chase after him and his stupid long legs.

Entering just in time, I heard Rebekah speak, "He was asking me about Mikael, he's not with us Nik"

From behind Klaus, I watched as my brother went wide eyed "Wait, Klaus—"

Before I could even utter a word, Klaus charged at him and snapped his neck.

I gasped as my brother fell to the floor, feeling tears coming on almost immediately, "Klaus, what the hell?! Why would you even—"

My neck was grabbed once again and I was pushed against a wall but that time it was by Rebekah.

I took in a strangled breath as her grip crushed my airway, "I bet she's in on it too, Nik"

The blonde Mikaelson sneered at me, baring her razor sharp fangs with bloodred eyes.

"N-N-N...o" I struggled to speak as my air was completely cut off and my skin began heating up.

Klaus walked over to us and watched me being strangled by his sister with narrowed eyes. The two siblings were looking at me like I was some sort of impostor while I had no idea what was actually going on.

My skin's temperature was rising quickly and luckily Rebekah wasn't used to the heat, so when my skin reached a couple hundred degrees, she cursed and dropped me onto the floor.

"BITCH!" She yelled slamming her foot hard into my ribs from my fetal position.

I yelled out but it sounding more like a roar as the feeling of heat began to rise in my gut again. I could feel my eyes burning as they changed colors and began to glow as the only blonde Mikaelson siblings looked down at me.

"Careful Bekah, this one's a spitfire" Klaus smirked, watching me cringing and sweating uncontrollably as smoke poured out of my nostrils.

In one swift motion, he pulled me up by my hair leading me to let out a strangled scream as I tried to keep the smoke from pouring out of my mouth.

The hybrid studied me with maniacal blue eyes, "You see, if you get her worked up enough, she breathes fire...it's quite amazing...too bad she's a bastard like her brothers"

Tears fell from my eyes as he wrenched my jaw open letting out all the smoke I had been trying to swallow before he broke it causing me to scream. My stomach burned terribly as flames emitted from my mouth and Klaus directed them exactly onto my brother's temporarily dead corpse. I was crying uncontrollably by then, feeling pain on every inch of my body as my jaw failed to heal.

"Bloody hell" I heard Rebekah murmur as she watched the flames dance across my brother's body.

"Goodnight, love" Klaus whispered in my ear as he pulled me in a headlock then grabbed my chin and twisted. The snap of my neck echoed throughout the room.

Instead of being met with darkness, I was met with light. I was looking at the light of the sky to be exact, a bright blue color without a cloud in sight. Beneath me, I could feel the grass of a field and the wind was rushing past me.

I was outside, but where? Why?

Sitting up, I felt an ache in my neck as I was met with miles and miles of grass and weeds but nothing else. There were no trees or wild animals just a clear sky and acres of grassland.

"H-hello?!" I yelled, pulling myself onto my feet only to be met with no response.

I then realized my clothes were changed from what I was wearing when Klaus snapped my neck to one of my old red gowns with orange and black detailing and tendrils for days, corset and all. It used to be one of my favorites but I was sure it was long gone.

I began walking through the endless field, in hopes of finding someone, but it felt like I hadn't actually moved an inch. I seemed to continually show up in the same place. Even so, I decided to keep trying and that lasted for hours until I finally gave up and faced the fact that I was getting nowhere.

Sighing, I sat down in the grass with my dress pooling around me. I had no idea where I was or why I was there or how I even got there.

Just as I was about to give up, I saw someone walking towards me. As soon as they were within one hundred yards to me and I saw the dress, I knew exactly who it was.

"ANA-ANASTASIA?!" I exclaimed, taking off running towards the witch.

She smiled, running towards me as well until we collided into a big hug. I hadn't seen her since I left to be with my brothers.

"Angel" She murmured with tears in her eyes as she gave me a big squeeze, "How have you been?"

We let go of each other and I sighed through a chuckle, "It seems that I can back in the midst of chaos...but I guess you already know that"

Along with being a witch, Anastasia was my guardian. She knew my father before he was killed and swore to him that she would protect me if he couldn't. That was why she took me in at my lowest and taught me how to survive. We have a bond that can't be broken.

Ana smiled a bit and nodded, "I do indeed, everything you've walked into is coming to a big messy climax as we speak"

"What do you mean?" I questioned, furrowing my eyebrows.

Ana took my hands and we begin to sit down but the entire setting changed and we ended up sitting down at chairs at a dining table. I gasped, looking around the old Salvatore dining room, "How did you--?"

The light brunette shook her head, "It doesn't matter, what does matter is the fact that you're dead right now, Lina"

My blood ran cold, "W-what...I...that's not possible!" I exclaimed, trying to stand up but being unable.

"Yes it is...it is because Klaus killed you" She stated with nothing but a stern look on her face.

Holding back tears, I shook my head once more, "What does that even mean? What does him killing me change?"

She sighed and wiped away a stray tear of mine, "He's your mate Lina, if he inflicts harm on you and leaves a mark, it will be permanent until he either takes it back or heals it himself with affection or blood"

The skipped beat of my heart made my breath hitch, "A witch named Gloria called us "The Mates" like we were some unknown occurrence but Nana told me every shapeshifting species has mates"

"That's true but you two are the only original hybrids of your breeds, the fact that the two of you are mates means great power. When the two of you work together, you are a force to be reckoned with...stronger than any Original witch or vampire"

As I tried to absorb the new information, my mind went into a sort of daze, "But since I'm dead right now, what does that mean?"

"It means that only Klaus can bring you back" Anastasia concluded, squeezing my left hand for good measure.

Expecting that answer, I frowned, "Yeah but he won't want to, he thinks Stefan and I betrayed him and I don't even know how"

Ana went silent and gave me an apologetic look so I spoke again, "Will I ever see my brothers again?"

"I can allow you to see them briefly, in sort of a flashback but in present time...just tell me when you're ready"

"Now—I want to see them as soon as possible" I said urgently, grabbing her hands and closing my eyes as she began to chant through a whisper.

Little did I know, as I lay dead in my bed in the Boardinghouse, my brothers and Elena were making a deal with a very powerful vampire hunter in order to kill Klaus.

"Staring at her everyday isn't going to wake her up" Stefan deadpanned to his brother as he walked into his older sister's bedroom laying eyes of the sight of his older brother sitting beside their sister who appeared to be dead.

Damon clenched his teeth at his little brother's arrogance, "Being an asshole isn't going to wake her either Stef"

When Klaus returned, he not only used Tyler as a hybrid experiment and took away Stefan's humanity but he also brought Evan back covered in blood and hot as coal. Damon had to soak her in ice water just to bring her body down to normal temperature and he thought that would wake her up but it didn't. He tried to confront Klaus about it but he refused to say anything and when Damon mentioned Mikael, Klaus disappeared and hadn't been seen since.

"That bastard!" The oldest Salvatore yelled, slamming his fist down on his little sister's bed sheets and holding back tears, "What did he do to you, Ev?"

Damon laid his forehead on his sister's unmoving chest and tried hard not to cry as Stefan watched the situation almost completely unmoved by it.

"He killed her Damon, it's obvious and it's almost been a week, you're just holding on to a corpse" Stefan snapped speeding over to his broken older brother and pulling him up by his shirt before looking him dead in the eye, "Klaus killed our sister so now we're going to kill him too"

Gasping, I opened my eyes and stared at Ana in disbelief, "Th-they're plotting to kill him?"

Ana nodded sadly, "He basically tortured him when he came back to Mystic Falls with you, Stefan, and Rebekah. He forced the Bennett witch to help him solve the problem of the hybrid deaths by forcing their werewolf friend Tyler Lockwood to turn"

"What was the solution?" I asked lowly, feeling my voice begin to get raspy.

"The doppelganger's blood, they have to drink it" Ana informed me and I nodded, "It makes sense, the Original witch says the doppelganger must be dead for him to turn but if she's dead, he can't make more of his kind, ultimately leaving him alone and if there's one thing I know about Nik, it is that he never wants to feel alone"

"That's right" Ana said, squeezing my hand, "And you're the first person outside of his family to ever fill that void Ana"

"Because I'm his mate."

"Because you didn't treat him like a monster" My witch best friend said, "He can still save you, Lina"

"Yeah...if my brother's don't kill him first" I murmured, looking up at the curly haired witch with sad eyes, "They hate him more than anything Ana, even I won't stop them from killing him. Stefan has already announced me dead"

Ana shook her head, "He's just angry, he still has as much hope as Damon does"

"Right" I whispered, looking at the glossy wood on our dining table, "And even if Klaus does survive and wake me, wouldn't I still be dying anyway?"

My best friend sighed, "That is where it gets complicated and it will be discussed another time"

I frowned, "What? Why?"

"Because I don't want anything to stop you from allowing yourself to be saved" Ana admitted as she stood up, leading for me to follow her action and we were back in the field.

"What does that even mean?" I exasperated tired of the confusion.

Ana sighed, "Nothing right now, right now you need to speak with Niklaus, he's headed back to Mystic Falls to see Mikael's body"

I furrowed my eyebrows, "His father Mikael?"

When I met Elijah all those decades ago, he told me all about his family just as I had told him about mine. We trusted each other over most people. He truly was one of my best friends, he almost was like another brother.

"Yes, your brothers, Rebekah, and Elena just told him he's dead but he's only daggered" Ana replied, "They are planning to kill him on the night of the high school's Homecoming"

"And you want me to warn him?" I asked, feeling a pinch of regret.

As much as I didn't want Klaus to die, I didn't want to betray my brothers either.

"No, you don't have to if you're not comfortable with it, Klaus can take care of himself, but I want to give you the chance to redeem yourself and inform him that you're not going to wake up, he thinks you're going to" Ana explained and I slowly nodded.

"Come sit" She said, sitting down on the grass and I followed suit, crossing my legs Indian style and giving her my hands, "Close your eyes and imagine his presence"

I did as I was told, imaging his gleaming eyes and his warm presence beside me. I took a couple of deep breaths and thought of the cold chills he could give me with a simple sentence and soon I felt something in my gut.

It was a warm, whirling feeling and soon after, I heard the rush of cars and the low hum of a familiar engine. I opened my eyes again and saw Klaus sitting at the driver's seat of his car, speeding down the road.

"Nik, I didn't betray you" The words tumbled out of my mouth before I could stop myself.

Abruptly, he hit the breaks nearly sending me through the windshield before he looked at me with wide, intense eyes.

My voice came out as more of a ghostly echo and I wasn't sure why until I realized I was technically a ghost.

"Angel? How are you here?" He unbuckled his seat belt and reached out for me but his hand went straight through me. I somehow still felt his warmth, though.

"I'm dead Nik, like actually dead, dead. You killed me, remember?" I asked, turning in the seat to face him.

He frowned and I saw sadness and regret in his blue eyes as he shook his head, "No, you're supernatural, you are supposed to heal"

I shook my head feeling tears in my eyes as I told him what Ana told me, "No Nik, remember the bruises? If either of us inflict pain on the other and it leaves a mark, it is permanent unless the one of us who inflicted the harm on the other takes it back or heals it with blood or affection"

Klaus went silent and I swore I saw tears brimming in his eyes, "But..."

"You're the only one who can bring me back" I said through a cracked voice, "And I swear whatever Stefan was planning, I had no part in it. I haven't spoken to him alone in days"

Klaus blew out air from his nostrils, seeming to be battling with himself before looking back up at me and nodding, "I believe you...my blood can heal you?"

An ecstatic feeling shot through me but I kept inside and nodded curtly instead, "That's what my friend Anastasia told me, that and affection, like when we...hug and what not"

"What if I kissed you, like a sleeping beauty of sorts" He said cheekily, obviously in the midst of smirking.

I couldn't help but to blush a little, "Th-that would probably work too"

He nodded with a small smile, "I apologize for my past actions"

"I know" I murmured through a small whisper before I was gasping awake, back in front of Anastasia.

If only he would show the world the affectionate, funny side that he showed me. Maybe then I wouldn't have to worry about being dead forever because my brother's successfully killed him.
