Ariana Gilbert awoke to complete bliss, everything with Nik was what she had always wanted it to be. He was perfect in her eyes, in all his murderous, devilish glory. When somebody had lived for as long as he had, it was no surprise the enemies he had made and the horrible things he had done. She loved him either way. Niklaus was slowly showing Ariana all the things that falling in love had to offer, and she awoke desiring his intimacy. They hadn't gone all the way, not by any means but he had shown her things and made her feel sensations she never before had.
It was to her slight disappointment that she awoke the next day in bad alone. But how could she blame him for that, being who he was, he was restless, he wanted to do things and conquer the world and she loved him for it. Lying in her bed, Ariana felt a sudden need to vomit, blood rising in her throat and she sprinted into the on-suit bathroom, emptying her guts into the toilet, blood splattering across the perfectly bleached surface. When she was empty, she stood up, washing her face, she caught sight of her face in the mirror and was startled, her face flashed between her vampire face and her human face as if indecisive and an ominous chanting filled her head that made her whip around, searching for the source. There was nobody there.
When all had settled once more, Ariana was left starving and confused as she pulled her clothes onto her body in a buried fashion. She needed to speak to Bonnie because this seemed like a witch problem. Sprinting from the room and down the stairs, she went barrelling straight into Nik who was slightly surprised as he steadied her.

"Morning Love, is everything okay?" looking up into his ocean blue eyes of concern, she told him the truth and his brow only crinkled further. Ariana knew that she could trust Klaus more than anybody else and she wasn't about to risk keeping something from him. He was an original and if he didn't know the answer, nobody did. "It sounds like the spirits are trying to communicate with you" Ariana was very unimpressed to hear that she was being haunted by dead witches. "But, I don't know why they would need to... Leave it with me Love" he promised and pressed a kiss to her forehead that she rejoiced in receiving. It was the simplest things that caused her heart to flutter the most.

Ariana sat in a pew at the church, watching as her sister walked up and down the aisles setting down leaflets. Elena looked just as bad as Ariana felt, but at least Ariana had managed to keep some of the blood down, Elena had not even managed to withhold a mouthful and it was worrisome. Matt seemed to understand the pain that his ex-girlfriend was going through as he spoke to her quietly. A girl sat in the front row, April Young, Ariana had met her but never seen her before and could no attest that she was beautiful, even sat in mourning of her father.
Elena felt terrible about the whole ordeal and Ariana couldn't help but agree, just the thought of all the people that had died made her feel queasy like all she wanted to do was curl up into a ball and cry. Though, despite knowing the people all her life, she had never been close to any of the council members who had died. When Elena suddenly ran, Ariana was quick to follow her. The pair locking themselves in one of the bathrooms as Elena puked blood. But this was different from what had happened to Ariana, Elena was rejecting being a vampire whereas, with Ariana, it had been as though the spirits were trying to turn her human again...

The sight of Elena spewing blood made Ariana feel sick and she turned around as she dialled a very familiar number.
"Hello little one, haven't heard from you in a while" Damon was cocky as ever as his voice spread through the phone.
"We have a problem. Can you please bring Elena a spare change of clothes?"
"What did she do? Have an accident?" he smirked, she could hear it in his voice.
"Something like that" her voice was hushed as she looked back at her crying twin sister. There was something very wrong with the twins, that much was clear. And Ariana couldn't wait to get out of town and away from the witches that had decided to curse her. "Elena, can you try and contain it to one place?" Ariana groaned as she hung up on the words that Damon was saying and began moping up the floor with as much toilet roll as she could bundle into her hands. Elena was a mess of crimson, splattering it gruesomely around the small room and Ariana quickly found her dress just as sodden in blood as her twins. It was carnage.
When Damon arrived, Ariana wanted nothing more than to get the hell away from the smell of blood that was drinking her crazy but of course, they were interrupted by Connor Jordan who seemed to be stalking them. And her pink dress now seeped in blood too, she just wasn't as lucky as Elena and had forgotten to get a costume change for herself. Thinking quickly on her feet, she said a quick farewell to her sister and jumped from the window, moving at a fast pace as quickly as she could back to the Mikaelson mansion.
When she slammed through the front door, Klaus grabbed her in his arms, holding onto her.
"The spirits, they're trying to make you... Human... " he frowned, after having discussions with all the witches who owed him favours, and communcations with the ancestors who constantly caused them trouble, he had reached a suitable conclusion.
"What? Why? That's impossible"
"I know... You're becoming a hybrid Ariana. Half vampire... Half human"

This fiction is based on a short story I wrote inspired by a prompt on r/WritingPrompts. Contrary to my plans, I haven't sketched out the story in detail or written anything ahead of time. I've discovered I don't do well at that. I'm just writing this thing and we'll see where it takes us, OK? Nothing every came easy to Ryan Shakespeare, but as an elite British Army sniper he had found a niche that suited him, right up to the point at which he found himself summoned to a world far from his own to fulfil the job of a champion.
