Semidio High

The blonde-haired girl skipped to school extremely early, feeling much more cheerful. She would probably be teased even more because she was now friends with Percy Jackson, aka unpopular person, but at the moment she didn't care. She had a friend.

Although she braced herself for the teasing and the insults as soon as she walked through the main doors, she still wasn't quite prepared for the onslaught. Drew walked right up to her, saying, "Percy Jackson, dear? Next you'll be befriending, oh, I don't know... that emo kid?" She laughed her head off and joined her friends again.

The blonde-haired boy, meanwhile, was trying to find his way around his room, knowing that school started soon and he needed to find his car keys. He navigated his way around a pile of messily folded clothes and finally spotted his keys on the table. Snatching the keys, the boy darted out the door. He made it to school just on time, and exited the old truck with a sigh of relief. The morning crowd, however, almost made him late to class. He entered the classroom right as the teacher was starting to speak, and slouched into his chair, trying to avoid the glare his teacher was probably sending him.

The Cherokee girl was trying to avoid thinking of what she had said to her dad earlier, one of the few times she caught a glimpse of him. "I wish you'd actually be a good father," she had yelled angrily, before slamming the door in his face. She regretted it, yes, but she'd let go of all her mixed emotions in those few words. Without the knot of emotion in her chest, the girl felt finally free, or at least to some degree. Another important thing on her mind was the blonde boy and his bank loan.

She had somehow found herself in a sticky situation-if he deciphered the true meaning behind her words, she'd be in big, big trouble. Not literally, but still. The boy, Jason Grace, was a mystery. He was always barely on time, and always left right as the bell rang. It was as if he had no time to lose, and had to get going straight away. Normally she never caught a single glimpse of him just after the bell rang, but after she'd paid his loan he hung around for a few minutes, packing his bags.

The golden-eyed girl was talking to the bulky Asian boy she'd found in the cemetery. They had become fairly good friends after that incident, and she often found herself thinking of him, crouched on the ground, looking at his mother's gravestone. Emily Zhang, it had read, died a hero. Taken from us too soon. Typical gravestone words, and yet she understood what it was like. After all, hadn't she lost her mother too?

She was also thinking of Piper McLean, whom she could proudly declare a friend. Piper had been nothing short of understanding and kind toward her, and the least she could do was return the favor. So the golden-eyed girl was planning a surprise, making her own little gift for her new friend.

After school, the scrawny Latino boy was fiddling with some scrap metal in Workshop, the one class he was good at. After a bit of tinkering, the metal had been turned into a mini helicopter, which he promptly threw across the fairly empty classroom. In the middle of its arc, the helicopter sprouted wings and flew back to him. The teacher looked up, startled, and he smiled. Another easy A for Leo today, he thought, and threw the helicopter again, this time knowing that Mr. Reid's attention was completely focused on him and his newest toy. Mr. Reid looked from the boy to the helicopter, and back again. Then he turned to his notepad and jotted down something that looked suspiciously like an A++. The boy smirked, and, after a bit more tinkering, made the helicopter into a Greek war trireme, complete with ballistae and war shields. It was, in his words, very epically awesome.

The boy with the onyx eyes was spread-eagled on his bed. He sat up mid-way to press the play button on his phone, and almost immediately "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" started playing. He smiled a little bit, closing his eyes, and leaned back onto his black pillows. Music was the only thing that could really calm him down, make him feel...almost happy. Almost. Not quite. He imagined his sister Bianca watching down from up above, and frowned.

Bianca wouldn't want him to be like this, a shell of his former self. He was no longer the little innocent boy who liked playing Mythomagic, and could memorize every single card he owned. That kid was gone. In his place was the silent, unhappy boy who spent most of his time listening to music.

The girl with the electric-blue eyes was staring blankly at the road in front of her, wondering how easy it would be to just jump in front of the next car and just end everything. It was tempting, but then she remembered her little brother. Her innocent little brother she'd left behind two years ago, when she'd left the burden of their house, their mother, and their loans all on him. She'd sworn to return someday and visit him, and currently that was the only thing stopping her from dashing in front of the next incoming car. She glanced back at her little apartment room, barely fifty square feet wide, consisting of a kitchen, washing & drying machine, desk, bed, and all other mismatched things she'd collected. Her backpack was slung over a chair, bed unmade-in other words, a mess. The girl thought it was ironic how, just two years ago, she'd been an absolute neat freak, making sure everything was placed just right.

She gained a faraway look in her eyes as she remembered the past, remembered how he had entered her life and then left, remembered how she'd left her home without a second glance, even when Jason had cried her name despairingly, not knowing what was happening. Remembered her mom, who was drunk most of the time, who could never love either of her children.
