Semidio High

The girl with the golden eyes arrived at school just in time for her daily "bullying session" with Drew Tanaka, the school's meanest girl. Drew was "popular" and was in the same gang as Piper McLean, who was by far the prettiest girl at Semidio High.

Back to the bullying. Every day, just as she got to school, Drew would be there waiting to taunt her and tease her about everything.

"Honey," Drew would say in a sickly sweet voice, "where'd you get those clothes? Forever 89? Oh wait, right, you're too stupid to shop at stores, I bet you just order random clothes and hope they're pretty, hmm?"

Today, the girl wasn't in the mood for Drew at all. Shame, because Drew was very in the mood for bullying her. But today, things took a turn for the better. In the middle of a sentence, Drew was interrupted by Piper. Piper McLean.

"Drew, what in the world do you think you're doing?" Piper demanded, hands on her hips in an angry way. Drew looked like a deer caught in headlights, and quickly dashed away.

"I hope she wasn't too mean to you," Piper directed toward the girl, "I don't know why I hang out with her anyway. By the way, I'm Piper." She smiled. "And you are...?"

"Hazel," the girl whispered, "Hazel Levesque." And that was the start of a better day-the girl with the golden eyes, the outcast, had made a new friend.
