It was a few weeks into the summer holidays now, and trying to get any alone time with Fred was impossible. All we wanted to do was hug and kiss, but even in-front of our friends, it was too awkward.

Fred and I were currently sitting in one of the worn leather sofas in the drawing room, his head in my lap as I played with his hair, and both of us silently watching the flames dance in the fireplace.

Our moments of peace were always ruined by someone, and this time it was Ron. He seemed to always ruin our quiet moments. Bless him.

"Hey Y/N? Um...You've got a letter..." Ron stammered.

I immediately shot up, startling Fred. I thought something had happened to another one of my friends - every letter made me think one of them had gone just like Ced.

"Who is it from Ron?!" I asked urgently, following him into the kitchen, where the letter lay opened on the table.

Now, every letter had to be opened beforehand to make sure it wasn't cursed by death eaters.

Ron looked into my eyes and simply said, "Amos Diggory."

I gasped, and quickly grabbed the letter. The problem was, it wasn't a letter. It was an invitation. To Cedric's funeral.

Well, it was more of a memorial service - Cedric had been buried a few days after his tragic death, but no one was ready to properly say goodbye then.

Fred had run into the room after he heard my gasps and my sobs, and quickly pulled me into a hug.

"I'll...um....leave you to it then." Ron said awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck - he didn't know how to deal with these sort of things. Fred simply nodded at him, and Ron quickly left the kitchen.

I finally stopped sobbing, and sat at the kitchen table, staring at the invite in-front of me. Fred put his hand over mine on the table, and softly smiled at me. He always knew how to ease the pain.

"I can come with you if you want to Y/N." He said.

"Freddie, you're invited too. You're not my plus one, you were Cedric's friend too." I told him.

He nodded, and watched me as I began to break down again.

"Shhh...it's okay Black. You can cry it's okay to cry." Fred whispered to me, rubbing my back reassuringly.

"I just miss him so much Freddie." I said between sobs. My head was now buried in my hands, and I knew this feeling of guilt and sadness too well.

"I know you do darling, he misses you too. We all miss him." He muttered into my hair as he hugged me again.

I looked up, took my head out of my arms and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"I'd be a mess without you Freddie." I slightly smiled at him.

"No Y/N, you'd be chaos." He teased, making me laugh.

"Unfortunately Fred Weasley, you are spot on."

I said, as I pulled him to a soft kiss, closing my eyes as I did so.

It was short and sweet, but it's what I needed. He always knew what I needed - it was normally him.

Fred would always give me hugs, kisses, jokes, music - for God's sake he even wrote poetry over the last week to make me feel better!

Fred really was the best thing that happened to me.

And he's right, it be a wreck and mess if he wasn't there to help me get back up one of fallen down.

He supported me.

He loved me.

Most of all, he made me happy.

Fred Weasley was truly wonderful.

And, he was helping me mourn Cedric, and was by my side through it all.
