Inbetween all this drama, I'd actually been spending a lot of time with Cedric too, I just always needed up hanging out with him everyday - it was never planned, we were just in the same places. I got to know Cho even more, and we got even closer as friends. They were the cutest couple in the school and never made me feel like a third wheel - it was great.
Cedric had been trying to solve what the gold egg was for a while now, and I was waiting for him with Cho outside Charms, when Moody came up to us, and pulled him aside as soon as he left the classroom. Moody was always a bit strange, but I guess that's what happens when you deal with dark wizards for so long - who wouldn't be a bit messed up and paranoid after all that?
Turns out, he'd told Cedric what to do with the gold egg, so we rushed to the prefect bathroom. Me and Cho waited outside as Ced went in, and around half an hour later, he came out with wet hair and a grin.
"Mermaids." He simply said, and decided to rush off and find Harry to return the favour for giving Ced help for the first task.
After Ced had told Harry, we tried to solve the riddle in a corner of the library near the restricted section - so it was empty except for the odd Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Ced kept repeating the riddle, and it was nearly making sense.
"Cedric?" I asked, my voice muffled by my fave being in a book on mermaids.
"Yeah Y/N?" He asked sounding tired.
"Aren't there mermaids in the Black Lake?" I thought out loud - we'd been doing this for hours now, just randomly guessing hoping some logic would come out of somewhere.

Cedric and Cho both turned to me, and I raised my head from the book to see two faces of delight and excitement.
"You did it Y/N!" Cho squealed.
"The mermaids are in the Black Lake - so that's where the next task will be." Cedric smiled at both of us, pulling all three of us into a big hug.
"I wonder what you will have to retrieve?" I said.
"Whatever it is, I only have an hour there, so I need to find something to help me go underwater." He said, already on his feet looking for charm books.
It didn't take Ced long to find the bubblehead charm, and it turned out he'd already done it before, so it was just about perfecting it now. But, it was nearly after hours, so we raced back to our individual common rooms, after a day of solving clues.
The day before the second task, me, George, Cedric, Cho and some others were all in the courtyard, when Moody came up to me followed by Hermione, Ron and I believe Fluer's younger sister.
"Black, come with me." Moody huffed.
"Why?" I asked, I was confused. I hadn't done anything bad this year - why was I in trouble?
"You're not in trouble, but we need you now, so leave your little pals and come quickly - I don't have all day." Moody grumbled at me - he sounded similar to Percy when he got impatient, and that's someone you never want to sound like.
I gave an apologetic look to the group as I left in the middle of our conversation, and smile at Cedric - he was really nervous about the task tomorrow. Little did I know, I wouldn't even be there to cheer him on, because I'd be tied up underwater, waiting for my childhood friend to rescue me within the hour given for the second task.

A Dungeon Tested
Its a hard life balancing all the things a successful dungeon should be doing. Will our newest addition to the dungeon race even survive let alone make it to the top where dungeons such as the megafauna roam? Or will our main character suffer in the dust till some inauspicious and ignoble death at the end of some F-rankers sword? Note this is me having some fun while I wait for new releases of dungeon stories. Feel free to comment on that basis. I will be keeping the first few chapters slow so as to give me plenty to build upon later. I have tentatively given this the gore tag for now. With that in mind "Let the games begin".

Oublivant
Oublivants: a category of dungeons characterised by the antithesis of life, necrosis. "Dungons as a whole tend towards the lethal side when it comes to exploring them; however, an oublivant actively seeks out destruction on a grand scale. No greater example of their deep hatred for life exists than the very first discovery of an oublivant. It was a massive dungeon spanning miles in all directions. It continuously expanded along the surface, so fast you could see it, and left nothing but a scorched, withered wasteland in its wake. Wherever the oublivant resides, nothing but the undead exist, as all living life has been eradicated. Why it is, exactly, the oublivant seem so against life so as to break the passive rule dungeons have is unknown. What is known, however, is that they're a threat that, upon discovery, is to be immediately eliminated." - Archomagus Addiom Onero, Court of VascilNote: This is my first story on royal road. It'd be nice if you were nice... nicely.
