《Country Living - Finn Harries (JacksGap)》Chapter 1: They're Here.

"Daddy's here!" I heard Josie say as I entered the stable just off the kitchen. I went over to my horse, Caspian, like from Narnia. He's a chestnut brown with a softy brown mane. His bright green eyes always comfort me. "Hey, big guy. Ready for a ride?" I asked him. I received a cheerful neigh from the horse, making me smile. "Good, me too." I replied, fastening my saddle on his back. I jumped on just as I saw our truck pull up our long drive. "Let's go bud." I said, pulling the reigns to signal Caspian to move.
We rode away from the house to a little trail. I watched as the truck parked. Dad got out of the driver's side with a smile on his face. "Daddy, you're back!" I heard Josie say as she ran out to him. The other side door opened to reveal two guys that looked very similar, almost identical. One had a black t-shirt with a white ghost on it, a pair of black gym shorts, some Nikes, and a snapback. The other had a white t-shirt, a pair of skinny jeans, black Vans, and a pair of black Ray Ban sunglasses. "Oh, look at the farm house, Finn." The guy in the snapback said with a thick British accent. The other guy looked around, then looked in my direction. He took off his sunglasses and looked at me. "Wow." I heard him say in the same accent. "It's gorgeous, isn't it?" the guy in the snapback said. "She is, definitely." The other guy said, softly waving at me. I waved back. "Who are you waving at?.....Woah." the guy in the snapback said. "Come on, boys. Grab your bags and let's get inside." Dad said. I felt Caspian move forward, so we kept walking down the trail, away from the boys I would spend my summer with.

The Last Science
[This story is on a temporary hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I work in healthcare and unfortunately no longer have the freetime to continue posting on a regular basis. As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Nestled deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, something is emerging. Kept in absolute secrecy, it seeps into a fading town, quietly shared from person to person. For Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate, this discovery could mean an escape from his empty existence. To Rachel DuValle, perpetually underestimated and dismissed by the world, magic represents a chance to become something much greater than herself. In the face of an unsuspecting world, their decisions shape the growth of a budding society discovering untold power. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. Want this story in smaller bites? Click here! The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. Each chapter is pretty long (average ~8000 words), so find somewhere comfy to read.
