"It's Prom day." A loud voice says as a weight jumps on me.
"Oh my god it's also morning." I say with a tired moan.
"It's prom. Our last prom." Bea's voice shouts as she flops down next to me.
"Shhh." I say rolling over into her and sighing.
"Your such a baby when you wake up." She says chuckling. Brushing my hair away from her face.
So is Seth.
I think to myself. I find a small smile find it's way onto my face.
"We have to go tanning." Bea says shoving me slightly.
"Okay okay." I say rolling over and sitting up.
"Callie's downstairs." She tells me. I rub my eyes and nod. I climb out of bed and dig through my drawers, still half asleep. I pull out a white patterned bikini and undress and slip it on.
"Okay come on." Bea says grabbing my hand as I tug a hairbrush through my tangled hair. I drop the brush onto my desk as she pulls me excitedly down the hallway. She drags me down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Here's sleeping beauty." Callie says with a chuckle.
"Sleeping beast more like." Leroy mutters from where he and Jacob are tapping away on their laptops.
"Sleeping is good for you." I mutter as I drink is shoved into my hand and throwing Leroy a look to which he chuckles at.
"You can sleep on the beach." Bea says as we all make our way out my patio door through the backyard and down onto the beach.
Bea puts down a massive towel mat that my family keeps in our towel cupboard and I immediately slide onto it. Folding my arms over another and resting my head on them carefully.
"Ok ladies here's our schedule for the day. Two hours tanning. Then we're going to do our nails. Then have lunch. Then at 2 we start on hair and makeup. 4:00 we're in our dresses. Photos after that. And then the boys will pick us up in the limo at 5." Callie reads off a schedule on her phone.
"Didn't realise it's a wedding." I mutter as I let my heavy eyelids fall shut. The drugs hadn't quite worn off yet. "Though I'm living for it." I say realising how much of a bitch I sounded. Impressed with Callie's organising skills. It makes everything so much easier.
Sleep tugs against me as the morning sun warms my back. Making my skin tingle with satisfaction. The distant laughters from my three best friend. The soft crash of the small waves.

"Lace. Wakey wakey." A pleasant voice says pulls me into consciousness.
"No." I say frowning. I feel a wet cold weight lift themselves onto my back. I shake my shoulders trying to shrug them off but their way to heavy for me to shift.
"Lace. It's lunch time." Seth's voice says softly into my ear.
"Your lunch time." I say frowning, not bothering to open my eyes.
"Very well. I will have to squish you until you wake up." Seth says lowering more of his weight onto me.
"Your wet." I say plainly letting out a heavy breath of air.
"I went swimming." He says and I can feel him grinning shaking his hair and splashing cold water onto me.
"Okay okay. I'll get up." I groan pulling open my eyes. Seth shifts his weight off me but hovers above me. I roll over to face him and my face meets his.

"Morning sunshine." He says with a grin, an amused smirk plastered on his face.
"Shut up." I say giving him a look as he rolls off me. I sit up and rub my eyes. My eyes roam his body and he looks fucking edible. His hair is wet adjourned with some black sunglasses that sit softly on his head, his skin shiny from the water, a beautiful golden colour from the sun.
"Keep looking at me like that Lace and I will take you right here." Seth says standing up carefully. A pained look on his face as he offers me his hand to pull me up.
"Bea's around." I say carefully, looking around the beach where the girls are no where to be found.
"They've gone to buy nail polish colours. I told them to get you white because I notice you always get your nails done white. The boys are inside making lunch. We got bored so decided to crash." He says folding up the towel.
I squint my eyes as I watch him.
This boy.
I move towards him, his eyebrows raise as his hands immediately go to my hip. I stand on my tippie toes. And reach for his sunglasses. I slip them onto my face before turning away from him and making my way up towards the house. I throw my head over my shoulder, throwing him a smirk. He's shaking his head, his eyes dropping to my ass.
I grin and walk up to the house. I pull open the door and am quickly followed by Seth.
"Wow she made it." Luke calls as I enter the kitchen, from where he's tossing a salad.
"She did." I say nodding.
"Hey Oscar." I say nodding to them.
"Hey Lacey. Love the sunnies." Oscar says nodding to me.
"Thanks." I say throwing Seth a grin.
"They're my sunnies." He says raising his eyebrows at me. I roll my eyes at him and send him a winning smirk.
He just shakes his head at me, grinning as he looks down to the ground.
"Hey Lacey could you check the burger buns?" Oscar asks me pointing to the oven beside me.
"Sure." I say bending down slightly and pulling open the oven. They're slightly golden. I grab a tea towel and pull them out. Placing them down onto the bench.
"I see what you mean now Lace." Seth says watching me carefully as he plonks himself down onto the barstool.
"What do you mean?" I ask him carefully.
"Watching someone cook." He says smirking at me. I roll my eyes and grin. I move around to the side of the bench and as I go to move past Seth he grabs my arm. Tugging me towards him softly so that I'm in between his legs. I raise my eyebrows and nod to the boys in the kitchen.
Asking him 'what the heck are you doing?' with a look. He gives me a look like I should be able to answer my own question.
"They know." I say simply my face dropping.
"We do. We also think you two should actually date instead of fucking because your practically in love with each other and don't want to admit it." Luke says grinning. I roll my eyes.
"No. We don't like each other like that." I say rolling my eyes at him. Luke grins and Oscar snorts.
I turn my attention back to Seth. He's gazing at me softly.
"When are the girls going to be back?" I ask him. He shrugs, resting his hands on my waist carefully.

"They said half an hour. But we reckon forty minutes." He answers easily. I nod.
"Can I have my sunglasses back now your not wearing them?" He asks, squinting into the sunlight.
"I don't know can you?" I ask him mischievously. He grins his eyes baring into mine carefully.
"Your always such a tease." He says shaking his head at me as our face inches closer.
"Who made me watch 365 days and refused to fuck me?" I say raising my eyebrows at him sassily.
"That's fair." Seth says nodding, leaning forwards and pressing his lips to mine. I pull back and raise my eyebrows at him again.
He smirks at me.
"Wait you did what?" Luke says. My head whips to them. All three of the boys have their mouths hanging open.
"Yes. I know. Shut up." Seth says raising his eyebrows at them carefully. Their mouths snap shut and they shake their heads to themselves in disbelief.
I'm clearly missing something.
"Okay. You need to put a shirt on before we have a repeat." I say patting his chest before moving out of his legs. I reach over to a t-shirt underneath his phone and throw it at his chest. He chuckles and pulls it over his head.
"Lunch is served." Oscar says with a grin.
"Thank you guys this looks amazing." I say with a grin as I grab a plate. I put some salad onto it and half a meat patty before taking a seat of the island bench and digging in.
"It's burgers and salad. You know that right?" Seth asks me confused looking at my plate I nod.
"It's because bread makes you bloated whereas lettuce is water weight and the bloating is ten times easier to get rid of." I say with a shrug.
"Why does it matter if your bloated?" Oscar asks confused.
"Our dresses. They're fitted ish." I say shrugging. Scooping a bit of salad into my mouth.
"Why does that matter?" Oscar asks confused as the boys stare at me confused.
"Well boys. Women are expected to be skinny in order to make one of the hundreds of beauty standards that we face in todays society." I say easily. Their eyebrows shoot up.
"We're back." I hear Bea call as the door opens.
"Welcome." Oscar calls as the three girls walk into the room.
"Hey baby." Luke says picking Bea up and dropping a kiss on her lips. Seth looks away and rolls his eyes. Clearing his throat annoyed.
"Right." Luke says breaking away.
"Lacey good to see your awake now." Callie says chuckling at me sweetly. I shake my head at her.
"She was an absolute mission to get up to." Seth says chuckling to himself.
"Not even." I exclaim in protest.
"Mmm." He says wincing.
"So mean to me." I say shaking my head at him. Scooping the last bit of salad into my mouth.
"It's my job." He says with a grin taking my plate and putting it into the dishwasher.
"Okay. Lacey you can start setting up the stuff while we eat." Bea informs me, handing me a plastic shopping bag. I just nod and take it. I pull out four nail varnishes and three top coats, as well as clear acrylics.
After everything out I start on my acrylics. I fit them to my nails carefully, cut them and file them to the right shape.
"Okay. Let's get this started." Bea says slotting onto the seat next to me and grabbing a set of acrylics.
I start painting my toes while the glue on my acrylics set. The boys stand chattering at the kitchen island.
I start on my hand carefully.
"Can someone do my other hand please?" I ask looking between the girls.
"Yup I'll just finish cutting these." Bea says twiddling her hands. I nod.
"I want to try." Seth says plonking himself into a chair besides me. I raise my eyebrows at him.
"You want to paint my nails?" I ask him chuckling slightly. He nods seriously.
"Bea used to force me to do her right hand. I'm trained." He says winking at me. Bea reaches across me and drops a light punch onto Seth's shoulder. He chuckles and bats her off.
"Okay." I say with a nod. Putting my hand up onto the table, and passing him the white nail polish.
He unscrews the cap carefully and wipes some of the polish off. Before carefully beginning to apply the polish onto my nail. He stops to inspect his work and smiles.
"I am incredible." He says with a grin. I let out a small chuckle. He grabs my hand again and turns it slightly to start on the next nail. I watch him carefully as his eyebrows draw together in concentration. I grin as I watch him. Emotions overwhelming me as he inspects my nails thoroughly.
"Done." He says looking up at me to see my reaction. I inspect them.
"They're perfect." I say impressed. He winks at me before screwing the cap on the pottle and standing up.
"Ok boys. We have to leave the girls to it now." Seth says tucking the chair in and grabbing his phone off the table.
"See you guys." Callie calls waving as they head towards the front door.
"Bye bye." Bea calls.
"See ya ladies." I call with a grin as Seth turns back and shakes his head at me before shutting the door behind him.
***
"Ok. We're done." I say assessing myself in the mirror. We brought my mirror downstairs into the living room to get ready. Callie smacks her lips together and assess herself, nodding appreciatively at her reflection. Bea looks up from where she's sitting on the sofa. She'd been ready for a while.
"Finally." She says with a sigh. "Damn y'all look hot." She says joining us in the reflection. We all grin at our reflection and I take it in with a deep breath.
"Okay let's see." Molly's voice calls out from the kitchen as she waddles in with her friend Amy.
"Oh my god wow." She says her eyebrows immediately shooting upwards as her eyes scan us.
"You guys are gorgeous." Amy says her eyes wide.
"You guys look incredible." My mom says walking in. I ignore her. Keeping in the urge to roll my eyes.
"Should we get some photos on the beach once the boys get here?" My dad asks a camera hanging around his neck ready to go. "Wow you ladies look lovely. Look at you all grown up." He says looking between us. A sad gentle smile on his face.
"Ooh wait I want to see." Trina says bustling in from the kitchen, wiping her hands on a cloth followed by Callie, Oscar's, Luke's parents. There's a wholeass crowd going on.
"Oh wow." Trina says looking at us fondly.
"We should have the boys meet the girls on the beach and introduce them like they're going down the isle and video it." Molly says excitedly to Amy.
"Oh my god you guys should." Amy says nodding excitedly.
"Oh I'm not sure." I start.
"Maybe down the stairs? We can go upstairs and then do a reveal like every cheesy romance movie ever." Callie says excitedly. Ever the romantic.
"Oh I love that." Trina says clapping her hands together. All the mothers coo together and chatter about their prom.
On that note. We hear the purr of an engine outside.
"Up the stairs now." Trina says hurrying us towards the stairs. "Molly stop them from coming in until the girls are upstairs." She says to Molly. Molly nods and rushes to the door. We trot up the stairs, lifting our dresses carefully as our heels click up the stairs.
We reach the top and stop in the hallway out of sight from the bottom of the stairs. The sound of the boys voices drift upstairs. I can hear Trina explaining what they're doing as everyone's shuffling around.
"Okay. Callie you come down first." Trina calls up the stairs. We wink at Callie as she grins and starts making her way down the stairs. There's a clicking of photos and ooh's and ahh's over her dress.
"Bea." Trina calls after she winks at me nervously. I smile as I watch her descending the stairs. My best friend since birth. Our last prom. We were growing up.
"Wow." Luke's voice says drifting up the stairs. There's a lot of chatter before everyone quietens down again.
"C'mon then Lacey." I hear Trina's voice call. I chuckle and start making my way down the stairs.
"Holy shit." Seth says suddenly, his eyes widening as I descend the staircase slowly, careful not to trip. It earns him a smack on the arm from both his mother and his sister.
I shake my head and chuckle at him. I look him up and down and damn holy grail wow. This boy looked like a whole meal. He had a charcoal suit on with a white shirt which was unbuttoned two buttons at the top. He had a blue pocket square, the one that came with my dress tucked into the pocket.
"Aww Lacey you look so amazing. My daughters all grown up." My mom says gushing. This makes my smile falter as I force a smile in her direction. I move next to Seth and he grabs my hand and gives it a quick squeeze before dropping it.
"I got you something." He says as everyone moves towards the beach to take photos.
"Thank you didn't have to do that." I say sincerely.
"I know. But I wanted to." He says pulling out a smallish box tied with a baby blue ribbon and offers the box to me. I take it gratefully and tug gently on the bow letting it fall away. I pull open the box and I gasp. Inside is a beautiful bracelet. I stare at it in disbelief carefully tracing my fingers along it.
"This is beautiful." I say looking up at him, his face was full of worry but instantly softens at my words.
"I'm glad you like it. It's nothing fancy but I figured since I didn't ask you to prom, I had to make up for that." He says grinning down to me.
"I forgot about that." I say with a chuckle. "Could you put it on for me?" I ask him carefully. He nods and gently lifts the bracelet from the box and clasps is around my wrist.
"Hurry up." Luke calls from the patio where the group are all down on the beach. We nod and I place the empty bracelet box down on the kitchen bench as we exit the sliding door onto the beach.
"Hold up." I say as my heels dig awkwardly into the sand. I reach down and wobble slightly as I pull my heels off. Seth offers me his arm and I take it, holding onto it as I reach down and pull the other one off.
"Here I'll take those for you." Seth offers grabbing my heels off me. I smile at him gratefully as I pick up my dress to stop the sand from getting on it. We join the group. It's not long before the adults are ordering us around and making us pose for our photos. After what feels like hours of posing we make our way back insides.
"Okay. Let's get this show on the road." Bea says excitedly pulling her heels back on. Seth offers me mine and I take them.
"Thank you." I say with a small smile, before plonking myself down into a chair and tugging on my heels quickly.
"We'll see you tomorrow morning. Please ring us if you need picking up from anywhere." My dad tells me gently planting a kiss to my forehead.
"I will. I'll see you tomorrow." I say waving as we break apart from the slightly emotional parents and into the waiting limo.
