《The Mysterious Secret》Chapter 13

It took a while for my brain to catch-up, but in the end I happened to be in a house of some kind. But rather than it being an actual house, it was kind of like a group of rooms set into a cave. A bit confusing, if you ask me, but the information did soak in. What I had been told were of many things.
First of all, there was indeed no sky above, only the illusion of one. The whole place was submerged into the ground, through ancient invincible magic. The trees and rocks and earth were created at the same time as the hole. Another thing about the jungle was that it could not be breached by anything since it was somehow... in another dimension? And no normal human being could enter, only Kitsune. The queen had given us a personal tour and explain nearly all of our questions.
But only one thing she told us extremely confused me. She said that we were kitsune, an ancient mythical creature of multiple tails and infinite wisdom. We could be one of two things, either anima-kitsune or homin-kitsune. Anima could become the shape of any animal form, whether dog or cat or bird, any animal's shape could be ours. A homin on the other hand could be the shape of the kitsune, their original shape, and any human gender, shape, form, or look. That is what most spies were, although few were anima, mainly used for infiltrating.
Luckily Hannah lived next to me, as there was a door connecting both of the rooms. Honestly, I felt like my world had been turned around. I had been captured and fed information so fast I hadn't had time to contemplate anything really. Just when I thought that I was the only shapeshifter, Hannah came along, and I got used to that. Then we came along the old barn and were caught and caged. To much things happened in that time so fast, I can't even remember all of it.

Later we escaped and were knocked unconscious once again. Now we're here, discovering nothing is as it seems. It was indeed a bit confusing, but that's just life.
Tiredness hit me like a rock. I hadn't been able to properly sleep for what felt like ages. Is being unconscious a variation of being asleep? It must not be, as I have been unconscious and am very tired. I got under the sheets of my bed, after all, they told me I would need some sleep for tomorrow. I closed my eyes and imagined me as a kitsune, someone with a tail or more, fox's ear on my head rather than my own, and magical powers, individual to each person, some stronger than others. Even I was said to have my own, and Hannah's hers. I let my mind go blank, letting the soft, warm sea of peace swallow me up. Dozing off I had one more thought...
What does this new life hold in store for me?
A woman was crying-A man sat next to her, being comforting-Then a fire came, making the woman scream-The fire chuckled, throwing a fire-The woman's scream stopped, along with the man's-The fire walked out, leaving a trail of flames-The area set on fire, leaving only darkness, and loneliness.

Homeland
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER -- In Cory Doctorow’s wildly successful Little Brother, young Marcus Yallow was arbitrarily detained and brutalized by the government in the wake of a terrorist attack on San Francisco—an experience that led him to become a leader of the whole movement of technologically clued-in teenagers, fighting back against the tyrannical security state.A few years later, California's economy collapses, but Marcus’s hacktivist past lands him a job as webmaster for a crusading politician who promises reform. Soon his former nemesis Masha emerges from the political underground to gift him with a thumbdrive containing a Wikileaks-style cable-dump of hard evidence of corporate and governmental perfidy. It’s incendiary stuff—and if Masha goes missing, Marcus is supposed to release it to the world. Then Marcus sees Masha being kidnapped by the same government agents who detained and tortured Marcus years earlier.Marcus can leak the archive Masha gave him—but he can’t admit to being the leaker, because that will cost his employer the election. He’s surrounded by friends who remember what he did a few years ago and regard him as a hacker hero. He can’t even attend a demonstration without being dragged onstage and handed a mike. He’s not at all sure that just dumping the archive onto the Internet, before he’s gone through its millions of words, is the right thing to do.Meanwhile, people are beginning to shadow him, people who look like they’re used to inflicting pain until they get the answers they want. Fast-moving, passionate, and as current as next week, Homeland is every bit the equal of Little Brother—a paean to activism, to courage, to the drive to make the world a better place.
