《Flaming Light》Chapter 21: Prelude to Chaos: 1

Name Change: Neutrogena - Neutro | Jergens - Jerrgens
The battle royale tournament has come to an end with Dayve emerging as the winner. The curtain rises as chaos ensues...
"This is a tale of humans, beasts, and beings from other worlds. A tale of a girl who wants to surpass the strongest; no this is their tale. A tale of hope. A tale of Flaming Light."
At the Southern border of The Central Plains, Axion points his black sword at Furyoku, holding it in a manner like one playing snooker (pool), with one hand holding the hilt and the other hand having its fingers at the tip of the blade. Quickly, he dashes against Furyoku, who is also charging at him.
"East Wind: Scorching Wave!!!" Furyoku swings one of the swords of his gigantic ethereal warrior, unleashing a massive heat wave which sets ablaze everything in its path. Axion sees the incoming incursion and fixes his gaze on Furyoku.
"Way of the Assassin: Black Bullet." In the blink of an eye, surpassing the speed of sound, he zooms forward, blitzing in and out of the heat wave and piercing right through Furyoku's ethereal warrior. Still in shock as to Axion's speed, Furyoku barely manages to evade Axion's sword although he does get a slight cut on his cheek. Axion comes to a halt after running through the ethereal warrior. Furyoku quickly turns and jumps backwards as blood drips from the cut he just got.
"I thought he was already fast but to think that he could go faster. At his age, to have attained such speed and skill, he's truly a monster, a gifted one at that. If speed is his forte, then I'll just have to slow him down," Furyoku deliberates while Axion takes a deep breath.
"North wind: Wind of the frozen silo!!" Furyoku exclaims, a hand extends from the shoulder of the ethereal warrior, picks up one of the swords at the back and stabs it into the ground. Suddenly, the areas surrounding Furyoku's giant ethereal warrior is swirling with strong current of chilling air.
Axion exhales and zooms off again at Furyoku with his Black Bullet technique. However, Furyoku dodges this time and swings the sword with the East wind at Axion releasing a wave of scorching heat. Axion notices and quickly jumps out of the massive swirling wind.
Furyoku, seeing him retreat, smiles and assumes, "Your speed won't be a problem anymore. The North wind will slow you down by freezing your movements and then you won't be able to avoid the burning of the East Wind. This should be over soon."
Axion smiles a bit and starts hopping on his right foot. "So this is the excitement of fighting a General... interesting."
"Black Bullet: Barrage!!!" Axion immediately runs forward again, however this time, there are several images of him. Swiftly he moves, barraging Furyoku from multiple angles and weaving his hits. Furyoku also tries to dodge Axion's onslaught while in shock of the technique.
"He can still move faster?! Those aren't clones, they're after images caused by high speed movement. At this rate, he might get me," Furyoku reasons.
"In that case," Furyoku mumbles and instantly, another comes out of the left shoulder of the giant ethereal being and draws out the fourth sword. He joins two of his words together and takes a leap.
"Fusion of Winds: Tempest!!!" a violent spiraling whirlwind is released from the tip of the fused sword, sending Furyoku and his giant ethereal warrior, high into the sky.

"It won't be easy for him to reach me now," he claims. "The North wind will slow him down, the Tempest will make it difficult for him to reach me high up in the sky and while he's making his way here, I'll use a massive East wind to blow and burn him away.
"Come, you brat!!!" Furyoku yells from high up in the sky and begins spinning the East wind sword.
Axion quickly halts and looks up at Furyoku. The distance is quite much, over three thousand metres (3000m), his legs have begun to freeze, an effect of the North wind. Axion sheaths his black sword, bends and declares,
"Atomic Style: Step 1: Atomic Fade."
Furyoku has his gaze fixed solely on Axion, preparing for any charge from any angle, not underestimating his abilities. But, silently and swiftly, in the blink of an eye, Axion is right in front of Furyoku, as if he vanished and materialised at Furyoku's face.
"Step 2: Atomic Burst." Axion calmly utters and with an immense speed before Furyoku can even react, unleashes a large cut of about forty feet on the ethereal warrior. Instantly an enormous explosion bursts forth, blasting away Furyoku and everything in front of Axion.
BOOOOOMMMM!!!
The size of the eruption is so massive, over six square miles (6 square miles), it even causes violent rumbles on the ground given that it occurred high in the sky.
Axion is already on the ground, he quickly puts his sword back in its case and then exhales again. He is immediately joined by his partner, Jerrgens.
"Interesting, truly amazing, kid," Jerrgens expresses, swiftly appearing at Axion's side.
"To think that you'd be able to defeat a General, you're one in a billion. Neutro always has eyes for such," he adds.
"What of the other lady?" Axion asks.
"She managed to escape. I got bored. Besides we have to hurry to the dimensional gateway Jac de Jac set up. He's a man who pays attention to detail and any time he has set has to be precisely followed. He creates affordances though, just in case," Jerrgens replies.
"And where does this gateway lead us to?" Axion further questions.
"To the meeting point of this mission of course and that is Glory Academy," Jerrgens responds.
Meanwhile, at Glory Academy, Phoenix while carrying Serena, emitting some light from his hands which he is using to heal her wounds, is standing close to Dayve as Dayve is about to receive his award from the school principal, Aizawa.
Suddenly, Phoenix, puts Serena on his shoulder, grabs Dayve and makes a huge leap to the Royals' viewing room at the top of the coliseum. Simultaneously, a huge purple beam shoots from the sky at the spot where Phoenix was previously standing. The clouds get darker and large circles with purple glow appear randomly. The beam of light dissipates and three beings are standing there. All the kings and queens are shocked seeing the three beings, as are their Generals and escorts.
"Been a minute, hasn't it? That beam was meant to teleport Phoenix to another location. Seems like he has gotten even more powerful than I previously anticipated," Jac De Jac mentions, standing with Dayve's father, Leonardo Blaze and behind them is a mysterious man with long white hair, his eyes having crimson colored iris and white pupil.
Phoenix, laying eyes on the white haired man, lets go of Serena and Dayve. In a flash, before anyone can react, appears in front of him and lands a heavy punch. The royals at the viewing are quite astonished at the speed. Phoenix's punch is followed by a mighty bang, pushing the white haired man some distance however, he does manage to block the blow.

Dubnet snaps and quickly reaches to grab the long white jacket that Phoenix left behind before sprinting off.
"That was fast, that was really fast. I couldn't see anything at all," Dubnet ponders.
Jac de Jac and Leonardo Blaze, swiftly turn and jump backwards to put some distance between themselves and Phoenix. Aizawa take his fighting stance and recites,
"The beautiful sky smiles, the heavens let down its shine,
The merciless sky cries, it's time for the divine to dine,
Blade Awakening: Feast of the Insatiable dragons!!!"
Promptly, two white silhouettes glowing brilliantly, each taking the shape of a serpentine dragon burst forth from Aizawa's back. Aizawa is about to attack but then halts when he looks up to the sky and sees a horde of strange looking creatures descending from each of the purple glowing circles.
"So many low-tier demons have been allowed passage. Jac de Jac, this is your doing," Aizawa states.
Everyone's attention sharply shifts to a monstrous and peculiar aura advancing at a tremendous speed.
"That's a Celestial?!" Luxxi Hertz, Queen of Stormville, articulates from the Royal viewing room.
Campione, one of the judges for the event who is now back at the judges' room, quickly asserts, "That's not just any celestial, that energy feels like the Blade Celestial. I can tell 'cause I've encountered him before."
Hachi, also one of the judges, verifies, "You mean the Blade Celestial?! Isn't he among the top five most powerful Celestials?!"
The Blade Celestial approaching with an incredible speed, crashes into one of the buildings in Glory Academy. It is the building where the participants of the Battle Royale tournament go to get their wounds treated.
At the spectators' area, Bakuzan (Teru's teacher - Chapter 5 & Chapter 13), immediately sprints off, saying to Kensora, "I have to go get Teru quickly. It is as I suspected, the Celestials will be after him after seeing the display of his power today."
Kensora is about to bolt off with Bakuzan but then stops to realize that there are more dangerous guests.
Right at the battleground where Phoenix is standing, three other strange looking beings appear behind Neutro. Jac de Jac smiles and speaks, "Surely, you didn't think I'd invite only low-tier demon creatures, did you?"
One of the strange looking creatures, behind Neutro, steps forward a bit and states to Phoenix, "Years ago, you sealed us off from your realm however, now, thanks to Neutro and Jac de Jac, we have found our way back. It's been a while Phoenix. You might have been able to defeat Belzene back then but now your time is up."
The being has two large curved horns with markings, proceeding from each of the side of his head, long black hair, fiery eyes and flame particles surrounding his entire body.
"Mephisto, no time for long chit chat," another of the strange beings voices, in his deep thundering voice. This one is very huge and muscular, clad in magnificent armor with spikes, having medium length hair. He is wielding what seems like two large handguns, also having some other huge gun-like weapons strapped to his back.
The last strange creature has more of a female look, she smiles and states, "Shall we just get this over with? Mephisto, Spada and the esteemed dark emperor, Neutro." She stands there, resting a very long scythe on one of her shoulders. She has long violet hair, cold-looking violet dragon eyes and black particles hovering around her.
Phoenix calmly exhales and remarks, "Well, well, what do we have here? Three demon kings, Mephisto, Spada and Nocte. Of course, I haven't forgotten, the dark emperor, Neutro, the traitor of Lightville, Leonardo Blaze and the one with the key to seven dimensions, Jac de Jac."
Jac de Jac begins to levitate and responds, "Since the beam failed in zapping you away, it is only natural that I keep you occupied for our plan to go smoothly. After all, you are our biggest threat here."
Neutro adds, addressing Phoenix, "I would've loved to take you on alone, however, I've only recovered fifty percent of my original power, no thanks to you."
Simultaneously, the entire Glory Academy is in shambles as everyone is running around trying to escape from the horde of demon creatures swarming the place.
At the royals' viewing room,
"There's so much confusion," Rouge, Queen of Psyville, states.
"It's expected since it's not just low-tier demons but I can sense some mid-tier and high-tier demon beings around," Draem, King of Psyville, replies.
Luxxi Hertz suggests to Farads, "If the dark emperor, Neutro is back, that can only mean chaos and bad news. Please locate Tesla and leave with her. Let the escorts find the other citizens of Stormville and take them back to the kingdom. I'll go help Phoenix in dealing with those demons."
Immediately, she jumps off from the viewing room and while in the air zooms off to meet Phoenix. Still in motion, she launches an assault against Spada, one of the demon kings standing behind Neutro. A bow made of white lightning appears at her hand. She pulls it, a lightning arrow appears and she declares,
"Storm release: Chaos Bolt!!!"
Letting go of the arrow, a mighty bang is created, shattering all the glass in that coliseum. An astounding outburst of lightning flows from her bow, wrecking everything in its path and slams into Spada who tries to resist it but screeches back some distance. The shockwave from the collision of the bolt and Spada collapses the building nearby. That is the building the judges' were watching from, although they have already left the place. Instantly, Luxxi appears at Phoenix's side and affirms, "I'll lend a hand, like old times. I know Diana has to keep the children safe, that's really going to be tasking."
Seeing this, the other Kings and Queens begin to move.
Isabelle, Queen of Aquaville, laughs, creating a large torrent of water beneath and zooming off. "It has begun. Your time is up, Phoenix," she envisions. Hahydroh, king of Aquaville sighs and finds his way out.
Echo Forge, king of the Central Plains, is about to lend a hand to Phoenix when Goryu, king of Galedom, suddenly appears in front of him and swiftly carries him away. Goryu has already told his escorts to take Nadia and any other Galedom citizens back to the Kingdom safely.
"What are you doing, Goryu?" Echo Forge demands.
"It's about time for that bout, don't you think?" Goryu responds.
"Kiiara," it dawns on Diana and she quickly grabs Serena (who is trying to wake up), Dubnet and Dayve, making a run for it. Dayve insists on staying back, seeing his father as anger wells up within him.
"We don't have time for this Dayvelion. You cannot challenge your father now, you're not there yet," Diana says with a cold tone. Dayve can sense the seriousness in her voice and immediately follows her as she exits the royals' viewing room.
At the same time, Gray, King of Earthville, instructs Drey his son, to take Derene (his wife and Drey's mother) back to Earthville while General Karbine should go and get Damian. "I'll get the rest of the Earthvillans (citizens of Earthville) and my daughter, May, to safety," he adds in his deep voice.
Gray proceeds to levitate to the middle of the spectators' area and from there causes the entire spectators' area, including the royals' viewing room, to also float in the air. He then turns and begins moving away from the battleground along with the massive spectators' area. The spectators are happy while some of the warriors among them quickly jump off so as to lend a hand against the horde of demon creatures running around Glory Academy. At the royals' viewing room which is flowing along with Gray, Marcus leaves his family there for safety purpose and jumps off. Damian, king of Darkville and his entourage also exit the place by dissipating into black particles. Draem directs his escort to take his wife, Rouge, back to Psyville while he will go and search for Kevine.
Seeing as Gray lifted and took the spectators' area with him, the way the Kings and Queens were moving, Jac de Jac proceeds with a technique of his, saying, "If things go on like this, plans may not be accurately carried out. Nonetheless, I've taken into consideration something like this and I've prepared for it already. Having laid some seals around the school, I shall now pull the curtain on the prelude to chaos. Dimensional style: Dynamic Distribution Labyrinth."
Instantly a purple light encompasses the entire Glory Academy and after the light vanishes, people have been relocated randomly to different parts of the school.
However, Phoenix, Luxxi, Neutro and the three demon kings remain where they are but seem to be enclosed by a purple barrier of some sort.
"I have kept you guys in a separate dimension so that you can fight all you want. I've already sent Leonardo to his point of retrieval. Every other person has been randomly distributed. Now the plan can go on efficiently," Jac de Jac explains and begins fading away.
Phoenix looks at Luxxi and conveys, "Thank you Luxxi, you can handle Spada and I'll handle the other two demon kings and Neutro."
Luxxi nods in agreement.
"Now then, shall we begin?" Neutro propounds and grins.

Just wait and see...It can always get worse.. always.. .... Congratulations, you've made it through the intro and into the author note! If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on.. Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster.. Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet. Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.

Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
