《Hiroto The Cursed Phoenix Mage》Chapter 11: My Unlucky Encounter Inside The Dungeon

"Dungeon," everyone said loudly.

That's right, in the world of magic there is dungeons. Unlike the other dungeons you've read about in manhwa, the dungeon isn't a dangerous place. It's only dangerous if you enter. If I had to put it in simpler terms, it's kind of like a prison for demon beasts. They can never leave and are stuck there forever. Their are two types of dungeons. Tombs are dungeons that can be cleared after defeating the boss and the jail cell is a dungeon that can spawn an infinite amount of beasts. Mages uses the jail cell for training. It's completely safe outside so even civilians can walk near it.

"Can I know the purpose of doing this," I asked. "We want to know how well everyone's teamwork is."

"Of course, there will be a maximum of three to a team," Katsumi added.

Having three to a team is actually well balanced. Having too much people would lead to loopholes in teamwork and having to little will cause the team to be overwhelmed. Of course, Hikaru was on my team and I was going to ask Hiromi however, she was crowded by everyone. I mean it's understandable after all, she is technically the strongest one here. She bolted pass everyone and ended up in front of my desk. I wasn't surprised I mean after all, we are her only friends.

"You're fine with me being on your team right," Hiromi asked. "Well, that depends."

Hiromi slammed her hands upon my table.

"Oh, and what's the deciding factor," Hiromi questioned. "It's just a joke did you have to slam my desk!"

"Of course I had to. Why did you even make the joke in the first place," Hiromi beseeched.

"Only an idiot would say no if you asked them," I retaliated. "I don't want to hear that from a dense person like you!"

"What did you say," I questioned. "Don't tell me you're deaf now."

Hikaru was just sitting peacefully on his desk minding his own business. We continued arguing and everyone couldn't help but feel that we shouldn't be on the same team. One minds his own business while the other two argues all the time. They're not wrong for thinking like that. Before the situation could escalate, Ms. Katsumi put an end to the situation. She dragged us both by the ear as we headed towards the dungeon. Upon arriving both of our ears were bright red from the pain. Naturally, we were silently cursing at each other.

"Okay everyone, please remember to attach the camera to your shirt. After you have completed that you may enter," Katsumi said loudly.

Since it's basically impossible for a single teacher to watch an entire class at the same time, we have camera's to video record our teamwork. It's smart considering that she can't even enter the dungeon with us. Ms. Katsumi doesn't want to waste time watch over students when she can just watch the video. That sly woman is scary sometimes.

"Okay, Hiromi, Hikaru, are you ready," I asked.

"Why are you talking like you're the captain," Hiromi questioned. "What?"

"Don't play dumb, do you really think you're going to take that role from me," Hiromi stated. "I never once said I wanted the role you idoit."

"That's enough you two," Hikaru demanded.

"Stop arguing every second god dammit," Hikaru said loudly. "If you guys are going to act like that then I will take the leader role."

We both started arguing and agreed that there would be no leader and we would just do what we want. I could already see the misfortune that's going to happen. We headed inside the dungeon not knowing what awaits us inside.

An hour has passed and our teamwork is surprisingly good. It would be a lot better if Hiromi doesn't constantly argue with me but that's fine. We traveled deeper into the dungeon which is completely stupid. This dungeon is a jail cell so there is no point in going deeper. However, Hiromi wanted to "explore" more. We didn't even have a say and was forced to follow her.

"Why the hell do we have to go deeper," I questioned. "Why not?"

"Maybe because there's no point in doing so," Hikaru stated.

"Come on it will be fun besides, it's a low level dungeon," Hiromi responded.

Naturally there level's for dungeons. The lowest level dungeon, which is the dungeon we are currently in is E rank. The harder the dungeon is, the higher the ranking is. The highest level dungeon that has ever been recorded is S rank. There has only been one so far, however, more dangerous dungeons have been appearing.

"Hiromi you know dungeons have been getting worse this past month," I said.

"I agree with Hiroto," Hikaru pleaded.

"Fine lets head back you cowards," Hiromi said, giving up. "Yeah, you won't be calling us cowards if we end up dead."

"You just had to add that sentence didn't you Hiroto," Hiromi said furiously.

Before the situation could escalate Hikaru slammed his hand on the wall and started yelling.

"That's enough! The point of this is to work on teamwork not too argue," Hikaru yelled.

"You two are unbelievable you know that," Hikaru said while sighing.

Suddenly the stone wall that Hikaru punched was actually a button that made the floor beneath me crumble. I was a good distance away from them and it seems that it's a trap for those behind the person that pushes the button. As soon as I started falling I could tell Hikaru and Hiromi's heart sank. Hiromi dashed towards me and was able to grab my hand.

"Hiroto, hold on," Hiromi yelled.

She started to pull me up but it seems whatever is down there grabbed my foot.

"Hiromi pull him up already," Hikaru shouted.

"She can't something is pulling me downwards," I answered.

"Hikaru help me," Hiromi demanded. "Okay!"

They both tried helping me up but it's futile. At this rate all three of us are going to go down and that's not ideal.

"Hikaru, Hiromi, let me go," I demanded. "What? and leave you here to die? Not happening!"

"One dying is better than all of us," I shouted. "Don't say crap like that Hiroto!"

"This isn't going to get anywhere," I thought.

"Sorry Hikaru and Hiromi however, this is for the best," I told myself.

I used my other foot and pushed myself off the wall.

"Hikaru, Hiromi, don't worry I won't die until I complete my promise," I yelled.

I crashed hard on the floor and upon opening my eyes, it was completely dark. There was no sound, no light, and most of all, no teammates. Suddenly torches started being lit and it was showing me a path to follow. The fire seemed quite unique. It's a bright purple that looked absolutely breath taking. I would touch the fire if it wouldn't burn my hand off. Since this place is obviously suspicious, I decided to use mana sense.

Mana sense is a technique where you emit mana through the ground or out your body. When your mana touches an object you will immediately know where it is even if it's out of your vision. It's usually used for scouting and not fighting. Since it requires all of your attention to use this, it is useless in battle. You can't use this and fight at the same time because if you could, you're not human.

I followed the path until I ended up in front of a gate. A gate so huge that I look like a shrimp in front of it. I've always wondered but why is everything about demon beasts so abnormally huge? Mana is quite unique, if someone has too much mana they die. However, if someone has to little, they also die. Although, the demon beasts could continuously launch attacks without worrying about mana. Is this just the difference between us? What is the source of their power? If I could have that power, can I achieve what I want? Yeah, power, power, power, I need more power.

I suddenly slapped my face super hard. What the hell was I thinking about? Am I becoming power hungry to the point where I'm begging for it? Don't mess with me, if I'm going to win it's going to be with my power and my power only. That's right, don't fall off the right pass and end up like them. I took in a deep breath and exhaled it out. I laid my hands upon the gate and started pushing it forwards. The room was also completely dark and like an idiot, I walked in. I mean come on, I didn't really had a choice. Say what you want people.

Again, torches started being lit all fire throughout the room. The door behind me was shut and looking towards the sky I realized I'm fucked. A skeleton that was wrapped in a purple robe with purple fire filled into his eyes. A staff with a huge mana crystal that is the size of my head. Of course this dungeon had to have a lich laying around, god dammit.

"I'm really unlucky aren't I," I questioned myself.

"How annoying but I don't plan on sitting around," I told myself. "It's suicide of I rush head on."

"Come, let's see who is more unlucky, me or you," I yelled.
