《Hiroto The Cursed Phoenix Mage》Chapter 10: My Pent-up Emotions

I was in the school's infirmary getting treatment for the sudden collapse I had. My breathing was heavy and I was sweating a lot. My friends were worried especially Hikaru. He didn't want something bad happening to his first friend.
"Ms. Katsumi is he alright," Hikaru asked. "Don't worry he's perfectly fine."
"Are you sure he's breathing hard and sweating a lot," Hiromi stated.
"Why did he collapse so sudden," Hikaru asked.
"I'm sure he's fine, and for the reason he collapsed was the drawback from using the Zone," Katsumi responded. "Drawback?"
"Yeah there's a drawback for using the Zone. Due to the fact that you have to use only physical energy, you can't use magic to replenish your stamina. Also, you burn twice the amount of energy because you're pushing past your body's limit," Katsumi explained.
"However, training one's stamina can overcome this barrier. This was probably the first time he used it," Katsumi stated.
The other two was relieved that it was just my fatigue that was low. Everything else was fine so I could probably be discharged soon. However, all of a sudden I started whispering a few words in my sleep.
"What is he whispering," Hiromi asked.
"I see, so that's why he's breathing heavily and sweating," Katsumi said softly.
"Wait, are you saying this is caused from a different matter," Hiromi questioned.
"His master told me this might happen if he overworks himself," Katsumi said.
"Well, are you going to tell us or not," the two asked impatient.
"Yeah yeah, calm down. Right now he's having nightmares about his childhood," Katsumi stated. "Nightmares?"
"He mentioned something about nightmares now that I think about it," Hikaru said.
"He also mentioned that they were getting worse," Hikaru added.
"Actually there is a cause to why it's getting worse," Katsumi exclaimed.
"What, isn't that a bad thing," Hiromi said, worried. "Of course it is, in fact, he might want to quit being a mage if this continues."
"Can you tell us the reason why it's getting worse," Hikaru demanded.
"Hiroto thought the reason why his nightmares were getting better was because he was around his new family but, that was just a very small piece to the whole puzzle. Hiroto's nightmares started getting worse the moment he started using magic. The magic itself isn't the cause to his nightmares but what it does to his body is the problem. When we train our bodies we tend to get a little injured or have major fatigue. Thus, when we go to bed our bodies have a sense a pain. Pain is transmitted to the brain where it is then registered. The information is processed and the pain is perceived. This causes his mental stability to worsen while he sleeps, causing the nightmares to flare up. He was tortured while being in foster homes so even though he didn't use magic, the pain was still there reassuring him that the nightmares will never stop coming no matter what he did. If it wasn't for his current family he probably wouldn't be here today," Katsumi explained.

"If that's the case then, the more injures that is inflicted to his body, the more darker and crueler his nightmare will become," Hiromi stated.
"That's right," Katsumi responded.
"Wait, Hiroto's a very clever person. Something like this should've been easy to figure out," Hiromi stated. "That is probably due to the mental state he's in when he wakes up."
"When awoken, he was many emotions going inside his head. Fear, anger, anxiety, etc. Due to that he can't think straight and he just wants to forget everything he just dreamt," Katsumi replied.
Before Katsumi could continue talking my whispers suddenly turned into loud talking.
"Why, why did you kill my parents," I questioned.
"They did nothing wrong. They just wanted to live peaceful lives," I said loudly. "Why are you torturing me. So what if I don't have magic."
"Please just leave me alone. I just want to be alone without anyone near me," I begged.
"STOP DOING THIS TO ME. EVERYDAY IS The SAME OVER AND OVER AGAIN. WHEN WILL YOU STOP TREATING ME AS YOUR TOOL!"
I woke up sitting straight up. I was trembling with tears running down my face. I lifted up my hands slowly and looked and them. There was blood on them. Why, I just woke up so why is there blood on them? Am I still dreaming about my past? I looked up and stared towards the direction in front of me. There it was, the scene I seen so many times. The scene that makes me go insane every time I dream of it. The scene that makes me want to bite my tongue and die. It's the scene of my parents dying in front of me over and over again. The memory is like a scar, once it's healed your fine but it will always be there. Reminding you of how you got it. I'm tired of this, I need my family right now. They are the only cure to my suffering. I just want to go home and enjoy life with them. What am I even doing here?
When i gave up hope I heard people calling out to me. I saw a bright, shinning light past these dark and cruel memories. What I saw was Ms. Katsumi, Hiromi, and Hikaru calling out to me worried about the event that is currently unfolding in front of them. I wanted to reach out to them however, can I do that? Do I deserve to have people like them around me? I can barely handle my inner demons so eventually I will become a burden. Wait, didn't I promise someone something? Yeah, that's right. I promised Hiroyuki that I will do something he couldn't.
During my training with Hiroyuki we had a conversation about becoming stronger.
"Hiroto, can you promise me something," Hiroyuki asked. "What is the promise?"
"I want you to become the strongest in the world and trespass into the realm of gods," Hiroyuki answered.
"It seems like a challenge, sure I will do it," I agreed.
"However, it seems you had a rough childhood if your idol is a fictional character," I said in a teasing voice. "Vegeta is not my idol!"

"I never once said his name," I continued.
After that sentence I immediately got up and started running.
"Damn you brat get back here," Hiroyuki yelled.
That's right, I need to fulfill the promise. I just need to get escape this dream and think about what I want to do. I created a dagger out of my fire magic and stabbed myself deep into my shoulder. I got back to my senses and I sat on the hospital bed basically life less. My eyes looked so dead that you could confuse me for a dead corpse.
"His eyes are so dead," everyone in the room thought.
"Just how much pain and suffering have you gone through," Hiromi thought.
A nurse came in right away and started treating the wound I had given myself. She would've talked however, looking at my eyes she realized that it's not her place to do such a thing. Even while getting the stitches I didn't move. I laid there showing no pain whatsoever. When everything was finished the nurse left the room and we all were there staying quiet. I was the first to speak which caught everyone by surprise.
"Can I speak with Ms. Katsumi alone," I asked.
Hikaru and Hiromi nodded and left the room. I burred my head into my knees and started talking in a broken voice.
"You know why my dreams are getting worse, right," I questioned. "Yeah."
"Can you please tell me why," I asked.
After explaining the cause to my suffering I was terrified. Are you telling me I have to go through my nightmares every night? Why, do I have to go through such a thing. What did I do so wrong too deserve this? What sin did I do too go through eternal suffering? God, if there is such a thing, please just answer me. ANSWER ME GOD DAMMIT WHY DID YOU MAKE MY LIFE HELL?!
Before I could continue this course of thought, Ms. Katsumi started talking.
"Hey, did you know that your master lived a similar life as you," Katsumi stated.
My eyes widened from shock and confusion. I mean Hiroyuki of all people was weak? Don't mess with me, that's impossible.
"Although he did have magic it was weak. Everyone around him looked at him with pity. Like he was an annoyance by his side that shouldn't be allowed to live. Even his own family started to treat him as an outcast," Katsumi explained.
"He overcame those boundaries and became the strongest by training his hardest. However, there were times when he was on the brink of collapsing. Not from training but from mental stress. I was his friend and seeing him go through those nightmares and slowly lost confidence in himself made me feel a bunch of emotions. Sadness, anger, guilt, etc," Katsumi continued explaining.
"I just wanted the suffering he's going through to end. I thought of everything and decided that I would create a quote for him. When I read out loud my quote, for the first time in a while I seen him show emotions. He cried, smiled, and was happy," Katsumi said proudly.
"Can you tell me what the quote was," I asked. "Sure, if it would make you feel better then I shall do that."
I lifted up my head and Ms. Katsumi immediately hugged me. The warmth she was giving me made me feel at ease. I liked this feeling, the feeling of care.
"When one hides there emotions there not strong for simply hiding it. There strong because they were able to hide it for so long. However, once in a while it's best to let those emotions out. Scream, cry, repent, because if you don't and those emotions do break through, then you will be more broken then you were before," Katsumi said with a soothing and calm voice.
I don't know why but sudden tears flew out my eyes without my permission and I was silently cursing myself.
"Is it really okay to let these emotions run lose," I asked in a shaky, soft voice.
"Yeah, let them all out. I will be here for you and it won't be just me. All of us will be here for you. Hikaru, Hiromi, Hiroyuki, and last but not least, me. We won't abandon you so just let them out," Katsumi said.
I started crying, letting out all my tears onto Katsumi's shoulder. I was crying loudly not caring if everyone could hear me. I was screaming my heart out not caring if people got annoyed by it. I was like that for minutes until I was starting to feel tired and sleepy.
"Ms. Katsumi, thank you, I really needed that," I said before falling asleep.
I feel asleep in Katsumi's grasp and she was relieved I let everything out my system. The other two went entered the room and saw me sleeping peacefully in Ms. Katsumi's arms. I slept for a few more hours and when I was about to wake up I heard Hiromi talking about me.
"How long is he planning to sleep," Hiromi pouted. "You're welcome to go back to your room."
"No I'm waiting until he wakes up," Hiromi declared.
"You know he's cute when he's not being annoying," Hiromi stated. "Oh, now you're calling him cute."
"Another word and you'll regret it," Hiromi said with a death stare. "Sorry."
"Calling me cute is so not like you," I said with a yawn.
"You were up," Hiromi stuttered. "Yeah and it's mean to call your friend annoying."
Hiromi was basically a tomato after being caught and everyone in the room couldn't contain the laughter. The next day we all headed to class not knowing what is happening. People were talking in class waiting for the teacher. When Katsumi entered class she started talking.
"Okay everyone quiet down," Katsumi demanded.
Everyone went silent, awaiting for her response.
"Okay today we will be fighting a low level dungeon," Katsumi said with a smile.
