The conference room in CTU
Jack and George are standing in the room. The Minister of Defense is on the main screen.
"Did you know that I instructed CTU to get the device as soon as they knew where it was?" The defense minister asks.
"Yes, George told me," replies Jack.
"So why didn't you arrest the woman who held the device?"
"Because I followed her," Jack says. "It could have led us to terrorists."
"If you had stopped her we would have had the device and we could have interrogated this woman," says the defense minister. "Now that you've lost her, we have nothing."
"True, but if I didn't lose her, I know that she would lead us to terrorists."
"how do you know?"
The terrorists want the device and in order to get it they need to meet her, "says Jack.
"I agree with Jack, she probably would have led us to terrorists," says George. "But it was still better to go for sure and stop her than take a risk and follow her."
"I think finding the terrorists and stopping them is much more important than getting this device," says Jack.
"Jack, I don't care what you think," says the defense minister. "You had an explicit order from me and you ignored it, next time you will follow my orders, understood?"
"Yes, Mr. Minister," says Jack, walking around the room. "Do you know any more about the Magneton device, except that it was developed at a secret base in the US Army?"
"I tried to find out about this device, but the Ministry of defense has no information about such a thing," says the Defense Minister. "I also checked on this man, Ryan McClane, who stole the device, and there was no information that he was serving in the army."
"Okay," says Jack. "You also have to know that we have found the terrorists' base and in a few minutes a CTU team will get there."
"Good," says the defense minister. "When you get the device, let me know."
"Of course," says Jack.
The minister hangs up and the large central TV screen returns to show the CTU's symbol.
"It looks like he very wants this device," says George.
"Yes, he didn't even ask us to update him about our operation at the base of the terrorists," says Jack. "It sounds like the only thing that interests him is finding the device."
Jack and George leave the room.
Tony goes over to Jack and says: "Gail's team has now arrive to the terrorists' house. They are getting organized and in a few minutes they will enter the house."
"Good," says Jack. "Keep me informed of their progress."
"Oh, and Jack, Chloe was looking for you," says Tony.
Jack walks toward Chloe's work station.
"Chloe, did you want something from me?" Asks Jack.

"Yes," says Chloe. "In the last few minutes that I've been working on the data card, it feels strange and illogical to me."
"What do you mean?"
"After I figured out where the terrorists were, the card started working differently," says Chloe. "It feels like there's no more information to decipher."
Jack looks at Chloe's computer. He sees a document with encrypted letters and says: "There's still a lot of unsolved information here."
"It just looks like that," Chloe says. "The truth is that when I came back from repairing the server, I felt the card was working a little differently."
"What server have you fixed?"
"Server 412, Paul asked me to fix it because he had to work on this server," Chloe says.
"Why does he need this server?" Asks Jack. "We have a lot of servers in CTU."
"He said the job he was doing had to be on this server," Chloe says. "It sounds strange to me, too."
"What was the problem with the server?"
"Just a cable out of one of the server's drives," Chloe answers.
"The cable does not come out of itself."
"Maybe one of the server maintenance workers accidentally moved the cable," says Chloe.
"Have you noticed a suspicious behavior from Paul?" Asks Jack.
"The truth is, he was a little nervous."
"And when you went to fix the server where was he?" Asks Jack.
"I saw that he was standing at my computer before I left the central hall of CTU."
"When did this happen?"
"A little after eight-thirty," Chloe says.
"Well, I'll see what he did at this time," says Jack, pulling out his phone.
He calls the security guard Lenny.
Split screen: Jack in CTU talks to Lenny the security guard that is in the control room.
"Yes, Jack?" Says the security guard.
"Lenny, I need you to find me the recording video taken between eight thirty and eight forty on Chloe's station," Jack says. "And I want you to send it to Chloe's computer."
"Okay, it'll take two minutes," says the security guard.
"Thank you," says Jack, and hangs up.
In the defense minister's office
8:54:46, 8:54:47, 8:54:48, 8:54:49
The defense minister is sitting in his chair. A man in his thirties enters his room. He has short black hair.
"It's been fifteen minutes since we discovered what the device is doing," says the man. I don't understand what you're waiting for? "
"I want you to destroy all the information we have on this device," says the defense minister.
"Why?" Asks the man when he does not understand.
"If we give the information we know about the device, the authorities will find out that I have approved the development of this device," says the defense minister. "And it shouldn't happen."
"But, if we tell the authorities what we know about the device we can help and probably save the life of David Palmer," says the man.
"We can't tell them, this ministry will be harmed if they know I approved this project," says the defense minister.

"But the life of David Palmer, who is running for president, is in danger," says the man. "We can't hide from them vital information that could thwart the attempt to assassinate him."
"Look, I met a year ago with Ryan and I approved the project in order to use this device against our enemies, not for him to steal it and sell it to someone who will use it against us," says the defense minister. "But the problem is that for the media it doesn't matter my intentions, but the fact that I approved the project, they will accuse me of taking someone to work on this project and under my nose he managed to steal the device, and if the media will know about my involvement in the project, do you know how much damage it will do to the minister of defense if The terrorists will use this device. we can't allow it. Destroy all the information we have on the device and my involvement with it. "
"Yes, sir," says the man.
"And Cole, we hope that CTU will find the device before the terrorists use it."
"Of course," says Cole and leaves the room.
CTU
"I got the recording," Chloe says, opening the recording file on the computer.
Jack and Chloe look at the recording. They see Chloe sitting in front of the computer.
"Run it," Jack says.
Chloe runs the recording. After a few seconds she stops running and on the recording they see Chloe moving away from her station and Paul standing at her computer. Paul stays standing in the same place and after a few seconds he turns to Chloe's computer. He takes the real data card out of the drive and puts the fake data card in place. He puts the real card into his pocket and walks away.
"Oh My God," Chloe says. "He replaced my data card with a fake one."
"Dammit, that means the terrorists' base is not in the address you received from the card," Jack says in frustration. "I have to warn Gale that he's heading for a trap."
Jack pulls his phone out of his pocket.
Kelly Street Number 6
In the yard of the house are Gale and his team of eight CTU agents, two agents break through the door and enter the house, followed by Gail and the other agents.
Somewhere inside the house
A bomb starts to operate and its counter shows in seconds: 20, 19, 18, 17
In the House
Three agents climb the stairs and the rest walk toward the living room. Gail's phone rings. Gail stops and answers.
"Yes?" Says Gale.
"It's a trap!" Say Jack. "Don't go into the house."
"We're already in the house," says Gale.
"Get out of there right now!" Says Jack.
Gail hangs up and yells to the agents: "It's a trap. Get out of the house!"
Split screen: Gale and the agents are running towards the exit and the bomb shows: 8, 7, 6, 5
Gail leaves the house and immediately follows him five other agents. They run out of the yard.
Somewhere inside the house
The bomb shows: 3, 2, 1
At the entrance to the house
One agent runs out of the house and next to him are the two remaining agents.
The bomb explodes and from all parts of the house comes the explosion wave of the bomb. Most of the windows in the house are shattered. The agent who runs outside the house falls to the floor from the blast.
1. Gail and five agents Running toward the agent who fell to the floor.
2. In the main room are James and Ben. Ben sits at the computer and says: "It's done.".
"Good," says James with a slightly malicious smile.
3. River in the bedroom takes her gun and trigger the it.
4. Jack goes toward Paul's office.
In Paul's office
8:58:17, 8:58:18, 8:58:19, 8:58:20
Paul's office is built of concrete walls and not glass like almost all the other rooms at CTU. Jack enters into Paul's office. His look is angry. Paul gets up and Jack goes quickly towards him. Jack takes his arm and pushes Paul to the wall with his neck. Paul is squeezing into the wall.
"You're a liar," Jack says. "I know you work for the terrorists and you should tell me everything you know."
"I'm not working for the terrorists," Paul says.
"I know you replaced Chloe's data card with a fake data card," says Jack. "You tried to lead us into a trap, you're going to pay for it and if you don't start talking now I'll make sure it's the worst day of your life."
Paul begins to fear and says: "I did it because the terrorists have my family."
"what?" Says Jack.
"They kidnapped my wife and my son, Tommy, and one of the terrorists called me and said he would kill them if I didn't do it," Paul says.
"You should have approached me," Jack says.
"Yes, and what would you do?" Says Paul. "If I turned to you, you would have stopped me and maybe my family would have died."
"It's isn't true! If you had turned to me, I would help you find them," says Jack. "Now bring me the real card."
Paul takes the real card out of his pocket and hands it to Jack.
Jack puts the card in his pocket and says, "The terrorist you're in contact with is supposed to call you soon?"
"Maybe, I don't know," Paul replies.
Jack takes out the phone and calls Chloe.
"Yes, Jack?" Says Chloe.
"I want you to come to Paul's office and bring your laptop with you," says Jack.
"Okay," Chloe says, and hangs up.
On the third floor of the old building
James walks In the corridor. He takes out his phone and calls.
"Foster, is it done?" Asks from the other side a voice with a slight Ukrainian accent.
"Yes, Paul managed to change the cards and lead CTU into our trap," says James.
"Good," says the voice.
"And about Paul's family," says James. "How am I supposed to continue?"
"Do what we agreed," says the voice.
James hangs up.

Small Chests Are Fine Too
It is an undeniable fact that good things come in small packages. More often than not, it is necessary to trim the fat in order to bring what really matters to the forefront. Having extra bulk may seem like a good idea, but in reality it is merely a crutch that will one day become a hindrance, as it is no substitute for personality nor ability. Indeed, often times it is the small things in life that brighten up our daily lives and constantly remind us exactly why we do the things we do. However, it is important to keep an open mind, for while bigger is not always better, there are also times when it is. This holds especially true when it comes to hopes and dreams, which have been known to require a suitably large container from time to time. And while dreaming big could potentially lead to massive dissapointment, one will never truly reach fulfilment if they think too small. A truth that one small woman with meager aspirations is about to find out. DISCLAIMER: This is a spin-off/side story of my main series, Everybody Loves Large Chests, which is also mandatory reading to understand this one. It runs parallel to the main plot, branching off from the chapter titled Upheaval 2, so there will be spoilers for anyone who hasn't reached that point.
