Silver Sky
Chapter 1
Great heavenly palaces once glowing with divine might now dim and broken floated amongst the clouds. The shattered remains of countless warriors lay upon the countless palaces. Above the palaces and dead warriors was a colossal gate that seemed to stand outside of space and time. On that peerless gate was a shallow gash. Below the gate stood a fatally wounded man. The man’s body was in tatters and he stood staring at the gate his gaze filled with a endless hatred.
"I'm sorry master! I have failed to live up to your expectations! I'm sorry my brothers and sisters for leaving you behind! I'm sorry my blade for falling here when I promised we would slay the very heavens! I'm sorry Nuia foe failing to reunite with you at the final step!" The man wailed with regret. With the last words spoken he closed his eyes as his soul began to dissipate. Before his soul vanished time, space, and even reality itself came to a complete stop. Suddenly a young woman appeared out of thin air.
"Ah, my poor stupid disciple," The woman said in an exasperated tone. "You think apologizing will get you off the hook!" The woman said as she walked over and stood over the man's body. She waives he her hand causing the body to turn to ash leaving A glimmering blade and a wisp of soul. "Father! I have a request!" The woman yelled followed by silence. "Father! Answer me!" She nearly screamed. A low sigh came from every direction.
"Little one it is against the heavenly laws to do what you ask," A calm deep voice sounded out.
"What kind of nonsense are you spouting? You made the heavenly laws you greedy old man!" She sneered.

"Now is that the way to talk to your father! Especially when asking for a favor!" The ethereal voice sounded out.
"Do I need to to get mother and my aunties to talk some sense into you?" The young woman threatened.
"No need for that. Fine, you get your way but I want you to come back home for awhile your mother's misses you," The voice responded in defeat. The young woman smiled amplifying her beauty.
"Heh, I knew you would cave!" The woman gloated before turning back towards the frozen wisp of soul. "This time try not to be so reckless and impatient my dumb little disciple," she murmured before an otherworldly energy enveloped the world. "Shatter space and time turn black to white! Reverse yin and yang break life and death! Surpass the heavenly laws and be reborn!" The woman chanted as she cut her finger and dripped a drop of her blood onto the wisp of soul.
As the blood fused with the soul reality began to warp causing the soul to vanish. Once the soul was gone the woman turned her gaze to the shimmering blade. "Do you want to follow?" She asked the blade. In response, the blade let out a light hum. "Good, it may take many years but you will be reunited with your master that I promise," she swore before turning around and vanishing.

Most people think having powers would be amazing. Not Nate. If he had it his way, he’d never use them and pretend they weren’t there. His powers, though, seem to have other ideas. Uncontrolled powers sound problematic on their own, but when people can destroy entire city blocks with a wayward glance, they become a whole new issue entirely. Nate has always felt like he’s had wary eyes watching him, waiting for him to slip up. So far, he’s managed to just barely keep his head down, but when his powers force him to step into the spotlight, he finds himself caught up in the one life he never wanted; heroism. Now, will he find a way to accept the powers he blames for all his problems, or will he crumble under the pressure? Note: I primarily upload on my website on Sundays . I'll upload here regularly up to a day after the chapters go live on the main site. Vote for aka on TopWebFiction! Feel free to join the aka Discord. If you don't find a way to make six hundred golden claws within the next forty eight hours, your little sister Shale is going to die. Steal the money? You can't break wards, and you don't know anyone who can. Beg for it? You live in Lecliss, the corrupt capital city of Raun. Beggars pave the roads. No one will notice an extra pebble. Earn it? Not through any normal job. You'd be lucky to make even a single golden claw in a week. No. There's only one way to make that kind of money in time. In a corner of the adventurer's guild lit by a dim lantern, three long, dusty, ragged pieces of parchment are pinned to a huge board on the wall. Each piece of parchment has an enormous sum of money written in bold at the top, an illustration in the center, and then countless names of adventurers below, each name written in a different hand, each invariably crossed out with a thin red line. The sign above the board reads: DEATH QUESTS An interactive action/adventure story with game-like and horror elements, set in the same universe as my other story, Gattican Drive.
