《Soul Status (HIATUS)》Chapter 4

Even after a while of staying in the auditorium many people were still outraged and some people were so fed up with this that they just exited out of the auditorium with fuming faces.
I could understand why many people’s reaction would be like this, but as for me I didn’t dare to show the same reaction because when I calmly began to think this through his request actually began to make sense.
After all this school is supposed to be only where talented individuals are supposed to go and not just some place where any individual can go in.
When I thought of it like this I felt ashamed of myself to even think for one second that I a statless person could have a sliver of chance to somehow getting in this school.
But in a short while I got out of this stupor thinking to myself “I can’t have that type of mindset because once I do then that means I have already failed without trying in which that is not an option for me because even if its hopeless I still need to try or else I won’t have a chance!”
When I was having this pep talk to myself it appeared that Dargon’s patience was wearing thin and just out of empty air got a large box in which shortly rings started to fly out of the box.
The rings appeared to fly to the people in here and with due time one of the rings began to fly towards me with rushing speeds and the ring with efficiency just somehow slipped into one of my fingers on an instant. When I looked at the new acquired ring an image appeared in front of me all of a sudden and showed just a big fat “0” on it.
At this occurrence it startled me greatly without no end, but when I looked away from the ring the image in front of me just disappeared and then when I looked at the ring the image again showed up in front of me.
This is where I realized that the image only appeared when looking at the ring and I inferred that this is what were supposed to put the corpses inside of.

“But why does a zero show up when I look at the ring? Mmm… this probably shows how much common magic beast corpse worth is inside this ring, that is really the only thing I can think of.”.
That is what I personally thought in regard to the image with the “0” on it and when I looked around to assess the situation it looked like the people here were still grumbling against Dargon who was just standing still in the podium without saying anything.
I also saw that some people were exiting the place when they got their rings which when I thought about it was the decision that I shall follow suit due to it seeming that staying here wouldn’t do anything.
When I exited out I started to see how much time I had left in which now I only had about 6 hours to finish the entrance exam and seeing this I began to think of ways to defeat that many beasts in that short amount of time.
“I can’t go to a beast area i’m still too weak and even if I could it will still take me a few days to arrive there so I can’t go with that option. Should I just go out in the plains to hunt the beasts that are wandering there? No I can’t do that there won’t be enough beasts for me to kill, plus the other entrance exam candidates will most likely do the same. I can’t think of anything else other than these 2 options, how am I supposed to defeat 300 beasts? Wait a moment… Dargon just said that he needed corpses I don’t have to defeat them necessarily. Let’s change my viewpoint then, where can I find corpses near me that won’t take much of my time? Magic beast corpses usually after extracting their magic core inside of them will rot faster than normal so where are those corpses put in the meantime? The answer that comes into mind is a place that is really easy to dispose in and one that won’t cause much ruckus due to the rot in there in which the most probable location will be on the trash dump of this town. After all it is a place where a lot of trash is dumped in and adding corpses inside won’t really make that much of a difference plus many magicians come to burn that trash monthly according to what I’ve read so adding a pile of corpses wouldn’t hurt them at all instead people could just label that pile of rotten corpses “trash” as well.”

When I logically thought it out I got the town’s map immediately and since I knew where I was I can easily find the location of this town’s trash dump and at this prospect I couldn’t help but to grin to myself.
After running toward the town’s trash dump for a few minutes I had reached to my destination, but the smell here made me want to throw up everything inside my stomach or actually I could already feel my food inside my stomach starting to rise up to my throat.
But I held down this feeling deep inside my stomach and kept prodding forward inside the trash dump to see if there are piles of corpses in here.
While searching everywhere in this nauseating trash dump my efforts were awarded and my eyes brighten up when I saw the huge piles of corpses lined up orderly in which I ran like a dog toward them.
When I came close to the piles the ring began to show some type of reaction as it began to shine an azure color and as I stood in front of the piles I put the ring in front of them in which the ring now was gleaming absorbing the pile of corpses near me like an endless abyss that could never be filled.
Running around for countless minutes to the pile of corpses that I could see and when I was sure enough that I had absorbed all of the piles I stopped running and checked how much worth I had after all of that.
The image appeared in front of me and the number written in front of me was “247” at which I felt outraged at this number due to how many corpses this ring has absorbed.
But the ring did absorb only rotten corpses and not the fresh corpses when you recently defeat a beast so this worth was absolutely accurate if you thought about it.
”Where can I get the rest of the leftover corpse worth? Wait will that uncommon magic beast I met before be enough to reach the specified corpse worth? There is no time to think about this I must act quickly!”
After running with all my might to the soldier’s barracks and explaining the situation of the uncommon beast that shouldn’t be there the soldiers quickly turned serious as I said this.
They sent a soldier that was experienced with teleport and strengthening magic and I of course needed to come with him since he needed my image memory of meeting with the beast to instantly teleport where I met the beast.
The soldier warned me that even though the teleportation may seem instant time will still pass so if the distance was a few days walk most probable one hour and a half will pass in real time.
That wasn’t a problem as I had 4 and a half hours left to finish the entrance exam which gave me some breathing room and I was thankful that what I’ve read was right when they said that soldiers had advance magic transportation.
As I hanged on to the soldiers back I remembered the time where I was lucky enough to escape from that mushroom and as I thought this I felt like my head exploded and the next moment I could see the black cap mushroom was in front of me, but before I could or the mushroom act the soldier next to me moved instantaneous.
The mushroom was cut from all directions with the soldier’s sword which was whistling through the air with overpoweredness.
At this scene I was stupefied and didn’t move a single muscle until the soldier got close to the corpse and took the mushroom’s magic core in which snapped me back to reality as I scurried near the corpse and pointed the ring to it which got absorbed inside.
I looked at the ring to see how much worth I had now and the number that appeared in front of me was “302”.

Synergy
Dear Inspector, Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from being a Player. Hey! Laugh all you want, but I had to try. With no rules down here, who's to say that I can't resign? Anyway, my reasons are simple: I'm neither a gamer nor a hero. You got the wrong person for the job. Sure, the pay is decent and I could pretty much live like a king if, you know, I wasn't so busy trying to survive. I have major concerns about the demonic dagger bound to my soul too. Come to think of it, I've never asked to be transported to this fantasy land either and would like you to return me home, thank you very much. I don't want supernatural powers, I don't want to complete quests after quests, and I don't want to be your test subject anymore. What? I'm not whining, you're whining. Stop making excuses and let me leave already. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope you'll find a better replacement after I'm gone for good. Sincerely,Randel, the Mad Painter What to expect from Synergy: --> Some GameLit elements are presented subversively. If you want the protagonist to “play the game” properly, this might not be the story for you.--> No filler chapters; the story's structure is already plotted out. It's going to have six story arcs.--> Character development happens slowly, over many chapters. Don't expect a perfect protagonist right off the bat.--> Some romance, but it will never be the main focus.--> Humor and dark elements in equal measure, but not to the extent that I’d label this story as “Comedy” or “Grimdark”. ... and lots and lots of Author's Notes.
