[Starts at London, along the side of the Thames. A young Marshall is leant against some railings as people busily walk past, wearing a brown coat and a bow tie. His hair is reasonably short and he has no facial hair. He pulls out a phone from his pocket, an old number-pad Nokia flip phone, and starts to text someone.]
Marshall: [text only] Meet at the train station. Last day today.
[He sends the message and pockets his phone as Alice runs over, looking equally young, now wearing her hair in a ponytail and a blue dress, with white trousers and no shoes. She’s carrying a 99 ice cream, smiling.]
Alice: Sorry, I didn’t have money to get you one and get a train.
Marshall: It’s fine. Day’s nearly over, I’ll get some once we’re home.
[Alice leans against the bars next to Marshall, as “2009” fades onto screen. She takes a lick from her ice cream.]
Alice: I’m gonna miss this.
Marshall: [surprised] Really?
Alice: Yeah, I’ve never seen Big Ben.
[Marshall turns, seeing Big Ben behind him.]
Marshall: Oh yeah.
[He looks forward, looking around the area.]
Marshall: I’m just glad to be going.
[Alice looks at him, scoffing.]
Alice: [giggling] What, you’re sad you met me?
Marshall: No. Never.
[Marshall looks to Alice, who smiles at him.]
Alice: Good boy.
[Alice licks her ice cream again as a loud whistle is heard. They both look forward of them and see the group coming closer. There’s a young Evan and Benny leading the charge, both about 11 years old, with an annoyed Goldberg smoking behind them in his blue coat. Behind him is a man in a green blazer with a top hat on his head, a large jovial smile on his face. Finally there is a man in a purple suit, wearing a cat mask on his face. They all come over, Alice smiling at them.]

Alice: You lot took your time.
Goldberg: Hatter insisted that we take a look at Madame Tussauds, blame him.
[Benny and Evan run over to the railings, looking over. Hatter begins to speak, having a southern accent. He’s clearly enthused by what he’s talking about.]
Hatter: [excited] This time, they were actual wax figures! It’s nice not to have living ones trying to rip your head off.
Alice: Aww, you didn’t invite me?
Marshall: You wouldn’t have liked it.
[Cheshire speaks, having a fading french accent.]
Cheshire: I went only one other time, it is just as boring now.
Marshall: Told you.
[Alice scoffs, punching Cheshire in the arm.]
Alice: Yeah, well, who asked the pussycat for his opinion?
[She quickly snatches the mask off his head, running behind Hatter with it. He immediately grows annoyed.]
Cheshire: [annoyed] Girl, give it back!
Alice: What you wearing it for? Is it cold out?
[Cheshire goes over to her and she grabs Hatter’s hat, throwing it in and then placing it on her own head. Cheshire sighs.]
Alice: [faux-posh] Is milord in need of a hat?
[She gives a lick of her ice cream, giggling. Goldberg goes over to the Tweedles, rolling his eyes. Goldberg moves between the Tweedles and Marshall as Hatter, Alice and Cheshire now have a three way argument involving the hat and the mask.]
Marshall: This is… legitimately annoying.
Goldberg: Yeah well… at least it’s our last day.
[Goldberg turns to Marshall, smiling.]
Goldberg: Retirement.
[He takes the cigarette out his mouth and breathes away the smoke.]
Goldberg: We are Wonderland, no more.
[Goldberg sighs, Marshall looking at Alice.]
Marshall: Any plans?
[Goldberg shrugs.]
Goldberg: Might be fun to teach. You?
[Marshall chuckles.]
Marshall: I got a woman waiting for me.

[Goldberg sighs, throwing his cigarette behind him into the Thames.]
Goldberg: [scoffing] The tale of love… bit mediocre.
Marshall: [disappointed] What, and kids is better?
Goldberg: Depends on your view.
[Hatter moves over to the two, smiling.]
Hatter: Our photographer will be here soon, just so we all know.
[Goldberg and Marshall nod, Hatter immediately turning around and trying to snatch his hat off of Alice. Goldberg chuckles again, pulling out another cigarette.]
Goldberg: Y’know… a twisted part of me is going to miss this.
Marshall: Yeah… I won’t.
[Goldberg looks to Marshall, frowning in disappointment, before lighting his cigarette. A photo flash takes place as it transitions back to present day, with Sissel laying in bed. He’s asleep, but very slowly waking up. He rolls to his side and faces an awake Tracey, still covered in gashes and wearing the black hoodie and jeans that she died in. He slowly opens his eyes and sees her, smiling back.]
Sissel: [groggy] Morning.
Tracey: [happy] Morning.
Sissel: [groggy] Do you not sleep?
Tracey: [happy] No point when you’re dead.
Sissel: [groggy] Fair enough.
[He starts rolling over, but is grabbed by Tracey who pulls him back forward.]
Sissel: [groggy] What?
Tracey: You’ll be late, come on! Get up!
[Sissel groans and sits up. Tracey follows behind him, resting her chin on his shoulder.]
Tracey: Today… I promise… is gonna be a good day.
[Sissel looks across his room into a mirror, seeing it only show him sat up in his bed. He turns to Tracey and smiles at her.]
Sissel: [happy] I know.

I finished the first arc, improved my writing a lot, and learned I want to write from a humanoid perspective. Currently building up chapters for new series.

Tim wakes up to find he is naked and alone in a fantasy world. However, he is not as alone as he first thought. There are other people running around all over the place fighting monsters for a living. Unfortunately for Tim, he seems to be one of those monsters. Desperate for any degree of safety and normalcy he can find, Tim must tread a fine line between freedom and subservience to survive. All while trying to keep alive a trio of adventurers hellbent on becoming legends. However, unfortunately for Tim, he is not the only one from earth to awaken in this world and the other Awakened aren't nearly so benevolent. Warning: The protagonist begins the story quite cowed and meek but progresses into a more assertive and situationally dominant personality. This is partly due to growth, but also a result of the character overcoming initial shock and longstanding depression. If you think I could have handled a segment better, by all means, point it out and provide your reasoning and suggestion. Everyone's experience of depression is different, and Tim's is a close representation of my own, so it won't necessarily 'vibe' with everyone. Chapters are around 15k words and released approx 1/week over the weekend. Has been reduced to around 7.5k to 9k to better fit my schedule.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
