《I want to live》ch. 6 Job

I hear a dissonant sound coming from my right, I reach for the alarm with my right hand and turn it off, it's been three weeks since I began to live with Lynda, I've learned a lot of things but nothing too interesting has happened. I get out of bed and walk to the bathroom. I see myself in the mirror. I’m still getting used to looking at myself. Apart from my hair that now just reaches my shoulders, not much has changed. When I was getting a haircut, the boy who was doing it told me that I would look good with a feminine-like haircut, I just told him to do whatever he liked. In the end, I think it went fine.
“Chrys, I need to use the bathroom!”
I leave the bathroom and Lynda enters in a hurry. I go to the kitchen and begin cooking, today's my turn to make breakfast. I have grown to like cooking, it's very satisfying to see other people enjoy your food. I do a simple meal and prepare the table. I see Lynda coming from the bathroom. She's now in her office uniform.
“Thanks for the meal, Chrys.”
“You're welcome.”
She tries the food and seems satisfied.
“Chrys, how can you be this good at cooking? You just learned to cook.”
“Your food is even better.”
“No, Chrys, mine's not even near yours, you should be the one who always cooks, I'll do all the cleaning.”
“Nope, I still prefer your food.”
I love her food; she has something I can't get enough of. I don't know what though.
“Alright... hey, you should get a job as a chef.”
“It'll be difficult, I haven't studied enough about cooking.”
"Well, today as you search for a job, you may want to concentrate in cooking related ones.”

“You're right, I'll try it.”
We finish our meal; Lynda takes her things and goes out of the apartment. I should get ready too. I put on some nice clothes and grab my phone. I walk outside of the apartment while searching for jobs on the internet.
…
I'm walking to the next place while feeling down. Every place I've been to told me that I need to a school degree but I don't have one, I haven't even been in a school. If no place accepts me, I'll have to do something about the school thing. The next place is a famous restaurant, the advertisement said that they needed some kitchen helpers.
I reach the place, it's a big and fancy place, I approach to the uniformed boy outside the main entrance.
“Hello, I’m here for the job offer.”
“Ah, just go to the back of the building and knock the small white door.”
“Alright, thank you.”
“You're welcome.”
I go to the back of the building through a small passage on the right. I see that white door the boy mentioned. I knock the door and somebody opens it from the other side.
“Hello, are you here for the job offer?”
“Yes”
“Ok, follow me.”
I follow him for some time until we reach a wood door that has a “kitchen” sign in it. When we enter, I see a lot of people working hurriedly. A big man walks in my direction.
“So, why is this handsome face coming to this holy place.”
“He's here for the job offer.”
“Ooh, so you think you're hard enough to work in a place like this.”
“I don't know, but, if I'm not hard enough, I'll just have to try harder.”

“Hahaha, I like your answer, kid. Let's see if you can back up your words.”
“Alright.”
The big man name's Jayle. He taught me all I needed to know as an assistant, after that, he made me help him with lots of things. It was very tiring; I didn't know that cooking could be this hard. He liked my attitude so he hired me. I called Lynda to let her know I got a job and that I had to eat at the restaurant. She congratulated me and told me to take care of myself. We closed the restaurant at 9:00 p.m. and I walked home.
I reach my home; I enter and walk up to the T.V., while changing channels, I stop in a very interesting one. It's about a game called “Dragon's lair”. Ever since I got my smartphone, this game has been popping up everywhere, it's a VR game, you use some type of helmet and it basically transport you to another world, obviously, it's not a real world but it's very similar.
I don't know a lot about this new game but it seems like you can do a lot of things. It has some kind of system in which you level up and get stronger, you can also get a lot of equipment and abilities. If you get something rare you can sell it for a lot of money, in fact you can sell everything for money but only the rare stuff cost a lot. The best thing is that you can only play from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., that's so you can play even if you work, it has some kind of technology that allows you to play for 8 hours straight and making it feel like an entire day has passed, it also puts your mind in some dream like state so it feels like sleeping. It sounds fun, I might give it a try.
Lynda opens the door.
“hello, I'm home.”
“hi.”
She goes to the kitchen, grabs a snack and sits next to me in the couch.
“Hey, how was your day in the office.”
“It was fine, but more importantly, how was your first day working”
“It was hard... but I guess I kinda like it."
"haha, that's good”
"Hey Lynda, do you know this game called “Dragon’s lair”?”
“Yep, it's everywhere.”
“I’ve been thinking about buying it.”
“That's good, you should make some friends there.”
“Don't you wanna buy it too?”
“No thanks, it's not my thing. If you're going to buy it though, you need to open a bank account”
“Ok, tomorrow I'll open one and buy the game.”
“Good luck.”

Wander West, in Shadow
BOOK 1 COMPLETED A young wizard journeys west, through dark forests and dangerous lands, searching for something. Accompanied by a wild witch who has secrets of her own, they come across terrible creatures, hauntings, cursed villages, and memories from their past. Who else will they meet along their journey, and to find what he is looking for, how far will the wizard have to wander west? NOTE: The above synopsis is intentionally written to be as spoiler-free as possible. If you would like a more in-detail synopsis, one that contains minor spoilers, please check out the "Synopsis" chapter at the beginning of this fiction. If you read and enjoy, please leave a rating or review! FORMERLY TITLED: THE GLIMMERLING This story was formerly titled "The Glimmerling", because the first part was a short story of that title; it has since been expanded upon, thus the title change. Chapters 1-8 (30k words) are the first 'arc', if you want to get a feel for the story. To give some context on the setting: Magic is a bit weaker in this story than you might be used to, and we start off following some relatively new magic users. For some perspective, being able to light a campfire with magic is considered relatively advanced for someone who is the age of the main character. Magic can become very powerful - and there are some examples of powerful wizards within this story - but it's not where the main characters are yet. Part of the story is about following them as they learn more about magic. Enemies are also very dangerous, and running, hiding, or trying to talk their way out of a dangerous situation is often a better choice than fighting for the characters. While I have added tags for traumatizing content, sexuality, violence, swearing, etc. I try to avoid super-explicit descriptions of these things. But they are part of the story.

The Desecrator's Tomb - A Numbers Lit-aRPG
A man appears in a dungeon full of undead. He tries to leave. This is my attempt at writing a litrpg where the system is more formalized. This means that there will be a fair amount of min-maxing and we will hopefully be able to calculate the dps of every ability by the time I am done. Expect math. The main character will become a Drain Tank. This story uses an aRPG item and stat system. Oh and one last thing. Beware the penguins. update 1/8/22: I am trying to simulate things as faithfully as is reasonable. As of chapter 17 there are animated gifs depicting Chilly's life throughout encounters. update 1/11/22: Kreksyte drew me a cover! All hail our artist overlords! update 5/25/22: Going on hiatus for a bit. The second arc is complete. Will come back for the 3rd and final arc soon. update 7/15/22: ayy...I've returned. Starting the third and final arc. [was once a participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
