《I want to live》ch. 5 Teacher

“Apart from the light thing, that was my routine all my time in that place, I decided to give them smiles and talk nice to them to make them careless about me, I just had to resist until I had 18 and I break out of that place.”
“Why did you wait until you had 18.”
“I heard from the guards that when you turn 18, you become a man and you have to take care of yourself so I decided to make that the time of my escape.”
“And how did you escape?”
“Whenever I had time, I used to do exercise and paired with the strange experiments, my body became very strong. I was always good to them so they were very careless with me. With that in mind I just got out of my room, killed some of them and ran away from that place.”
“You kill them!?”
“Just some of them.”
She seems a little scared by the fact I killed some people, from what I heard the guards say, it seems that people view death as a sad and scary moment. I like death though. When you die, you don’t have to suffer anymore. Not like I want to die either.
“Well, I won’t judge you for what you did, I don’t even know what I would’ve done in your place so I’ll refrain from making judgements.”
“Thanks.”
“Aren’t you scared that they might come for you?”
“No, I don’t think they’ll come for me, from what I know of those people, they only move if there is profit and coming for me would just make them lose money.”
“Alright, I’ll believe you. For now I’ll help you, as I see you don’t know a lot of things. When I get home from work in the afternoons, I’ll teach you common sense.”

“I would appreciate if you show me to read and write too.”
It may be too greedy from me to ask her for more than what she’s already doing for me.
“You don’t know how to write and read!?”
“Well… if it was for those people, they would prefer if you don’t even know how to talk.”
“Alright, it’s fine, I’ll teach you.”
“Thank you”
“You don’t have to thank me, I won’t do this for free, when you get a little better, you’ll have to work and I’ll take some favors from you.”
“Alright, sounds fair to me.”
My heart feels a little more at ease now that I have where to live and someone to teach me things. She made a little strange face when she talked about the favors but I don’t think she will do something that would hurt me.
Now that I think about it there’s one thing, I don’t know yet.
“Hey, be honest, how bad is my face?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I had never look at myself until this morning and when I did a noticed that my face looked a little different from the ones in other people.”
“And what made you think your face was bad?”
“Everyone was looking at my face way too much.”
“Hahaha, that’s not because your face is bad, in fact, your face is extremely beautiful, that’s why everyone was looking at you.”
“Beautiful...”
I am beautiful? Isn't beautiful used with girls? Maybe not since Lynda said it. I’ll ask her later.
“Hey! Don't get too full of yourself just because your face is beautiful, apart from your hair being too long, you need to have a good personality.”
“Good personality?”

“Yes, if you have a good personality, even if you're ugly outside, people begin to see you as a beautiful person.”
“And what’s a good personality?”
“Being kind, responsible and attentive is part of it, but in general, it’s about treating other people well, just like you want to be treated."
“I got it.”
I think I got what she meant but I don’t quite understand. How can a good personality change the way other people view you? Is it some kind of magic of illusion?
“Well, we’ll continue the class after I show you your room. Since it only has a bed, a desk and a simple closet, you’ll have to buy other things later.”
“Fine... but how much do you think this money is going to last me?”
“Well, it is a lot and it probably can last you some months but that will depend in how much you spend.”
“Ok.”
She brings me to the last room and opens the door. The room is a little bigger than the one I had in the island. It has one small bed, a desk that seems a little used and a thing with two doors that should be the closet she mentioned.
“I can lend you some blankets so you just have to buy all the necessary things for daily care and some clothes, it would also be fine if you get a phone and a computer.”
“What’s that?”
“The first one is like the T.V. but it’s the size of a hand and the other one is somewhere between the two in size.”
“What!? You can make a magic device that small!?”
“It’s not magic, I'll show you later.”
“Fine.”
We walk back to the living room and she continues my classes for some time. I can’t contain my happiness as it’s the first time someone teaches me willingly.
“Well, that’s about it for today. Tomorrow, we’ll see more things. We also need to get you a haircut.”
“Yep, thank you for everything”
“You’re welcome. I’ll go to sleep and you should too, tomorrow will be a long day.”
“Alright”
I walk directly to my bed and I lay down on it. Wow, even though I didn’t do exercise, I feel extremely tired. I can’t stop thinking about what I’ve done today and what I'll do tomorrow.
“Haha, I didn’t know life could be good.”
