《The Stone of Predestination》Prologue

No matter where we come from, or where we’ll go after seizing to exist in this reality, we all carry the Energy within our bodies. It is yet to be explained what exactly is the Energy. Closest to the truth is probably the suggestion that it is leftover universal matter. Or, to put it simply, the one who created the universe had some material left after finishing the job and decided that it would be funny to mix it with the human soul and see what is going to happen. And the result was quite peculiar. In ninety percent of the time, the humans were normal (at least as far normal as a human can be). The remaining then percent? Well, they were not that normal. Somehow, their souls were connected to the main building components of the universe. That is how the masters were born. The Energy inside them was so dense that they acquired certain abilities that were viewed bur the remaining ninety percent of the population as supernatural. Basically, these people could control the four Elements – Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. Rarely, there were also the ones who could rule over the Fifth Element – the Consciousness.

These “supernatural” people naturally didn’t all possess the same powers. Some specialized only in a separate aspect of their Element – ice, sand, wind, hypnosis – and it all depended on the “unique characteristics of the soul” (which is a fancier way to say that they simply did not have enough power to properly control their Element). Amongst the gifted, however, were also the ones who possessed so much Energy that they could bend an Element to their will completely as if it was a child’s play. Such existences were called Supreme Masters.

It is only natural to ask what exactly the occupation of an elemental master is. Their sphere of action is broad, stretching from growing flowers, producing soap bubbles, and healing wounds to maniacal plans for world domination.

Sounds cool? You might think so, but Karil would most likely disagree. Who is this Karil, you ask? Oh, here we have one very interesting story that I definitely have to tell you. I don’t know whether to call it “The extraordinary tale of an ordinary boy” or rather “The ordinary tale of an extraordinary boy”. But enough with formalities. The main point is that at the time our story begins, Karil was just about to start hating the elemental masters deeply and passionately.
