Hello, dear future readers!
Welcome to the world of Karil and The Stone of Predestination. Before you start diving in, there are a few things that I have to clarify.
1. This story is a side-project. My main story still is The Beast and The Swallow. As such, this story does not have a regular update schedule. Which leads us to point 2.
2. The current story is separated into 3 parts. Book 1 is finished, Book 2 is almost finished and Book 3 is not written yet. Unlike "The Beast and The Swallow", I am writing the adventures of Karil and his friends in my native language and translating them into English, so the frequency of posting will depend on my translation speed. And as we are on the topic of translation...
3. Naturally I am much more fluent in my native language and my vocabulary is better. This, unfortunately, puts some hurdles on the way of translation, especially in cases where I use figures of speech or word-plays that could not be translated literally. As always, If you spot some funny-sounding expressions tell me and suggest the correct English phrasings.
4. It is important to mention that, compared to "The Beast and The Swallow" which is definitely PG18, the target demographics of The Stone of Predestination are 11/13 years and up. This also means that there are no sex, gore, or overly explicit violence (O.K. there is violence but not too graphic). Please keep the target demographics in mind when criticizing the complexity of the language used or the style of narration.
5. What can you expect from the story?
- a journey to adulthood
- master-student dynamics (no, not THAT kind of dynamics, we are strictly PG13!)
- action, adventure, and the occasional monster
- clear and intriguing magic system (although I wouldn't really call it magic)

- some (strange) humor
- a bit of romance (come on, my main work here on Royal Road is a romance, so what did you expect), but it is in no way the main focus of the work

Hope you enjoy it. UPDATES AT 3PM EST ON MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS! Warning. The story has a slow start because I'm trying to keep my MC realistic. It takes him some time to adjust to his new surroundings, start to make some friends, and really get into the swing of it. I kind of think it's dumb when an isekai's MC manages to blink twice and suddenly adapts to their new world without any sort of struggle or learning period. So not doing that but don't worry Will may be confused and a bit unfocused at first but he'll grow into his own. Also using it to practice my digital artwork... which is far from par but improving. Keep an eye on author notes for maps and depictions of monsters and characters.

This will be my attempt at a Lovecraftian story. TSODG is a story about a world in pre-modern times and how it is dragged into chaos when a scourge of beasts and madness sweeps the lands. Ayden and his mother must navigate a dark and twisted world as they uncover ancient mysteries and meet interesting people. It will he interesting to see how my Dark eldritch concepts blend with my character driven narratives on a visual level. The taverns edge is a fiction that centers around a pair of unusual friends. A mercenary that happens to be a princess of fae, but prefers to stay in a well-known établissement instead of staying in the Sidhe. Moira. Being half a dragon doesn't really help getting along with snobbish elitists at her mother's court. Like all sidhe she likes to strike a good deal... Which has led into many a disaster... Though she always tends to get by, especially when she gets home to the Tavern on the edge. The mentioned établissement is run by the formidable Barkeeper and jack of all trades Tora, who happens to have a very interesting past. Which involves more than one sinister secret... Now add to the mix a totally clueless elven girl - a mortal, not a fae- on the run. Lunara. She has unknowingly struck a deal with the devil - quite literally. Now unable to handle the consequences on her own she enters the tavern on the edge. An epicenter for magic and the only place where she might find help. She talks Moira into helping her out. A race against time begins as the deal's symbols appear on Lunara's skin. The journey leads to the dwarven empire, the sidhe and wherever the crossing leylines under the tavern may lead. This fiction belongs to the same universe as Ancient Blood. English is not my native language, so please don't be harsh. This story is an adaption of an idea, that we, a friend of mine and me, have developed over a few months while taking a break from learning. Some parts were written by Emberspark.
