《Human & [Inhuman]》Part 1 Chapter 2: Compatible

[Compatible]
Such is the title given to those humans who are sensitive to the world of [Inhumans].
A natural ability of a [Compatible] is to interfere with [Magic].
They can do this by scattering their [Soul Energy], the driving force behind [Magic]
Imagine an orderly ripple on a still lake surface. Then imagine a massive wave crashing down upon it. That is how a [Compatible] interferes with [Magic].
---
“Just because I’m a [Compatible] doesn’t mean that I’m a good choice for you, you know?”
“Oh? Yuu-kun, you know another [Compatible] who you think might fit me better, hmm?”
“No…”
“Ufufu… as I thought.”
“Can’t your parents find you another fiance?”
“Our families have been tied for generations, Yuu-kun. Moreover, I don’t exactly dislike the thought of being with you…”
A blush accompanied the above teasing statement.
Such destructive power…
“After all, a weaker [Inhuman] like me has to be tied to a [Compatible].”
Indeed, the so-called “Goddess of the School” is an [Inhuman].
“Marriage doesn’t have to be a part of that!”
“Yuu-kun, I know this isn’t our first time having this conversation, but you’re still hurting my womanly pride…”
Yuudai averted his gaze.
“Which part of me isn’t to your liking? Do you not like my face? My hairstyle. Perhaps… my boobs? Is Yuu-kun into smaller ones? Are onee-san’s not to your liking?”
Something dangerously soft was now pressing onto his arm…
“Or are you scared of my belly?”
To any observer, this would be a weird question. But to the two of them, this was perfectly understood.
After all, this was Shiori’s [Inhuman] attribute.
The giant, fanged mouth at her lower abdomen.
Normally, this mouth remains invisible: the cloaking effect of an [Inhuman]’s [Illusory Magic]. But when a [Compatible]releases their [Spirit Energy], the cloak dissipates.

Shiori’s [Inhuman] attribute was inherited from her mother. Her father was a [Compatible], just like Yuudai.
Yuudai’s family had always told him that it was best for both a [Compatible] and an [Inhuman] to bond to each other, and had arranged the marriage with Shiori. However, whenever Yuudai asked as to the reasons behind, he had always been ignored. To this day, the reason why such pairings are necessary remains a mystery to him...
---
A few minutes of pointless banter later, they had reached the point where it was time to split ways.
“Yuu-kun, your family members aren’t coming over tonight, right? I’ll be bored alone since Mama and Papa are overseas, so why don’t I come over and cook dinner for you? Or would you like a bath? Or… me?”
“Shiori-san, you’re supposed to say that when a guy comes home, not when you’re proposing to go over to his place.”
“Ara, at least that got a warmer response out of Yuu-kun. ‘Shiori-san’ is an upgrade ufufu~ Any progress is progress. So how about 7 o’clock?”
“About that, I’m going to receive orders from my clan elders tonight.”
“Ah.”
“...”
“Tomorrow.”
“What?”
“Yuu-kun, I mean I’ll come over tomorrow then.”
“Uh… okay?”
“Ufufu~ Well then, good luck tonight, my little ninja.”

8 225Star Wars X Mass Effect
Like the title says, it's a crossover between Star Wars and Mass Effect. I'm using both the Star Wars Legends continuity and my personal playthrough of Mass Effect Trilogy for the story. This is actually my first fan fiction ever, so sorry in advance if chapters feel like summaries or my writing in general is off.
8 121Starlight Antiquities
There is a place in the galaxy that deals in antiquities of all kinds, human and non-human alike. Its inventory of artifacts is colossal as is its inventory of mercs who they hire to acquire any artifact a client may wish that is yet to come into their possession. The ill-reputable business is constantly rubbing against the changing tolerance of the Union's government, and there are many security officers who would love nothing better than to vaporize the whole place with its owners inside. Yet, there are many tasks that nobody can do better, especially in the vastness of deep space where Union law is worth less than the energy needed to display it. One of its jobs involves finding an artifact that may not only hold the future of the human race but may also disturb the balance of the whole galaxy. *** While waiting for the next season of Mandalorian and the Witcher, and rewatching Firefly for the gazillionth of time, I decided to write this space-based series. The series has some litRPG elements in it, but it does not read like one. So, you won't run into any blue screens here. Yet, I wanted to use litRPG to give another dimension to this whole story and make it as unique as possible. This is a work-in-progress. Hope to keep on improving and fixing my mistakes as I go along.

8 207El's Revenge
“Revenge is not for the dead- we, as the living, take revenge to relieve the burden we feel,” I whispered into the air. “Salvation for the people who suffered because of you,” I watched as the city burned in the flames. “Salvation for the people like me, who believed in the proclaimed heroes when in reality they were the devils.” I smiled faintly as the ‘holy land’ of those ‘saints’ was destroyed. I heard rustling sounds as Charlotte came to stand next to me, grabbing my hand. “El, are we the bad guys?” If I was still the same as I was before, I might’ve broken down and started crying. Now, it was different. “A villain is just another victim. They cry and mourn, it’s just that no one heard, leading them into madness. It’s one of the reasons why we know the most, but care the least.” I took a deep breath. “We may be the bad guys in other peoples’ eyes, but in my story, we’re the heroes.” Charlotte took in my words for a while and pondered, before nodding in agreement. “As children, we loved the heroes, as adults we understand the villains.” I looked at her and bonked her on the head, earning an angry glare from her. “Hey! You’re barely an adult yourself you know,” she grumbled. I laughed and ruffled her hair, before countering her. “At least I’m not 12. You can’t even be considered a teenager at that age.” After that, we silently watched the flames ravage the land, before leaving.
