《H(e)aven》Look Who’s The Flatterer Now

Rayne

It had been a couple of days since Alliyah had become her girlfriend, and her sleep had already improved. She was waking up with a smile on her face, which hadn’t happened since… Well, never. It had never happened!

Rayne was having coffee by the window when the doorbell buzzed. A smile graced her face when she saw a little man delivering a huge bouquet of white, blue, and pink asters.

“Thank you, thank you. Have a nice day!”

She beamed before closing the door and letting out a happy sigh. With the bouquet came a note which was written in small and poor handwriting:

Good morning, my love. Meet me at Pnk’s for breakfast around 9:30 <3

“It’s 9:15!” The girl exclaimed out loud.

She hurriedly started getting ready because, Rayne being Rayne, it habitually took at least 45 minutes to be ready to be seen by human beings.

The sun was shining, but as soon as she stepped out she was greeted by a cold breeze that sent a shiver up her spine.

Pnk's wasn't full, maybe because it was still recent. However, there were some customers spread around the large area. She scanned the diner and saw a group of teenagers sitting around a booth.

I thought it only happened in American TV shows.

Her eyes briefly gazed over a man and a woman who appeared to be a romantic couple, then finally, she spotted Alliyah waiting for her at the very last booth of the diner.

She was wearing denim overalls, with a black t-shirt underneath and a red flannel shirt over them. She was looking at the menu, though, when she realized Rayne was arriving, she lifted her eyes, and smiled.

“Sorry, I’m late. I only got the-”

Alliyah interrupted her by getting up and planting a kiss on her cheek, while gently cupping her cheek in her hand. Rayne's stomach fluttered, as she melted into the delightful connection.

“Good morning, gorgeous.” Alliyah greeted before sitting back down.

It was just a cheek kiss… So, why am I sure that I’m blushing, she questioned herself.

“Morning.”

“I didn’t order anything to eat.” Alliyah casually stated, ignoring her flushed state. “But I did ask for a strawberry milkshake.”

“I already had coffee, but I’ll gladly have some raspberry pancakes.” She chose, looking at a menu on the table.

The short, white, blonde waitress - and owner - dressed in all pink, surprised them both by appearing next to them with Alliyah’s milkshake in hand:

“I guess I know your order then, cupcake!” She said in a cheery voice, directly at Rayne. Then turned her gaze to Alliyah. “What about you, cutie?”

“I’ll have your wonderful BLT. But remember-”

“Extra crispy bacon, I know you well by now, ducky.” She winked and left.

Rayne smiled at their interaction, thinking: not only does she love everyone, everyone just loves her too.

The feeling of fingertips grazing her own brought her back to the diner. Alliyah must have been talking and she didn’t hear a thing.

“Sorry. I was distracted.” She admitted, face heating up, as her girlfriend looked at her through half-closed eyes.

“It’s okay.” She gave her that smile, her tongue darting between her slightly gapped teeth. “Anything on your mind?”

“Just you.” Her tone just above a murmur, while she had to look away.

“A smooth talker you turned out to be, uh?” She raised a brow.

“It’s true tho.” She chuckled, resting her head on her knuckles.

“Okay.” Alliyah drummed her fingers on the table. “I did invite you here for a reason, besides wanting to see your dazzling face, of course. A client from my interior designing days invited me - and my beautiful trophy girlfriend - to a Halloween party at her dandy-ass house in Soho.”

Rayne laughed at the usage of the word 'dandy', then commented:

“Look who’s the flatterer now. But sure. I would love to go.”

The waitress brought their orders, whistling a melody, but didn't say a word, and the couple continued conversing.

“Speaking of your interior designing days, what kind of job are you looking for? I was searching - for myself - and found a nearby art gallery looking for people. It’s just a desk job, but after you work there for a while… Perhaps you could pitch them your art. It's superb, Alliyah, you truly are a terrific artist.”
