《The Demon King And The Fifth Hero (악마 왕과 다섯 번째 영웅)》Chapter three: The Bonnacon Of The Wild

Damn this place is scary! After we followed that informer, he took us to the entrance of this forest and left us here saying,
“Here you go! Hope you return back safe! It’s not that far, it will be easy!”
But we have been walking for around half an hour searching for that Bonnacon beast. And we haven’t even found a single trace of it, not even a clue if it really is here. All we have been seeing here in this forest is large bushes and nothing else. even the sunlight is rarely passing through the trees.
“Aww... I knew that this was a bad idea. After walking a long way here, we still ahve been walking for about half an hour”
“Shh.. Listen Kazese-kun! Can you hear something?”
“Hmm.. what do you..”
For a moment I concentrated on the sound that was coming from near by. It sounds like water flowing, No, it’s not only that but it sounds like the flow of water was being disturbed. I wasn’t pretty sure of what I was hearing but it did sound like the flow of water.
“It sounds like... There has to be river near by!”
I was about to rush towards the sound but Aoi stopped me and she looked a bit serious than before.
“We must be careful... It could be the beast”
“Hmm... you are right”
We walk slowly towards the sound and as we walked quietly, the sound got louder. The sound was pretty much coming from behind the large bush we were approaching.
“Shh..” (Aoi looked pretty cautious)
I slowly moved the between the bush and after I was behind the bush, there was a river flowing towards the left. And a little further was an animal drinking water from the river. It was about the same size of a bull and had two horns on it’s head and had two more at its back on it’s shoulders. It still hadn’t realized that we were close.

“Kazese-kun, we better be careful!”
“Right, I don’t want to be stomped and kicked by something huge as that!”
We slowly moved our pace towards it as it was busy drinking the water.
“Hmph!!” (It looked at us! It saw us!)
It looked at us with anger. I had no idea about how it sensed us but it looked angry.
“What do we do now... Aoi?”
“Kazese-kun?”
“Huh”
“Dodge!!”
As soon as she screamed for me to dodge, the beast jumped towards us from the river at the bank. I slide below it’s leg leaving it confused for a second and Aoi jumps backwards aiming her bow at it.
“Arrgh!!” (It cries in pain)
What happened? I couldn’t tell what was going on. Just a second ago it jumped at us and now it’s roaring and crying out loud. I try to find it’s wound and there it was. One of the angry eyes was bleeding with an arrow, but how? The only one using the bow is Aoi here!
Don’t tell me that she pulled that bow and set it out when I was dodged it.... If that’s so then, she is skilled and fast!
“Kazese-kun! It’s half blinded so... finish it by it’s neck!”
By it’s neck? What does she mean? I have heard that animals such as them are weak when attacked on the neck but would it work with something as this beast? Well, I can’t think much, I need to finish this while I have the chance!
Out of nowhere the beast took another jump at me. This is it! This is my chance! I jump towards the beast without thinking much while holding my sword with both my hands.
“The neck! Neck! I..can do this!! Arrrgh!”

I could feel the sword getting light as I was getting close to the beast. The beast’s angered one eye looked at me while opening it’s mouth to bite me. I point the sharp tip of my sword at it’s neck.
It went through! My sword cut through it’s throat like butter! I never used a sword before but somehow my body was moving like it was trained. Is this what they called instinct?
I land on the ground with my left leg kneeling like some swordsman.
“Thud!!”
I could hear a heavy sound like someone falling behind me. Did I get it? Or did it survive and is looking at me for another attack? I turn my head to look at the beast. I did it! The beast was lying on the ground with blood gushing from it’s neck. It was a clean cut!
“Well done, Kazese-kun” (Aoi looked at me and smiled)
“Yah..We did it, Aoi”
The body of the beast faded slowly into some type of white light. The light wasn’t that bright but it was dispersing into thin air. I could see it’s body disappearing leaving it’s four horns behind. It was really out of my imagination that I just had to kill it to get it’s horn while I was thinking that we had to cut the horn ourselves.
“Aoi! Looks like our first quest is completed though it’s only a test”
“Ah, that wasn’t hard, was it?”
We sat down near the bank and laughing about how our expression was while fighting that beast.
“So, That was a Bonnacon..huh”
“Hmm.. they are easy to spot since we have know a bit of knowledge”
“Rustle!.... Rustle!....”
There was a noise behind the bushes again.
“More Bonnacons?” (Aoi looked worried)
“I don’t think taking care of another one will be a problem for us”
Aoi looked at me with a smile and stood up.
“You are right! If it’s another one then...”
Something came out of the bushes. A tall figure! It couldn’t possibly be another Bonnacon judging buy it’s size. Could it be another beast? It was getting a closer to us, the shadow figure.
“Oh? You guys are fine? I came to get you back!”
“Mr. Informer?”
We were relieved at once when we saw him. Actually, we were really exhausted enough to land another hit and we were worried too but that all went away when we saw him.
We returned back to the guild carrying the horns on our back with the informer. We got paid twenty copper coins each for the horns.
“Well, job well done! You will have to come here tomorrow if you want to get your Ids”
“Yes, thank you for helping us”
“No..no.. This is my job. I didn’t help you! You passed the test without loosing something”
“Thanks you”
We exit the guild building and start walking towards the inns.
“Now that we have the money, we can rent a room in the inns”
“Yeah, let’s get some rest... Aoi”

Path of Righteousness
What do you desire? What are you afraid of? You run away from one, pursuing the other. Is that all you are? Conquer your fears. Dig to the bottom and confirm, what you really want... ...For you cannot escape suffering and death. You only have a little time. Use it wisely. Uru, a young boy with no talent for magic or fighting, sets out on a quest to become an avatar of order, the physical embodiment of righteousness, in a distant future, where control of origin energy allows people to defy physics and manipulate causality. Mocked by fate and broken by impossible dreams, all that's left is to stand in defiance to cruel existence. Because there is a Truth out there, somewhere. Singular, transcendent, eternal. What would you sacrifice for it? *** This is a fantastic sci-fi epic. It's going to blend both western and eastern traditional fantasy tropes – like might & magic and cultivation – with rational sci-fi grounded fully in reality, to produce a purely fictional fairy tale. I'd like to deliver something light-hearted and yet wholly serious. An uplifting adventure exploring the unfathomable reaches of humanity, free of indecency, with a healthy dose of humorous banter, legendary beings, and most importantly – lots of exciting, firework-filled mayhem! I've tried reading many web novels, but there's a fundamental problem with them – the eastern ones are annoyingly repetitive, superficial and morally destitute, while western ones are often dark, convoluted and profane. There's only so much one can do to filter out the bad and try to fill in the gaps with their own imagination. It's one thing to eat tasty fast food, but if it's moldy and filled with toxins, then it's not only poisonous, but also disgusting. The appreciation of beauty and higher values is disappearing at an alarming rate. Although there are throngs of talented people out there, none of them are creating what I want to witness – an inspiring battle against impossible odds, ending in absolute victory. A triumph of the spirit so overwhelming, it crushes the spectator into his seat and takes his breath away. I'm looking for a real paragon, so now I'd like to try conceiving one. *** The MC's name comes from Tolkien's Elven dictionary in Silmarillion, 'Uru' meaning 'Fire', and 'Dagnir an Uruloki' meaning 'Slayer of Dragons'. *** Note: I'm neither a native speaker, nor an aficionado of literature – I've never written anything before, and despite proficient English my literary prowess is abysmal. It therefore takes me a painful amount of effort to polish the chapters and bring them up to par. Last year I wrote and posted some on FictionPress, but I stopped since it wasn't going anywhere. The appalling amount of filth and mediocrity being peddled in all the media nowadays – a result of no conspiracy to manipulate the masses, but plain supply and demand – is no longer just the triumph of form over substance, but most worryingly corruption of the latter. Who wants to read about ideals anymore? And yet, masses flock together to gobble up perversion and depravity. That being said, I can't rule out pitiful exposure as the culprit to my failure, so I am now once again trying to increase it here, possibly for the last time. If there are still human beings present, hungry or in need of a detox after eating too much garbage, make yourselves heard, so I can see a reason to continue the story. Otherwise it's pointless – I'm not going to make fodder for the masses, and I'm most certainly not going to throw pearls before swine. I'll simply stop writing altogether.
