《Room Mates (NaLu)》Chapter 30 ~ Operation GaLe
Advertisement
School had dragged out as slow as it could; as usual. Depsite Happy and Charle's better moods in lesson, Sunday had rolled around again, tomorrow indicating the start of a whole new week.
Natsu and I had had a chilled morning just lay in bed together, with the usual Netflix showings whilst eating dry cereal from the bag.
However, it was inevitable that the show would come to an end, along with our food; leaving me and Natsu a little fidgety.
"You know what I've been thinking?" Spoke Natsu as he pulled off the comforter and slipped out of the bed, stretching his arms toward the ceiling, thus creating a perfect view of his abs for my pleasure.
"What?" I replied, peeling my eyes from their point of interest and aligning them with his.
"Levy and Gajeel have been acting weird around each other lately." He pondered aloud, now walking around the bed and plonking himself back on in front of me, cross-legged.
I nodded enthusiastically. I have been noticing the exact same thing.
"I mean, whenever they are around each other they are nervous. They must like each other, right?" He questioned.
"Of course! Well, Levy has told me that she has a crush on Gajeel many times... Has Gajeel ever said anything to you?" I questioned, muting the TV that stood opposite the bed in the process.
"What? No! Boys don't... talk to one each other about that kind of stuff..." He said.
"Hm. I guess girls are more open about that topic..." I mumbled mindfully.
There was a short pause of silence before I jumped up in my seat.
"I know! We should try and get them together!" I squealed excitedly. "They obviously like each other so why not give them a nudge!"
Natsu nodded. "Yeh I guess we could do that.." He replied. "Let's call it Operation GaLe!" He cheered, throwing on his signature grin with a thumbs up.
-
"Damn I hate this place..." I grumbled as I padded through the school corridoors beside Erza.
We both had the same class next, leaving us to walk together from lunch. Natsu and I had filled in the others with the plan, hopefully making it easier to get Gajeel and Levy together.
"Cheer up Lucy. It's not so bad." She smiled. "University is the wonderful place where you become educated to then succeed with great lengths in life~" She sang, dancing around beside me.
"Haha okay Erza..." I laughed. Erza was odd at times.
The pair of us entered the classroom, taking a seat beside eachother whilst we waited for the teacher to come.
"So, how exactly are we going to go about doing this?" Asked Erza as she leaned toward me on her desk.
"Me and Natsu have been thinking about it. Like, if all of us decided to meet up, but none of us actually went, Gajeel and Levy would be left to spend the day together alone." I projected the idea to Erza, hoping she could build it up and make it better.
"That sounds perfect! When are we doing it?!" She beamed excitedly.
"Hopefully this week!" I smiled, getting exited from our mischievous plan.
Eventually the teacher entered, making the class fall into silence to proceed with the class.
-
Now it was Wednesday; the day of action.
All of the group had arranged to go out and meet up at the local park.
Levy flicked on a shy layer of mascara as she sat at her vanity desk quietley. She was really excited to go out with the group again and see her friends. Levy pondered over what they were going to do... maybe just have a long walk together...? have a ice cream..?

With one last layer or makeup, she bounced from her seat to tie up her hair in a bandana. She wandered around her and Erza's empty dorm room to find her shoes and jacket, before grabbing her keys and heading out.
Earlier, Levy had gotten a text from Lucy and Erza to tell her they couldn't go with her because they were out, but they would meet her there. So, Levy happily made her way to the park to meet with the rest.
After a short 20 minute walk, where Levy admired the scenery, sunny weather and calm atmosphere, she made it to the park. The group said they were meeting in the centre where there stood a little cafe, so that's where Levy headed.
The park was beautiful; lush green leaves and blossom littered the ground as they slowly floated from the trees in a sign of spring. Multiple benches peppered the archway of trees that enveloped the path inwards. Levy travelled down the path happily, making her way to her friends for a great day.
"Hey! Hey Gajeel!" Called Levy once she spotted the long black hair of the boy leaning against a tree. He turned around with a confused look plastered on his face. Who had called his name?
Levy waved as she jogged toward him, holding a bright smile. His eyes lit up once he noticed the bluenette heading his way. What a wonderful sight.
"Hey Shrimp!" He puffed as he patted her head once she stopped before him.
"It's Levy you know. I keep telling you." She sighed as she angled her head to look up at his tall figure.
"I know. I know Shrimp." He teased. "Gihi."
After a quick eye roll, Levy took notice at the absence of any other friends as she looked around the open area around her. She scanned between the trees and benches but there was no sight of anyone she knew.
"Have the others not got here yet?" She questioned Gajeel once she had turned back around to him. A frown fell upon his face as he scratched through his hair a little.
"I don't know. I've been here for a good 15 minutes and nobody has came." He replied.
Levy pulled her phone from her back pocket and checked the time.
12:25
They were 25 minutes late. Where were they?
"Maybe they text to say they're late... check the group chat?" Gajeel suggested, pointing towards the whatsapp app that was at the bottom of her homepage. Levy opened the app, swiping through her chats until she reached one named 'Team Fairytail' with a fire emoji. (Natsu's work of course.)
5 messages.
"Have they said anything?" Gajeel asked, as he leaned over Levy and lent an elbow on her head. She blushed a little but contained it as she read.
Sorry guys, I'm not gonna be able to make it... me and Erza were at the shopping centre and an incident happened and we've all been kept behind for questioning... it's very weird >~<"
Gray: Yeh, I'm not gonna be able to make it either... Somethings come up.
Natsu: Me too... Jellal and I got stuck doing... something and aren't gonna make it. Sorry ^-^"
Mira: I've been dragged away by Lisanna too... she guilt tripped me into going out with her since she just moved over and all. Really sorry everyone, maybe we can rearrange for another time?
Erza: Yes, that sounds better.
Levy gasped as she read the messages.
"No one's coming!" She told Gajeel who had been reading over her shoulder anyway. "It's just us."

Gajeel shrugged. "Well, we can still have fun Shrimp."
: Okay guys... T.T
Gajeel and I are already here so we're gonna stay out for a bit. See you all at school.
Levy typed a quick message on the chat before slipping her phone back into her pocket and turning her attention back to the boy before here.
"Well," She piped with a bright smile. "What do you wanna do?"
"Let's take a walk, see what there is 'round here." He suggested, gesturing around the little pathways dotted around the centre area of the park.
Levy quickly chose a pathway, skipping towards it as Gajeel trailed behind.
Together, the pair walked side by side down a wide path lined with trees. Levy smiled as families passed with their children playing together or as an elderly couple sauntered by holding hands... She thought about how she would like a family some day, or to even fall in love... maybe with Ga-
"What you smiling about eh?" Asked Gajeel with a smirk across his face. Levy snapped from her thoughts and looked to him, only for her face to heat up and turn the other way quickly. She faced the trees beside her as she walked a little faster. How embarrasing!
"Nothing!" She said, still blushing a little.
"You couldn't of been thinking of nothing!" He insisted as he grasped her shoulder gently and turned her back towards him, momentarily stopping them in their tracks.
"I... was just thinking about... the trees!" Levy said, blurting out the first thing that came to her head.
"The trees?" Asked Gajeel, unamused and bored already. "You must have such a boring brain... too many books."
Levy 'tsk'd' at his reply and the two continued to walk in a comfortable silence.
Before they knew it, the path had ended and they were stood infront of a large open area once again. Bright lights flashed all around as children ran about holding unreasonable amounts of candyfloss on a sticks.
"It's a carnival!" Levy chimed, grasping Gajeels hand in hers and pulling past the food area and toward the rides. She already felt herself blushing at the hand contact but ignored it and composed herself. She span around to face him, pointing toward a ride behind her that looked like a giant blow up slide.
"Let's go on it!" She said, getting overly excited of all the things around her.
"Come on Levy... this stuffs for kids." Gajeel moaned, noticing all the hyper kids running around the area as their parents ran behind trying not to lose them.
"Don't be a spoil sport. You said we can have fun, so lets."
But before the pair had time to go on, a sign was put up, indicating the ride was full. Full of children. Levy sighed a big sigh, over emphasising her annoyance of Gajeel taking so long. She pouted a little, folding her arms over one another as Gajeel stood by her side.
"Sorry Levy..." He said, feeling a little bad. It seemed she really wanted to go on it. "There's loads of other rides... let's go find one."
This time it was Gajeel who grasped Levy's hand. Their fingers entwined as he pulled her from her mood and turned her frown upside down. After they made it to a section with more rides, the pair slowed down, but never let go of eachothers hand.
"Oooooh!~ what a gorgeous couple!" Called a high pitch voice to the side of Levy and Gajeel. Gajeel turned his head quizzically at the source. "You two!" The voice said, grasping Levy's attention as well this time.
There, to the side of the path stood a large man. His face was powdered white, highly emphasising the neon blue eyeshadow on his lids along with the bright red lipstick across his mouth. Gajeel and Levy stood in shock... 'Gorgeous... couple?!'
"Yes! You both look like the perfect two to go on my ride! You know what? I might even let you have your first ride free, seen as you look so great together!" The man squeaked, gesturing behind him to a giant ride painted pink.
'The couples carriage!' Was the name on the sign above, painted in big, black cursive.
"Uhhhh..." Levy, once again, scorched the colour red as she looked back and forth between Gajeel and the man. "W-were not a couple..." She said quietley. So quietley that it came out as more of a whisper but the man still heard it.
"Oh of course you are! Look at you two! Holding hands, pink as a peach the pair of ya!" He said, not letting up on trying to get a customer on his ride.
As if his words hit bells in the pairs heads, Gajeel and Levy quickly tore their hands apart and deepened the redness across both their faces.
"Now now, don't be shy!" Persisted the man. "Come on, just have one ride. I'm sure deep inside you both want tooo!"
-
Gajeel sat down in the carriage seat with a huff. The ride was unsual; small carriage's with two seats that were carried on tracks through a course that was supposed to 'enhance a couples love for eachother'.
Gajeel rolled his eyes. "Fine. Only because you insisted." He said to Levy with his chin up as she sat down beside him.
"Hey!" She yelled. " I never even asked!"
The pair continued to blush the whole way through the ride as it travelled through dark tunnels, across a built in pink 'Love Lake' and finally ended at an archway made of pink cherry blossoms. As the two crawled out, filled with pure embarrassment, the man who had forced them on the ride was back, insisting they go again. Luckily this time, the pair managed to get away, laughing at the chain of events.
"That ride was... weird." Levy laughed as her and Gajeel started walking in no paticular direction, apart from it being away from the ride they were just on.
"You can say that again." Gajeel agreed, swiping the back of his hand across his forehead as if in a sweat. Levy giggled as she looked up at Gajeel. To be honest, she really enjoying going on it with Gajeel... and somehow it didn't affect his motion sickness - possibly because the carriage moved so slowly.
"Why don't we go get an ice cream? And maybe go somewhere quieter?" Levy then suggested, pointing toward a pathway leading away from the busy, kid-filled carnival.
Gajeel nodded, leading the way.
-
"Hmmmm. There's so many choices to choose from!" Drooled Levy as she stood at the ice cream stall trying to decide. The vast range of flavours infront of her was overwhelming and she couldn't choose between them. "I can't decide between the bubblegum and licorice."
Gajeel looked behind to see the long line of people behind them, some looking a little irritated at how long the pair were taking.
"I know, I'll get one flavour and you get the other. Then you can have some of mine so you can try both." Gajeel said, making Levy's eyes sparkle at the idea. Ice cream was her guilty pleasure, no doubt about it.
"Perfect!" She said, clasping her hands together and ordering from the lady behind the stall that looked too miserable for her job. She handed Levy both ice creams as Gajeel paid and thanked her.
"You didn't have to pay for me Gajeel." Levy smiled, handing him the licorice flavoured cone. "But thankyou."
"I wanted to." He smiled, accepting the cone. "What would this be if I didn't treat the girl to an icecream?"
Levy blushed... What was he insinuating?
'Here," He quickly said as he pointed the icecream towards her. "Try it."
Levy took a huge lick, feeling a little awkward as Gajeel watched.
"Mmm, it's actually really good!" She smiled, before angling her own icecream to Gajeel. "Here, try mine."
Gajeel did the same, trying Levy's ice cream, however the flavour was a little too sweet for him.
"Well I really like it." Levy huffed, taking another licking of her own.
"Uh.. you've got something there." Gajeel said, pointing towards the corner of his mouth with his finger. Levy reached up and wiped her own mouth, only to be on the complete wrong side where the smudge of icecream was.
"Lemme get it." Gajeel said, leaning down towards her before she could react. He reached out his thumb, brushing against the corner of her lip to get away the bright blue ice cream. There was a short moment where he paused, looking into her soft eyes, but he quickly composed himself and gulped. "There." He smiled as he stood back up straight.
Levy was blushing, along with Gajeel. "T-thankyou." She said, looking down at the floor as she continued to eat her icecream.
The two found a place on the grass that was quite empty; no kids, no adults around. They leant their backs against a tree. Gajeel stretching his legs out whereas Levy's were drew against her chest.
"I've had a really great day today." Levy spoke, eating the last bit of her icecream cone before looking up to see Gajeel doing the same.
"Me too, I'm kinda happy the others didn't come." He replied, looking down at her.
"Me too..."
There was a short silence; the whispering of the trees chorused in, taking away complete silence but still allowing the quiet.
"We should do this more." Gajeel spoke up. "Going out just you and me I mean..."
Levy looked back at him.
"Yeh, you're really great to be around." Levy replied, not wanting to sound too desperate even though all she wanted to do was scream from the top of her lungs that she liked him and has for a few months now.
The two smiled at eachother again, before awkwardly turning their heads away and looking at the ground infront of them. Levy wrapped her arms around her drawnt knees and twiddled her fingers around eachother.
"I..." Started Gajeel again, but soon stopped once levy turned to him.
"What?" She asked, staring at him questionabley. Did he look nervous or was it just her imagination?
"I... I was just wondering..." He carried on, before taking a breath and saying:
"Oh screw it."
Before there was any time to react, Levy felt a warm hand across the back of her head, pushing her slightly toward Gajeel as he leaned towards her and planted his lips on hers. Levy's back pressed against the tree as Gajeel pushed towards her, trying to be closer. Her eyes were closed, though she was completley shocked at what was happening - yet somehow, she still managed to kiss him back.
Gajeel tangled his fingers in Levy's hair, pushing her head even closer to his, as if the gap wasn't small enough. Levy's hands travelled across Gajeels chest, going up and up until they reaches his jaw and caressed it. But before she could think, it was all over.
Gajeel parted their lips, panting a little at the deficiency in air intake. His eyes connected with Levy's shocked ones.
"I-I'm sorry..." He said quickly. "I don't know what came over me." He scooched away from levy, taking his hand from her head and pulling it to himself.
"N-no." Levy piped quietley. "Why are you sorry?" Her heart sunk a little. Did he think it was a mistake?
"I didn't ask for your permission..." He trailed, he sounded stupid and he knew it.
Levy laughed. "You don't need permission if that's what you're going to be doing." She smirked, before pulling him in for another.
