《Room Mates (NaLu)》Chapter 29 ~Busted?

Crap.
I snapped my head toward Natsu, my eyes wide with fear due to the anger and spite wrapped around the voice that was booming throughout the room. The person was definitely not a happy bunny and I think I knew why.
Natsu looked back at me with the same expression. The oh-crap-we've-been-busted look; and let me say we were both wearing it well. The rest of the students in the cafeteria stared at us; it wasn't often that something went down with teachers, so this was very interesting for them.
After a long, silent walk to Miss. Charles office, Natsu and I stepped in, residing further inside.
Miss. Charle stomped her way toward us, her eyes targeted on us angrily like a bull in a ring. Happy was walking beside her, looking a little fearful himself but he tried keeping the straightest face he could.
She stopped infront of Natsu and I. We were stood side by side, partly frozen. She whipped out a piece of paper and shoved it infront of her with her arm outstretched.
"So, you're saying Mr. Happy wrote this letter, correct?" She said sternly, not breaking eye contact with either of us.
Natsu and I tried looking anywhere but at her, which was hard due to the close proximity of her face to ours. Happy continued to stand beside her silently.
Natsu gulped.
"Are you two going to answer or stay standing there like fools?" She bellowed. She was far past angry. She was fuming.
"We're sorry miss." I spoke up, wincing at how stupid I sounded. Her head snapped toward me.
"Sorry? Do you not understand how serious this is?" She carried on, gesturing towards the piece of paper with her other hand. "You can't go around writing fake letters about teachers!"
I began to zone out as she continued to rant about how childish and silly the act of impersonating another teacher was. My eyes wandered to the flimsy piece of paper that was flapping around in her hand as she made gesture after gesture to emphasise her point.
Something sparked my attention once I noticed the flashes of green from the paper. My eyebrows furrowed as I squinted my eyes and before I knew it, my hand had reached out of pulled the letter from her hands. Only stopping her from her rant momentarily, before she started a whole new one about the rudeness of snatching from another person.
I continued my zoned out state as I uncrumpled the paper and stared at it with wide eyes.
"Miss." I piped, interrupting her in her tracks. "Miss, we didn't write this."
"We didn't?" Natsu said quietley as he leaned over my shoulder and looked at the green handwriting on the paper. I knew for sure that I had written in black. "We didn't!"

Miss. Charle looked down at the paper before looking back toward me and Natsu.
"Don't try and get out of this now. You handed me this letter in the staff room and I know you two wrote it." She accused.
"I asked Mr. Happy himself, he wrote no such thing. It is not funny to impersonate these kinds of things, expecially when it comes to relationships!" She scolded.
"But Miss-" Natsu started in protest, but was quickly stopped as Happy took a step forward.
"This is final kids." He said sternly, although he avoided eye contact at all costs.
"But-"
"No more buts."
Happy fidgeted a little as he picked up the paper from my hands and folded it ever so neatly into his pocket.
After a few more stern words, we were eventually dismissed and Natsu and I headed toward next lesson - which now, we had missed half of.
"I just don't get it." Vented Natsu as he slung his back pack over his shoulder whilst we walked down the long empty corridors. "Who wrote that letter? And where are ours? She didn't even have them."
"I know it's weird, she didn't even seem to know about the fact we wrote a letter from her to Happy either." I shrugged, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion.
"Happy was acting kinda weird don't you think...?" Natsu questioned.
I nodded slowly, now that I thought about it, he was a little unusual.
"Do you think... Happy wrote the letter Miss had? And maybe kept the other two and didn't tell her... maybe to see how she would react?" I suggested, as we continued to trail slowly.
A smirk crept it's way upon Natsu's lips as he turned to look at me. His eyes held a glint of his usual mischief.
"Let's go ask Happy!" He smirked, grasping my hand and pulling me back in the direction we just came. By now, Happy should have gone back to his own classroom, which was conveniently right oppisite Miss. Charles.
"Natsu no!" I yelled, pulling my arm from his grip and stopping him in his running tracks. "We can just go up to him and ask, he'll just deny it!" I reasoned.
"But if we pressure him he might just pop!" Pleaded Natsu as he gently grasped my hand a second time and tugged on it. "Come on, if what we think is true, then who knows what we can get Happy to do for us!
A small laugh escaped my lips as I allowed Natsu to continue dragging me toward Happy's fate. "Let's just hope we're right..."
-
"W-what!?" Burst Mr. Happy as an exaggerated expression of shock was thrown onto his face. "M-me? Love Miss. Charle?" He choked out an awkward laugh as Natsu and I stood infront of his desk.

"Sir, you obviously have the letters we wrote. She had no idea about the one we wrote from her to you, and she seemed a lot more angry than you were about the whole situation." Natsu explained, as I fiddled with my fingers by his side.
"I-I, I don't know what your guys are talking about! This is ridiculous!" Happy flustered.
"Come on, who wouldn't like a lady like Miss. Charle? She has a really nice personality, she's really pretty." I said, trying to urge Happy into admitting by listing the qualities. He just continued fidgeting and sweating profusely as he shook his head in denial.
"Yep and she seems to like you too!" Added Natsu - The perfect amount of fuel for the flame.
"She does?" Happy's head snapped towards Natsu and his eyes widened a little.
Booyah.
A small smirk creeped between Natsu's lips as he saw Happy's immediate reaction.
"Mhhmm." He nodded. "I heard she reaaally likes you Sir."
"You did?"
"I did too. Do you not see how she acts when she's around you Mr. Happy?" I said, adding a little more to Natsu's words.
Happy was looking back and forth between Natsu and I with wide eyes as he engulfed all of the new information. This must be a lot for him to take in.
"S-so you're saying that she likes me back?" Happy stuttered.
"Aha! So you do like her!" Trust Natsu to ruin the moment.
Happy's eyes, if possible, widened a little more once he had realised what he had said - as if we hadn't noticed that her liking him had sparked a sudden interest in him anyway.
"N-no I just..." He trailed, looking down at his desk.
"It's okay Mr. Happy. We know, it's hard when you like someone and don't know if they like you back. But now you know." I smiled.
"Yeh! And me and Lucy can help you two realise it and get together!" Natsu beamed as his plan came together; Not long from now, their lessons with Happy and Charle should be fish free and finally fun. He smiled.
"I don't know about this." Happy considered, contemplating the possible outcomes surrounding the matter. "I mean, what if you're wrong... and she doesn't like me at all?"
"Don't worry about it. She definitley does." Natsu urged as he padded toward Happy and patted his back. What a suck up.
Eventually, Happy was persuaded. All we needed to do know what think of a way to get the two together.
Natsu and I dragged ourselves around the school as we pondered of what to do. We had barely attended any lessons today, so there was no point in going to our last one that only had half an hour left. Soon, we found ourselves sat outside on a bench beside a tall tree. The sun was shining bright and was beaming down on us both.
"Maybe we could just get Happy to ask her out for a drink and just tell her?" Suggested Natsu as he leaned against the bench and stretched his arms across the back.
"Like Happy would actually go through with that." I scoffed as I crossed a leg over the other and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. "He's way to nervous."
"Well it's not like we can tell her..." Natsu sighed. "How are we gonna do this..?"
-
-
"Okay, so you know what you're doing right Happy?" I asked as I gave him a look up and down as he handed me a nervous thumbs up.
"And you know what to say?" Asked Natsu who stood beside me in Happy's office.
"Y-yep." Happy replied.
School hours were now over and it was time for Happy to make a move. Now, he was ready with combed hair, his suit jacket and a rose that I had sneakily grabbed from the flower patches near the school gardens.
"Go, make us proud!" Said Natsu as he patted Happy's back and urged him through the doorway of his office toward Charle's room.
Happy looked back nervously toward Natsu and I, before pushing on Miss. Charle's classroom door and entering. Me and Natsu stood like parens watching their child take their first steps. As soon as the door shut, we turned to eachother.
"Phew."
"Geez that guy is hard work." I sighed.
"Let's just hope he actually goes through with it." Natsu chuckled.
The pair of us waited in Happy's room as the lengthy minutes passed by painfully. We really were putting in a lot of work just to get teachers to like us...
After what felt like wasteful years of doing nothing, the door of Miss. Charle's classroom clicked open and a happy Happy bounced out. He called a short goodbye back into the room behind him before closing the door and heading back to his own. There was a blatant bounce in his step as he walked, obviously indicating that something had gone well. Along with that, it was evident that a major blush was dusted across his cheeks and he was doing nothing to hide his bright smile.
"So, how did it go?" Asked Natsu who was cheekily sat in Mr. Happy's chair twirling around.
Happy shot him a quick look, telling Natsu not to push it, leaving Natsu to scurry of the chair and pull up a seat beside me at the other end of the desk. Happy sat back in his chair, turning to face us both.
"I got a date with a girl who likes me back."
