《Room Mates (NaLu)》Chapter 19 ~ Accidental Breakthrough

School.
I hated that word.
The murderous beeping of my alarm woke me. The loud noise echoing through my brain over and over. My hand slapped over the little black box that brought me so much dread.
I sighed loudly as I slowly peeled off the bed sheet. The bed sheet previously giving me the well wanted warmth. The cold air hit my bare legs, sending a familiar shiver down my spine; The one I get every morning of school.
I slipped my feet into my slippers, moved Plue off me and shuffled to my closet. Eventually finding a suitable outfit for the day, I headed to the bathroom to wake my sleepy self up.
Soon enough I was walking through the corridoors of university. Levy was bouncing behind me, telling me the latest news between her and Gajeel. I sauntered through the clusters of people, trying to get to the library for some quiet time. Me and Levy were on duty this morning. Library duty was good; We just chat the whole time seen as no one really comes in the mornings.
We entered the library, pushing the big blue door from our path and filing through. We both dragged a bean bag each behind the 'book check in' counter and grabbed a book to keep us company.
"So what's the deal with you and Natsu?" Levy chimed after a few minutes of silent reading.
I looked up from my book.
"What?" I asked, trying to act cool.
"I said, what's the deal with you and Natsu. I've noticed you two being a lot closer recently" Levy said with a smirk, now closing her book and placing it on the table infront of us.
"Nothing. We're roomates so I guess we kinda have to be close." I retaliated with the straightest face I could.
"Lies" She said. "I can sense these things. Are you two dating?" She asked abruptly.
I choked.
How could she guess? We're we that obvious?
"Fine!" I sighed, looking up at her. "Yes. We're dating. But you cant tell anyone!"
Levy cheered, pulling her elbow towards herself in victory.
"I knew it!" She beamed.
By now she'd jumped off her bean bag and was doing a little dance behind the counter. She was singing about how her 'otp was canon' and that she couldn't wait to tell Mira.
"Levy shush!" I shot, grabbing her hand and pulling her back down towards the floor. I looked around the library to see a few people dotted about, heads still in their books.
"You can't tell anyone! Not even Mira!" I told her.

She pouted and nodded sadly.
"How am I supposed to live with this secret? I need to tell someone!?" She squealed. "How long has it been going on? Have you told anyone? How long are you keeping it a secret?" Questions burst from her mouth.
I laughed.
"Levy calm down. It's not that big of a deal" I said.
"Not that big of a deal?" She retorted, eyes widening. "Are you kidding? This is the best news I've ever heard! Tell me!"
"He asked me out the day went to the water park. No one knows except my aunt and uncle... and now you, I guess." I told her, folding up my own book a placing it next to hers.
Levy grinned excitedly, clasping her hands together and looking up to the ceiling.
"I'm so happy right now, you don't even know." She whispered.
"You're a weird child Levy." I replied, tapping her shoulder with my hand in an act of sarcastic sympathy.
"So anyway, have you noticed Gray and Juvia recently?" I asked, wiggling my eyebrows at Levy who was now listening intently.
"I thought I was the only one!" Levy squealed. "They've definitely been acting shady!"
*talking fades off into the distance*
An hour quickly passed and it was time for me and Levy to split our ways. We both had separate lectures to head to and were hurrying as to not be late.
I sat in my seat in the corner of the lecture hall. Another English lecture was due. I took out my laptop and got up my notes. The lecture dragged as Ms. Charle talked about skills and techniques. At one point my laptop turned off and I lost all my work, meaning I had to copy off a guy next to me. It was a tough two hours, but eventually it ended. Ms. Charle dismissed us and all the students scrambled out of the small doorway that definitely needed to be bigger. We piled into the crowded hallways, everyone with their own objective.
Mine: Food.
Sadly I had decided to skip breakfast this morning, leaving my very hungry stomach to suffer through a full two hours of English.
I rushed to the canteen, thanking the universe for making it lunch time. I burst through the doors and hopped into the growing line for food.
Before long, I was sat at our usual table with Levy, Juvia, Mira and Erza; the others had yet to arrive. I savoured my lasagna, taking one slow bite at a time. The usual rumbles of the canteen talk started, giving a relaxing atmosphere. After a while, the boys turned up, going straight to the food line like me and buying their lunches. Together they joined the table, talking about something that had happened in their lesson.

"I can't believe that it's true!" Laughed Gray as he sat down between Juvia and Erza. Jellal agreed, shaking his head with a smile on his face as he sat beside Erza.
"What? What's true?" Asked Levy as Gajeel sat next to her.
"The rumor about Mr.Happy and Ms.Charle" Replied Natsu as he sat beside me, placing his tray on the table.
He leaned towards me, placing a delicate kiss on my cheek and whispering "Hey Babe" in my ear. I smiled at him, before replying but then stopping mid sentence.
The table was silent.
Me and Natsu both slowly turned our heads to see the whole table staring at us in shock. An expression of panic took over both our faces once we had realised what we had done. Levy elbowed me in the side, her face holding a wide smirk. Erza dropped her fork holding the precious strawberry cake that she was in the process of eating. Everyone was staring at us, jaws wide open.
I heard Natsu gulp beside me as I tried to put on a smile that turned out like a painful grin.
"Is no one gonna say anything about this or?" Said Gray, breaking the deafening silence.
"Are you two-? Are you two dating?" Asked Erza slowly.
Me and Natsu nodded shyly.
"I guess you could say that" I replied awkwardly.
The awkwardness in the air became even more awkward as a loud thump was made at the end of the table. Everyone gasped and jumped up to help the now unconcious Mira who lay on the floor next to her chair.
"Is she gonna be okay?"
"What happened?"
"Why did she faint?"
We all started panicking; running around Mira trying to figure out what to do. None of the other students had noticed, nor any members of staff. Jellal and Gajeel helped carry her to the nurses room, where she was placed on a bed and given a wet towel for her head.
We all sat around the bed in the nurses room, waiting for a sign of Mira to wake up. No one had talked about me and Natsu since she fainted, we were all to panicked.
Devious Levy decided to bring up the topic, breaking the silence.
"So, Natsu and Lucy huh." She stated, eyes still on Mira.
I felt my body tense up. I didn't mind my friends knowing, not at all. That just wasn't the way me and Natsu were going to 'break it to them'.
Natsu, who was sat on a chair beside me, leaned over and wrapped an arm around me.
"Yep! Me and Luce!" He chimed, placing yet another faint-causing kiss on my cheek.
Our friends awed at the sight; Juvia clasping her hands together and looking at Gray wishfully.
"So how long have you been dating for?" Asked Erza, looking at Natsu and I.
"Over a week, nearly two." Natsu said, smiling happily. I smiled too, feeling lucky to be with a person who made me so happy.
"NaLu...Canon?" Said a weak voice.
"Mira! You're awake!" Said Juvia, jumping up from her seat and running beside Mira, hugging her tightly.
"What happened?" She dazed, sitting up in the bed and placing her hand on her forehead.
"You fainted when I kissed Lucy and we told you guys we were dating." Stated Natsu confidently.
Mira's eyes widened.
"OH MY GOD LEVY IS THIS TRUE?! I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A DREAM~" Mira squealed, throwing off her blanket and running up to Levy.
Levy jumped off her seat and grabbed Mira's hands.
"YES I KNOW I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT EITHER!" She exclaimed excitedly. The pair started jumping up and down squealing high-pitched things about their 'otp'.
The rest of us tore our gazes away for the crazy duo, getting up from our chairs and putting them away.
"So uh..." Started Jellal. "Let's head to lesson I guess."
With that we quietley left the room. Natsu reached out to hold my hand making me look up at him as we walked down the crowded corridoors.
"Sorry if you weren't ready to tell them yet. I completley forgot. All I could think about was kissing you when I saw you." Natsu whispered, pulling me closer to him by hooking his arm around my waist. "But now I can do this." He said with a smile.
"I'm happy that we ended up telling them. It was hard not being able to be with you properly." I smiled back, walking in his warm grasp.
The day passed quickly. Lessons consisted of our friends shooting me and Natsu with personal questions about are relationship, me getting lots of dirty looks from prissy girls around the school and me and Natsu just talking about what we were going to do tonight. Seen as we both had no lives, we decided Netflix and pizza would be the best call... especially for a Monday.
