i used to call myself fire that could not be put out. i defined my personality in terms of an arbitrary element, unable to be moved. i told myself i could only be with another fire, and together we'd burn everything we touched, but we'd do it together. when i met you, you were earth. you reminded me that fires had a source, that even the wildest fires are grounded. eventually you became water. i learned that fires could be extinguished, that sometimes they had to be, if only for a moment. fires can always come back but when they get out of hand they hurt everyone. a while back you became fire too. and together we burned brightly and fiercely and took over everything together. it was hot. you've since become air. you are in everything, you are are infinite, you surround me, and remind me sometimes i need to breathe. and when i do, i breathe in you because you are my life support. maybe ive changed too, i might not be fire anymore, but i have learned from you that i dont need to be any one thing, because you are anything and everything at once, exactly what you need to be for yourself and others and i love that about you
