Testing fate
Part 10
*Selena's POV*
"One more big push, Sel. You can do it!" Taylor said helping me push through the pain.
I pushed as hard as I possibly could but the pain was becoming too much but I knew the faster and hard I pushed the sooner the pain would be over with
"It's a boy!" The doctor as the sound of a baby crying filled the room.
"A boy?" I asked and the nurses began to clean him off.
"Would you like to hold him?" The nurse asked.
I shook my head and turned my face so I wouldn't regret my choice to give him up.
I didn't even have the courage to pick the parents. I had my adoption councilor pick them out and make sure not to tell me.
"Would you like to name him?"
"Brayden. The new parents can pick the middle name," I whisperer trying to keep the tears at bay.
"Thank you for coming in Ms. Gomez," Sandra said as she shook my hand and took a seat at her desk.
"Thank you for finding out this information on such short notice," I said taking a seat in the chair in front of her desk, placing my handbag on the floor by my feet.
"As I'm sure you know usually with a closed adoption I am not able to tell you where the child is and who has then but this being a special case, I had to. So, also as you know, we were able to get a swab of his DNA at the hospital and we took a swab of yours and had it testing, and I got the results back last night," she explained placing her hands on a manila folder on top of her desk.

I swallows hard as my eyes fell onto the folder. "And?"
She picked up the folder and unfolded the flap before taking out the piece of papers that held my fate.
"You believe that Brayden son of James and Leilah Alexander?" She asked and I nodded making sure they were the same name I heard when we went to the hospital.
"The DNA did match," she said placing the folder.
I inhaled a breath. I was glad that I was right. I knew who my son was but the worst part was I didn't have him with me. He would never call me mommy. He wouldn't ever come to me when he needs someone to hold him.
"Thank you so much," I said shaking her hand and picking up my bag before leaving.
*Justin's POV*
I sat in scooters office being lectured for the last hour.
"You were completely out of line. Why in your right mind would you think that was okay? And then to run out like that," he said for the millionth time.
Right in the middle of him talking my ringer began to play through the office only setting him off more.
I glanced down to turn it off but when I saw Selena's name, I knew u had to answer it.
"Look Scooter I understand but I have to answer this," I said standing up and sliding my finger across the screen to answer it.
"Selena? Are you okay?" I asked as I walked into the hallway of the office building.
"J-Justin can you come over. I need you," she said in a broken voice through the phone causing my heart to fall and shatter on the ground.
"I'm on my way. What's wrong?" I asked in a panic as I raced to my car.

"I'll tell you when you get here," she replied before hanging up the phone leaving me completely lost.
I drove to her house fast but with caution.
I parked my car in her driveway hopping out and walking up to her door knocking on it softly.
When Sel opening the door I could tell that she had been crying she ran right into my arms burying her face in my chest. I automatically wrapped my arms around her pulling her inside and closing the door behind up. I rubbed circles on her back with my hand trying to calm her the best way I could.
“Sel are you going to tell me what’s wrong?” I asked holding her close to me.
She muffled something in my shirt but I wasn’t able to make it out.
“What was that?” I asked as I sat down pulling her to sit on my lap.
She sniffled and wiped her face trying to get herself under control so she could tell me what was going on.
“Brayden,” she said simply.
My eyes grew double in size and my jaw fell limp to the floor.
Brayden? Dead? I just saw him the other day. We were supposed to go to his party the day after. His mother told me he was doing better.
“He died?” I asked as I regained my ability to speak.
Her hand flew to her mouth and she began to rapidly shake her head. “Brayden is your son Justin. That’s our son.”
I stared at her in complete dismay. She must be insane, I thought. There was no way the little boy we met in the hospital was my son, our son. Unless she was talking about someone else.
She must have been able to sense the confusion I was going through because that was when she started to explain.
“After you left, I knew I couldn’t keep the baby. There was no way I would have been able to raise it on my own, not to mention it would have reminded me too much of you. So I dropped off the radar and had the baby low key. Only a few of my closest friends knew. After I had the baby, I was able to name him so I did. Brayden, that was my one request. I never met the adopted parents because I didn’t want to know. I wanted him to go out without ever knowing he was adopted. I wanted him to never have to know about me so the adopted parents didn’t know who I was and I didn’t know who they were. Only the adoption agency knew. When I gave him up I acted as if I got an abortion but it helped with the pain of giving him up. So when I saw him in the hospital, I just knew. I knew that was my son. My flesh and blood. So I went to a PI and had her check and she managed to get a DNA test and it came back positive. Justin, Brayden is our son.”
