Testing Fate
Part 9
*Justin’s POV*
“Please welcome Justin Bieber!” Ellen said as the music began playing.
I pulled up my pants before walking out from backstage and onto the stage as I waved to the screaming crowd.
I hugged her tight before sitting down on the chair and looking out at the crowd waving to them again as I laughed a little.
“You have not been here in forever young man,” she scolded me.
I laughed smiling and nodded. “Yeah, I’ve just been really busy with just getting off of tour and then now I’m working really hard on the album.”
“So, I know you don’t want to talk about this but I have to. Let’s get the rumors in control a little bit,” she said knowing exactly what was coming next.
Before I even had a chance to sigh a picture of Selena and I in the car in front of my house popped up on the screen.
“Let me start by asking you, what’s going on here?” she asked sitting back in her chair.
“Well you see what had happened was I bumped into Selena at an award show and we got talking and she mentioned something about having to go to the children hospital and I asked if I could join so we went to visit the children in the hospital before we went out to lunch together and then she dropped me off at my house,” I explained truthfully.
“Are you together?” she asked not bothering to beat around the bush.
“No we are not together. We are just friends,” I said smiling.
“You heard it here folks. When we come back, Justin will perform. Stick around,” she said as they yelled clear.
During the shout break they set up for me to performance.

As soon as they gave me the signal to go I totally took off on my own, not listening to what Scooter had told me yesterday.
“First I'll acknowledge
Our trust has been broken
A successful recovery
I pray for us at night
Bless me with a second chance
Never thought I'd see your face again
Learned a lot through trial and error
I try to make it right, make it right
Make it right, make it right
It's time to do you right
I'm missing your good intentions
I'm missing you from a distance
Hope you feel the same
I know that I caused a problem
I know that I left you livid, pushed you far away.”
I sang the rest of the song that I had finished writing this morning not caring that Scooter told me not to do exactly what I had just done.
“JUSTIN DREW BIEBER!” He yelled as soon as the camera stopped rolling.
I let out a nervous laugh and a small wave before darting off to be anywhere away from him.
“I told you not to do one thing! And what do you do? You go and do it!" He yelled as he ran after me.
"Look Scoot I know your mad but I had to it. I couldn't keep it bottled up anymore. I'm sorry okay. Gotta go. Bye!" I yelled back as I busted out the side door running to my car.
*Selena's POV*
I got out of my shower and wrapped a towel securely around my body and another on my hair just as the door bell rang.
I hurried down stairs to opened the door with a man standing there with a dozen of my favorite followers: yellow roses.
"Delivery for Ms. Gomez," he said handing me the flowers. I set then on the side table so he could give me the clipboard to sign.

Once he was gone, I turned my attention back to the beautiful flowers and I noticed a card in them.
"I was thinking of you today. I can't wait to see you tonight, Justin," I read aloud smiling at the note.
I held the note close to my chest before I went back upstairs and got ready for the date.
As soon as I slid my dress, my phone began to ring.
"Hello?" I asked as I walked into my closet looking for a purse and shoes.
"Ms. Gomez? This is Sandra Barnes. Do you think maybe you could come to my office first thing tomorrow to discuss what we talked about last time," she said into the phone.
"Yes of course. What time do you open?" I asked stopping what I was doing.
"Go ahead and come in at 7. It's important," she said before we said out goodbyes and hung up. Finally I would be getting the answers I so desperately wanted.
-
"So what have you been doing these last few years?" He asked after our meal was placed in front of us.
"Mostly movies. Spending time with the family. Nothing interesting," I shrugged. "What about you?"
"New album. Tour. The usual," he said smiling at me as we ate.
We talked out our day and how are families were doing before Justin brought up the one subject I wasn't ready for.
"I got a call from Brayden's parents today. They are having like a pool party for him since he's getting out of the hospital tomorrow and they asked if we wanted to come," he said looking up at me.
I swallowed hard trying to keep my composer. "What did you say?"
"I said of course and we would even help set up."
I sighed and looked down at the napkin on my lap. "Justin there's something I need to tell you. I wasn't going to until I found out for sure but-"
"Would you like any dessert?" The waitress said coming over the the table.
"No thank you," I answered losing all confidence I had.
Justin shook his head before turning his attention back on me. "Go on."
"It's not important," I said faking a smile. "What times the party?"

Someday, he’ll find where his family went. Someday, he’ll uphold his end of the bargain and hunt beings powerful beyond anything he’s ever known. Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent

I thought this image was a great fit as a cover.
