《You Saw Right Through Me》Secrets

We left the courtroom.
Kirumi's screams echoed through my ears and her body hitting the ground flashed through my mind. I didn't know what to think. Sure, Kirumi shouldn't have murdered Ryoma, but she had so much on her shoulders... I gripped Gonta's arm tighter as I felt my legs give up on me.
"Y/N." Kokichi held onto my arm, giving me an unreadable look, even to me. "I think there are painkillers in the warehouse."
Ah, so that's what he was thinking about.
"Gonta, you've been quite silent. What's wrong?" He looked at me. "Ah, it's just... even though we in killing game, stars are still pretty." I looked up. They are, aren't they?
"But... they not the stars Gonta remembers." The stars he remembers? I feel like Kaito should've been the one to notice that.
I let go of Gonta's arm and was about to walk away when, "Can I say something?" I turned around and looked at Kokichi. "What do you want to say?" He giggled. "All of you think that I'm a compulsive liar, but there's an even bigger liar in our midst." He turned to Maki.
"Wait, Kokichi, what are you talking about?" I asked.
"Well, Maki, when Ryoma visited you, he had your motive video, right? I'm guessing... he blackmailed you to reveal his." I looked at Kokichi. "What do you mean?" "I mean... Maki isn't who she says she is."
Practically at the speed of light, Maki runs to Kokichi and wraps her hand around his neck. "M-Maki!"
Kokichi let out a struggled laugh. "A-are you... really going to kill me now... Ultimate Assassin?" My eyes widened. Ultimate... what?
Maki lowered Kokichi down and he gasped for air. I knelt down beside him. "Wait, Maki-" But she had already left. "L-Let's just get some sleep." I said as I helped Kokichi up.
"Wait, Mind Reader!" He took my hand and led me to the warehouse of the school. "W-What are you doing?"
He dug into one of the boxes and held up a bottle of painkillers. "See? I told you there were some!" I opened my mouth to say something, but I ended up laughing.
"Well, I guess there are."
"Say ah~" He plopped a painkiller into my mouth and grinned once more. "Hold on, I'll find a water bottle." He looked around, disappearing into the shelves for a few minutes before coming back. "Found one!"
He held it out for me to drink and I gave him a look. "You're acting unusually caring."
"What? No! I'm always a caring, good boy."
I raised a brow, but drank the water anyway. "Goodnight, Kokichi."
I lied in bed. "I guess it's suspicious... but Maki has had so many chances to kill us and she hasn't..." With that thought in mind, I drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, we stopped by Maki's research lab. "Whoa..." I looked around the room. There were guns, knives, training gear, and even a cloak.
I bit my lip. "A-alright, it may look suspicious but-" "See, I told you she was the Ultimate Assassin!" Kokichi interrupted. And he's a totally different person from last night.
"Wait, Kokichi, you know that because you watched the motive video, right?" Shuichi asked.
"What? Oh, I knew this whole time, given my position." Position? "Anyways, Maki's reaction yesterday kind of gives it away." I looked around the room.
"Wait, did she tell us she was the Ultimate Child Caregiver so that she would be able to kill us?" Tsumugi asked.
"But she hasn't killed us yet and she's been given plenty of opportunities to do so." K1-B0 added.
"Geez, a robot doesn't know anything about human feelings, or a girl's heart." I put my hand on Kokichi's shoulder. "Come one, Kokichi. Even humans don't know everything about that."
"The talent of a killer, that is the biggest threat to those who want to survive." Kiyo stated.
"Maybe we should lock her in a room so she doesn't get the chance to do anything." Miu suggested. "I don't think we need-" "I guess you're up Gonta." I looked at Himiko. Is she really agreeing with Miu right now?
"But-" "I'll help too!" I guess nobody will be able to finish their sentences today. Tenko started suggesting ways that we could get Maki into a confined room. "Just leave Maki to me." I looked at Kaito. "Are you sure?" He nodded.
"Okay, then we'll leave it to Kaito!" Kokichi concluded.
Monokuma appeared, startling all of us. "Everyone, behind Gonta!" Gonta yelled. "Since you guys overcame the class trial, I thought I'd give you all a wonderful prize!" Monokuma said.
But, nothing happened. We were all staring at the black and white bear as he stood there, awkwardly. "M-Monokubs, where are you?"
The remaining three Monokubs appeared before us. "Father, we are not going to be your slaves anymore." Monodam said. "From now on, I will be calling the shots."
Excuse me?
"Hah, good one kids... very funny. You can show me where the hidden cameras are now." Monokuma said, nervously. Wait, is this the Monokubs revolting? "Father, you've been doing this for so long, you've become predictable!" Monotoro said. "It's the age of the Monokubs now! Out with the old, in with the new." Wait, what's happening?
"You're just a has-been. Why don't you just retire somewhere and work on your tan?"
Ooh, that's a low blow.
"Good job you two. You memorised my script perfectly." Monodam complimented. The Monokubs went into their exisals and stood in front of us. "W-what the-"
"As the new headmasters, we have some prizes to give you." The Monokubs held up three items: a ninja scroll, a magic key, and a golden hammer.
"We've hidden another flashback light somewhere, too." Monophanie stated. So I guess we have to look for that.
I brought my tote bag with all the items inside and followed Shuichi. "Where are we going?" He told me about a painted on door that he had found before. "Are we going to use the magic key on it?" He nodded. We found the door and Kiyo and Tsumugi were already waiting there.
I pulled out the key, and it surprisingly went into the hole for the door. The door collapsed and revealed another hallway behind it.
"I don't understand how any of this technology works." I admitted. When we went inside, Shuichi suddenly let out a shout. "Are you okay?" He nodded. "S-sorry, I'm not sure what came over me."
The Monokubs appeared before us. "So this is just a made-up story, but a brutal murder supposedly took place here." Supposedly? "If it made-up story, we should be fine." Gonta said. Wait, when did he get here?
I looked around. "Where did Kiyo go?"
I walked down a hall and opened a door. "Oh, is this your research lab, Kiyo?" He nodded. "Wow! It looks like a museum!" Kiyo nodded again.
"It's pure paradise. Not even university labs are so well stocked." I went up the stairs and looked at some of the items. "Where did these even come from?" I went back down and stood in front of a display case with a dog statue. "What's this?"

Kiyo turned and his eyes lit up. "Oh my goodness. I never thought I would ever be able to hold something like this!" From that tone, I don't think he'll explain anything to me.
I walked up to another display case with a seemingly golden katana in it. "This isn't real gold, is it?" I asked. Kiyo shook his head. "It is merely coated in gold leaf. However, katanas such as these used to defeat generals in wars were worshipped as gods in rural areas."
"Ooh! That's a rad looking sword there!" Kokichi said. "Whoa there, Kokichi." I said as I grabbed onto his shirt. "You have to be careful."
But Kiyo looked a bit more... distressed. "Kokichi, that is a priceless relic. If you do anything to damage it, I will tear out your nerves." Kokichi examined the katana and put it back into its sheath and gave it back to Kiyo.
"Ew, my hands are all sticky! That gold leaf comes off really easily!." I took Kokichi's hands. "Here." I took out my handkerchief and wiped off the gold flakes from Kokichi's fingers. "Kokichi, you can't touch things without permission, okay?" He nodded.
"What's this book over here?" Shuichi asked. I looked up and noticed that unlike the other books and scrolls in the lab, this book was in a case. "Could it be?" I looked at the book. "It looks hand-bound. What is it?"
Kiyo had a certain excitement present in his eyes. "This book is a fabled history of the fabled Caged Dog Village, said to have been destroyed years ago. It had a reputation for using many dark arts and spells. The village was destroyed at the hands of a feudal lord who feared their power." I looked at the book. "But how did this survive?"
"The only survivor, a girl, risked her life to write this one book. This must be all her hand-writing. This book is soaked in her bitter-grudge." That seems like a rather... odd reason to be excited about a book. "There were many copies made, so I managed to get my hands on one and memorised the whole thing. But I never thought I would feast my eyes upon the real one."
I was getting a bit disturbed, so I went back to wiping Kokichi's hands. "Ugh, you're right, your hands are all sticky." I said. "Would you like to converse with the dead?"
I turned around and faced Kiyo. "What are you talking about?" He explained that there is a spell called the Caged Child that allows you to speak to the dead. "I'm not really sure I like the sound of that." I said.
We walked out of the lab and stumbled upon a colourful door. "It must be Angie's research lab." I said. Shuichi tried twisting the doorknob, but it didn't open. "Angie?" I knocked on the door.
She came out and opened it, in high spirits as always. "Ya hah! How can I help you?" She invited us in. "Why can only your door lock, Angie?" The Monokubs appeared and explained that Angie must work alone in peace and quiet. "But how do you know that?" Angie asked.
"We know everything about you." Monophanie offered Angie the key, but Monodam stole it and put it in his mouth. "W-what?" The Monokubs had to carry Monodam and left us in the artist research lab.
"That's... a lot of wax." I stated. "Yep! Wax is easiest to use for sculpting!" I looked at Kokichi, who was looking up. "Look at the way the ceiling is." He said. Unlike the other rooms, Angie's ceiling was open, exposing the beams. "The doors also have different locks." Shuichi said.
We left the research lab and explored the newly opened place a little more. We found another room, where Tsumugi and Gonta were investigating.
The moment I stepped foot in the room, however. "Is it just me, or does this room give off an eerie vibe?" Everyone nodded. I felt the floorboard shift. "Is the floor stable?" Gonta shook his head. "Floorboards not screwed down. Floorboards are thick and wide, so Gonta not afraid of falling through."
"All other rooms are the same." Gonta said. I nodded as Shuichi and I left. "I think we should still check the other rooms." I told him. We went into one room and it was exactly the same.
But in the next room, I noticed something that may have been in the other rooms as well. "Shuichi, look." I knelt down in front of a red handwriting on the wall. "'Did you find it'?" I read. Shuichi and I looked at each other, but decided to dismiss it.
We saw Monokuma there. But he was rather silent. "Do you need something?" I asked. He walked away, so we followed him, unsure of where he'd take us. He led us to the hall where the three similar rooms were. "What's this?" I went to the end of the hall and examined a painting.I put my hands on it and realised. "It's glass!" Shuichi handed me the golden hammer and I smashed the window through. I caught a piece of glass before it hit Shuichi's face. "Hm, it was pretty thin."
We went down the hall and found a computer room. "This room is the computer room. But the computers can do things like create new worlds!" Monotaro explained.
"New worlds?" The red bear seemed to have screwed up. The Monokubs left and Shuichi and I examined the room. "Oh, it's the chest we found the other Flashback Light in." I said. I opened it and pulled out an identical Flashback Light to the one we saw before.
We went outside and saw that the exisals had removed more plants. "Shuichi, there's a ninja statue down there." I pulled him down some steps and pulled out the ninja scroll. "Wanna do the honours?"
He put the ninja scroll into place and trees began falling down, and a dojo came out of the ground. "Tenko!" I called out. She ran towards us with Himiko following her. "Ooh, this must be my research lab!" She exclaimed.
"Whoa." I was amazed. Tenko's research lab had different animatronics punching at the air, each of them facing each other.
"Careful!" I grabbed Shuichi's jacket and pulled him towards me. There was a big gap between the platform and the entrance. "We have to go across the suspension bridge." I said. There were suspended platforms all around the dojo.
"Who are you gonna spar with?" I asked Tenko. Suddenly, she took Shuichi's arm and slammed him to the ground.
I kneeled down next to Shuichi. "Are you okay?" He nodded and got up. "Neo-Aikido is a martial art that focuses on a pure heart." Tenko said. "I can see that your self-esteem is a bit low, Shuichi. I can tell when my sparring partner is down."
That was sweet.
"Himiko, if we combine your magic and my Neo-Aikido, we could be super powerful and we'd be able to force the truth out of people!" I take it back then. "I don't know." Himiko said. "It sounds like a lot of- NYEEEEEEHHHH!" Tenko suddenly slammed Himiko to the floor.
I talked to Kokichi and he told everyone to gather in the dining hall because we found the next Flashback Light. "So, you really-" "Where's Kaito and Maki?" I asked.
"Oh, I didn't invite Maki." Kokichi said. So I guess Kaito was with Maki. "Anyways, K1-B0, Miu, we found the Flashback Light in a computer room. Wanna take a look after?"
"Ooh, sounds interesting." Miu said. "Sorry, but I'm not tech savvy." K1-B0 admitted.
"K1-B0, I must ask, what is your Ultimate talent, anyway?" Kiyo asked. K1-B0 claimed that he was a good one-man comedy show. Kaito and Maki soon came in.
"Hey-" "Kaito, why'd you bring her with you?!" Tenko asked in a panicked tone. "It's about the Flashback Light, so everyone should be here."
Kiyo looked down. "Yes, but should this everyone include a professional killer?" I shook my head with a sigh. "Guys, Maki hasn't done anything yet. Just because she's the Ultimate Assassin, doesn't mean she would kill any of us." I saw Maki slightly smile from the side of my eye.
"Let's just get on with the Flashback Light, okay?" I said, cheerfully. "I'm just going to leave." Maki said. "W-wait-" But Maki was already out the door. I sighed and Shuichi turned on the Flashback Light.
"They were so young and talented. How could this happen?" I saw a shrine of everyone.... except me. "It looked like an accident. They were running away from that group." I tried looking for me on the shrine, but I couldn't find it. "Was it really just an accident though? I honestly can't believe that." Wait, what was an accident?
"Ah!" I stumbled back but caught myself. "W-why was I watching... your funerals?" I asked.
"Ah, so we saw the same thing." Kiyo said.
"B-But why wasn't I there?"
Kaito laughed. "This is so stupid, I could laugh. I mean, there's no way that was one of our memories, of our own funeral." I nodded. Maybe it's just a coincidence that I wasn't there.

Toothpick
“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
