She just could not stop staring at him. There he was finally, standing infront of her with his right hand over his chest.A man she had waited for,for as long as she could remember. Her very first love and In Sha Allah her last.

He was wearing a white kanzu that contrasted well with his dark black hair and short beard. As for his eyes, those were the hazel eyes she wanted to get lost in.And he smelled so nice, which cologne did he use again?

Bilal cleared his throat but no,his daughter was in trance.

"Yumnah!" he said a bit sternly.

Yumnah jumped, her hand flying to her chest. She quickly lowered her gaze, her cheeks all flushed.Ya Allah, what had she been doing?

"I think you guys can sit down.Il just be a few metres away but il be listening to everything," said Bilal stressing on "few" and "everything" while looking at Yumnah.

Yasir gratefully sat down but wait, why had there been a long awkward silence?

"How are you?" she asked hoping that she would not get distracted again.

"Alhamdullilah and you?"

"Alhamdullilah," she replied shyly. Were they only going to stick to pleasantries or what?

"You bake really delicious cookies MashAllah. You should open a bakery or something," said Yasir in an attempt to move their conversation forward.

"Really? You like them?I can bake for many other types like..."

Bilal immediately got into a coughing fit.Did Yumnah have plans of killing him today or what?

"I mean i can bake many other types of cookies," she said correcting herself.Wow, so much for not getting distracted again. She had not even lasted a minute.Good going Yumnah.

Yasir hid back his smile.Did she really want to bake for him? There was a funny feeling in his stomach when he thought about it.Is that what they called butterflies?

"Okay.Umm,do you pray five times a day?I am sure you do but i might just as well ask,"said Yasir. Those were the few basics he did not want to leave out.

"I pray all my prayers Alhamdullilah but Isha is usually a trial especially if i have overeaten."

"I can understand.Hisham is like that too.He usually is unable to climb the stairs and then starts complaining as to why my dad didn't get an elevator for the house," said Yasir.

Yumnah let out a laugh and Yasir smiled. He could listen to that laugh all day.

"Dont you have a problem with the fact that i am blind?"

"Not at all," said Yumnah and she didnt even want to start discussing his blindness. She saw him for the normal and amazing person he really was.He was not blind for her.Not at all.

"You know i will never be able to see you right?" he asked.

"I know that."

"I might never compliment you on your looks also. What if i compliment you on a day that you look shabby? Then il just be lying to you and i dont like to lie," he said, though jokingly.

He was sure she was beautiful. Not that it mattered to him anyway. He could already sense that she had a beautiful heart.

"Well in that case Yasir, you will have to be lying all the time, because Yumnah is always shabby...," blurted out Bilal but stopped when his Yumnah sent him a murderous glare.

Bilal cleared his throat once again. He might not have a throat at the end of the day, he thought to himself.

"Sorry, il go get some cookies.Yasir would you like to have some?" he asked as he stood up hurriedly.

"I'd love to have some, uncle," said Yasir.

"Would you have a problem with me wearing a hijab and abaya after marriage?" asked Yumnah. She knew of couples where the husband asked his wife to let go off her hijab soon after the Nikah.

"No, of course not,you can wear whatever you want Yumnah, i wouldnt mind as long as its decent. You can even add on a niqab if you want," he replied immediately.

What sort of question was that even and who even did such hideous things?

"I see."

"Are you mocking me now?"he asked a smile on his face.

"Ya Allah, no no, im so sorry.I did not mean it that way," she replied worriedly but stopped when she saw him goofily smiling.

"Relax.I know you didnt mean it like that.I was just joking."

They sat in amicable silence for a while. It wasn't awkward between them anymore. It was like they were mean to be.A few moments later, Yumnah's father walked in with a plate full of cookies for Yasir.

"Here you go Yasir, please have them all," said her father.

Yasir's joy knew no bounds. On your face 'hitler' he mentally thought.

"Would you like to move into a separate house after marriage or would you be okay living with my parents?"

"Anywhere would be okay as long as i am with you ," said Yumnah and immediately bit her tongue as soon as she realised what she had said.

"Yumnah!" said her father. This girl was going to be the death of him.Wallah...May Allah grant him ease.

Yumnah quickly mouthed him a "sorry".

"I mean i can live anywhere.I dont mind living in your parent's house since i know that you must be more comfortable there," she said.

Yasir nodded. That was quite considerate of her.

They continued asking each other questions amicably, laughing from time to time as well. After a while, Yumnah reached into her abaya's pocket and pulled out a bar of chocolate. She broke the bar into two and placed one half on Yasir's plate.

"Here have some," she said.

"JazakAllah.I love chocolate," said Yasir smiling as a distant memory came flooding back to his mind. That little girl he had met on his first day at school. She had given him chocolate as well and it was even the same type of chocolate as Yumnah's.He wondered where she had gone to.He had never even gotten to know her name.

"Umm so,would you like another meeting considering its almost maghrib time?" asked Yumnah, doubt settling in her heart. What if he said no?

"Most definately.I would love to."

Yumnah turned to look at her dad who sent her a wink in return.

"Okay then.See you soon In Sha Allah," she said standing up and walking towards the door but she then stopped and turned to look at him.

"Yasir?"

"Yeah?" he asked confused.Hadn't she just left without even saying bye?

"I still think that your blindness is totally cool.I found it cool then and i still find it cool now.Asalam aleikum," she said and walked out a large smile playing on her face.

"Waleikum salam," replied Yasir a bit breathlessly.

Bilal watched as Yasir turned red.Wait? What just transpired between the two?

Yasir could not believe it .It couldn't be.Ya Rabb, after all those years? That little girl had been her?

It was Yumnah all along?

When did she say their next meeting was again?
