《Walking With Jesus A Daily Devotional》Day Forty-Eight

Day Forty-Eight.
"For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice."
James 3:16 NIV
Comparison is literally the thief of joy.
In our society today, it's so easy to get caught up in comparing ourselves to others.
We can easily open our phones on Instagram or Facebook and think: "she totally has it all together. She's so skinny and pretty. I wish I was that skinny. She travels so many places, I can barely go to Target by myself." We can spend hours on our phones just comparing our inside feelings to everyone's social media account.
Social media is a LIE!
No one post their bad days. No one post when they haven't showered, been crying for hours, and are still in their pajamas. No one post their bad days.
Social media only shows the highlights of someone's life.
That's why we can't compare our lives to theirs because all we see on social media is the good days and not the bad.
When we are comparing ourselves to others, we are not being grateful and thanking God for what He has blessed us with.
Each and every one of us, have gifts and blessings from God. We all have things to do thankful for.
Instead of spending time looking on social media and wishing we were someone else. Why can't we just find joy and happiness in what God has blessed us with? Why can't we thank God for our gifts and talents?
I am personally not a size two in jeans. I have struggling with my body imagine and weight since I was 13. But now I am focusing on working on myself. I am focusing on losing weight for my health because I have a fatty liver. I have to lose weight. But if I spend all my time looking on Instagram and wishing I was skinnier, I wouldn't be losing weight. Instead I would be feeling sorry for myself.

How to beat comparison:
1. Get off social media!
Social media can be great but if you are using it in an unhealthy way then get off of it! Delete all the social media apps off your phone and focus on God.
2. Be thankful and grateful for what God has blessed you with.
Make a list everyday of ten things you are thankful for today. Change your mindset to focus on what you are thankful for instead of focusing on what you don't have.
3. Change your mindset and focus on God.
Change your mindset to focus on God, what you are thankful for, for your gifts, and your talents. Lift your eyes above your circumstances, above your problems, above your wants, and focus on God.
4. How to focus on God? Read your Bible, pray, and spend time worshiping Him.
The more time you spend with God, the better you will feel, I can promise you that!
Prayer:
Dear God,
I am really struggling with comparison. I pray that as I get off social media, make lists of things I am thankful for, and spend time with you that I stop comparing myself to others. Help me to have joy in who I am and what you have blessed me with. I grab that you grab my hand and help me through this.
I thank you for all my many blessings and for Your Son.
In Jesus's name, I pray, Amen!

# The Gemstone of Ominium 2 - Pain
Her unfazed expression didn’t even waver when the blade of her thin sword pierced one of the men all the way through armor, flesh and bone, a gurgling sound bubbling from his throat. With a kick she mercilessly pushed him back, freeing her blade, and glanced down at his dead body sprawled at her feet, confirming that death had indeed taken him. Stepping over the dead man’s body as if it were a mere pebble on her path, she raised her head just in time to see her second attacker lunge at her and, nimbly turning on her heels, she slit his throat. A spray of hot, sticky blood hit her left cheek and slid down her neck, but she didn’t even blink. The scent of the fresh blood filled her nostrils and her brain like an inebriating drug and she stepped forward once again, lightly turning to one side to avoid being decapitated and quickly returning the favor. One by one the men kept falling as she advanced, victims of her lethal, almost mechanical movements, as if she’d been born with a sword in hand and ready to kill …* This is a direct continuation of Book 1 - Denial. You CANNOT start reading Book 2 without reading Book 1, since the story won't make any sense! Enjoy ^_^*
