《The Empress' Son》CHAPTER FOUR

Years has passed, but the memory of seeing Klydeur in the flesh is still fresh. And wow, that's a rhyme.
As I walked down the stairs, I headed towards the garden, seeing the maids seated on the bench with a tray of cookies. But as soon as they saw me, I quickly approached them.
"Nanny!" I smiled at them, and the look in their faces is priceless. Half dying from my cuteness, half wishing to be in thesame age as mine. "Can Clydeur have some cookies too?"
The first maid, Mia, cooed at me as she reached out to pinch my cheek. "Our handsome prince, you want some of the cookies?"
I nodded with a smile. "Yup! Clydeur loves cookies, just as much as I love Mia!"
Mia cooed and almost melted, before handing me a cookie. But before I can have it, the maid beside her stopped her. "You can't give him too much sweets. You just gave him chocolates earlier."
"But Ria!" Mia pouted at her sister, Ria. "His highness wishes for it."
"But remember what Jamie said, too much sweet is dangerous." Ria countered.
I just boredly stared at them, but then I held Ria's hand, which made her startled. "Nanny, can I have a cookie please?"
Ria gulped. "Apologies, his highness, but I'm not allowed to."
I pouted. "Pleaaaase?"
And just like that, Ria and Mia enjoyed feeding me cookies before wiping my mouth. "Is it delicious, your highness?"
"Yup! Thank you nanny!" I leaned to give both of them a kiss on the cheeks. When I backed away, I saw their faces red like a tomato.
The perks of being cute and handsome as a 5 year old kid.
Time indeed flows like a rushing water. As I predicted, being the cute and charming prince will help me win over the maids. They still like Klydeur since he's like an innocent angel but I'm a different one.

We still meet each others, and he really is happy when I'm around. Sometimes, he'd beg for me to stay with him in his room. Since the maids are there, I acted like a good brother and accepted his request.
And so, I learned, not only my existence did the Empress neglected, but also him.
If she's going to ignore us for the rest of her life, why did she even bother giving birth to the both of us? And speaking of that, where is our father? It can't be the Emperor, I just know it's not him.
As far as my memories here goes, our father is from a noble family. Other than that, I had no other clue where he is but I'm certain that he's long gone. And by the way, his hair color is white. That explains Klydeur's hair color.
"Hyung!" Oh, speaking of the little devil. Turning my head around, I saw him running over to me. His mere presence makes me have a bad day, especially that we wear almost thesame clothes all day, sometimes it differs in color.
Jamie once said that we looked cute that way, and so it ended that way.
"What is it, Klydeur?" I asked, forcing a smile while patting his head. I thought twins should be thesame, but I guess we differ in our height which made me become taller even just an inch.
"Klyde wants to play with Clydeur hyung!" He pouted. "But it seems Clydeur hyung doesn't want to since he's busy."
Ho? I didn't even say anything yet, rascal.
The maids behind us looked towards our direction. "Oh my, Clydeur broke the prince's heart."
"Yeah, he's so cold to not even play with his own brother." Another maid agreed.
"Hey, don't say that." Mia decided to butt in. "His highness still haven't answered. And what's with you calling his highness just by his name?"

"Don't you know that it is included in the law to give respect to them?" Ria retorted. "Save your favoritism for some other day."
"Look whose talking." The other maid countered, before they walked off. Mia and Ria ran towards our direction with a worried look.
"Are both his highness okay?"
Klydeur and I nodded. Why wouldn't we be? Or more like him? I'm the one whose getting badmouthed here, but atleast my nannies are always to the rescue.
"Klydeur here wants to play with me but," looking up at him whose giving me a pleading eyes, I sighed. "Only for an hour, okay?"
"Yey! Thank you Clydeur hyung!"
And there begone.
I spent my precious hour playing with him. It wasn't that bad since I also enjoyed his company. When my time is over, he asked for me to tuck him to bed, and I almost scoffed at him.
What is he, a baby?
But either way, I did as what I was told. Tucking him to bed and waited for him to be asleep before leaving his room.
So, where am I heading again? Obviously, I'm going out for an adventure again. "Your highness!" I flinched as I saw Jamie running over to me. "Your highness!"
"Is something wrong?" I asked, confusion dawned on me as she looks like she was about to say something.
"N-nothing, your highness," Jamie forced a smile. "Does his highness want to go to sleep too?"
I figured out that she's hiding something, but chose not to tell me. Fine, I'll learn about it later. I smiled at her and nodded. She returned the smile as she held my hand and walked towards my room.
"Have a nice sleep, your highness." Jamie said as she kissed my forehead and took her leave. I counted twenty seconds in my mind and after that, I got up from bed and sneaked out of my room.
I silently walked downstairs, and there I saw the maids heading towards my direction. Panicked, I went up back again before hiding behind a huge vase.
"Did you know about the news?" One of the maids whom I don't know the name asked.
"What is it?"
"The Empress massacred the royal family of the Caner!"
Wait, what..?
"It's because they were also planning on killing the Empress and her children." The other maid sighed. "The life of the twins must be so hard, but I never knew the Empress is still concerned."
Maybe concerned for herself only.
"Anyhow, I heard she left her palace and transferred to a nearby palace." The maid told her.
The other maid gasped. "The palace near he-"
"Ssh! Someone might hear you!"
"Apologies!"
And the rest of their conversation fell into deaf ears as they are already walking too far from my hiding spot, but I'm quite confused.
Is that even true?

[Archive] Legend of the Nameless Hero
A WhiteSamurai original Web Novel There are always the mysterious tales of heroes, those who fight against the Demons, who fight for justice and those who head mighty quests against tyranny. Heroes that are born to destiny, Heroes that are forged through tragedy, and Heroes that are brought to the world in times of great peril and strife. Not all true Heroes are wanted or beloved, but all life understands, that throughout all time and space, for those who truly stand as Heroes, they never need to be called one. The sands of time are the only true judge for those who journey upon the true path, the only one they will ever need. This is the tale, no, the Legend, the Legend of the one who throughout all time, would forever be, the First Hero. This is Their story, a story of true hardship, of a sorrow greater than any other that would stand as a symbol of inspiration no matter the test of time. A tale of darkness, a true curse, an impending evil hidden beyond the horizons that threatened the very future of existence. This is the tale, of one of the few great figures, who, in the face of true evil, continued to stand. . . . _______________________________________________________________ :Disclaimer: _______________________________________________________________ . . . All Chapters are subject to sudden revision, scrapping, or complete removal from the canonical storyline. The author of "Legend of the Nameless Hero" uses RoyalRoad as a method of experimentation with genre's and writing styles for Fantasy-style works for the sake of eventual publication. The end result isn't to release perfect chapters on RoyalRoadl, but eventually develop the story as intended using the best material to produce the highest quality work. The best mentality when reading works from WhiteSamurai is to see it as the ability to read and review pre-release transcripts or "Rough Copies" before publication. Viewer discretion and maturity are both requested and required. . . . _______________________________________________________________ :About: _______________________________________________________________ . . . This story follows direct character point of views along with an intentional third person narrative to explain to the readers what the characters won't. (I don't use my characters to go give extensive explanations for every last thing like EVERYTHING DOES) This tale shall encompass the life of the Hero from the moment she is summoned into the Kingdom of Kremor, to the Legendary Final Clash. This isn't your run of the mill hack and slash raise an army and conquer, I don't follow that bandwagon. Real life holds politics, intrigue, economics, structure, populations, civil opinions, history, psychology, heart, suffering, wonder, advancement, curiosity, ambition, and so many more things that would lead to me hitting some character limit. I refuse to take the same route that others use by simply ignoring these factors, my worlds, my stories, are as real as they get. There's no plot armor here, if someone screws up, they've screwed up and there's no magical sword in a well for them. I write in 'Seasons' not 'Books' as many often do, these are generally, not always, hundreds of chapters long, though as I have yet to finish a season, the average length is in the air. I go by an ideal of what I call 'Universal Lore' which includes the policy that things that exist within the story don't follow the rule where the Protagonist needs to be there so that it will happen. There will be some things that will happen, and the hero, and sometimes the reader, won't know happened until they enter a place, or news gets to them. A person needs to be in the right place at the right time, I hate plot holes and meta characters above all else... For my works, comments are practically demanded as reactions, thoughts, and various viewpoints are like sweet fuel to my writing spirit. Reviews are highly accepted and appreciated, BUT ONLY IF THEY ARE EDUCATED AND THOROUGHLY EXPLAINED. Those that throw down a low rating ARE HIGHLY REQUESTED to extensively detail and explain their viewpoints on the work. They should also be willing to come back to the work at a later date if messaged by the Author, Me, due to issues they mentioned being taken care of. I'm never against scrapping a chapter or rewriting several paragraphs if there are character or story discrepancies. I want the highest quality work possible, and every comment, every review, are tools for me to use to further that goal. . . . Enjoy the work. ~White Status: (Ongoing)
